    Colt, hasn't anyone ever told you that the top of a step ladder is not a step or a seat? It's only a hinge for the 4 legs and it probably says "NOT A STEP" on the front of it. It hurts when you fall and land on concrete.

    The 5 slot on top there has 6 slots lol. Next time you cut foam use a sheet rock saw, cuts like butter. I’m curious about the black. Cause it soaks 80-98% light up and right away it’s super dark on video. And collects more heat opposed to white which reflects. Just curious if your adding something bright ontop of the black? It immediately dims when you are within 10-15 feet of it. Thanks. Have a good day bro.

    This shop looks awesome! I have a question though, why the black wall in the rear? I noticed Bleep'in Jeep did the same at his place, I don't get it, from a guy who has a lifetime of cataracts built up over the years, I'd want those walls white as a ghost! Also saves a little when you install your lighting, we get to really see what your doing. This made more sense when you built the rear loft, (and at least your ceiling is white) I'm not hate'n, just curious.. I'm not paying rent or anything, lol

    Flip your struts to the other side, and move the shelf up. Those directions are suggestions on placement. Those strut braces don't care which side and a hole is a hole for the shelf. And swivel wheels aren't that expensive.

  • @RalphCu
    @RalphCu 3 месяца назад +1

    Very cool, those tool boxes really make the space yours. On the rolling box you can flip the gas struts to the other side of their mounts which might help with the usability of the side screwdriver slots. Although they might then interfere with stuff in the middle section...

    From an experienced journeyman point of view, you are put a sacrificial sheet over top that mean 18 foot counter that would eventually get torn up so if you have like a quarter inch MDF or maybe put sheet metal down and a quarter you can weld on top of it then and you can just sand it down and grind it down

    Colt, I am an old mechanic that owns a lot of snap on tools and boxes. I began in the 70”s before I ever heard of Harbor Freight. I had been a mechanic for 6 years before the Matco guy ever showed up at the shop. 47 years and my snap on tools are still hittin it hard. The green is cool color. Snap on red was the only choice 47 years ago when I started in a GM Dealer. Before all that it was craftsman at the V W store. The battery tools are really cool too. Keep on doing what you love to do.

    I still have my top Craftsman tool box I bought when I started building machinery back in 1977. I remember it was discounted quite a bit because it had been dropped and had a dent in the corner. Still locked up just fine. I then built a bottom cabinet with double doors that was lockable and I now use that to hold my Combo welder on. Pretty cool to see you build out your shop. My dad used pegboard on every wall in his garage and it was perfect for hanging all kinds of stuff.

    I think you can swap the side that the upper lid cylinders are connected to to move them to the other side (17:11)- which will free up the space where you put screw drivers along the sides of the top. The Craftsman toolbox you said was your first is what I have... it's OK for a toolbox, but the US box you first showed looks way nicer!

    I had a grill for a 1971 DJ5B hanging on my wall in my old house. Until some @€£?!!! stole it. It would fit nicely on your wall.

    Colt you can off set the shocks to the inside I saw a guy on RUclips who actually makes & sells the kits! Basically it consists of 4 spacers and longer bolts and nuts! I did my own box except I 3D printed my spacers! When you get your lift before you install it take the parts to a powder coating place and match it to the green tool boxes! Use the guy in Salt Lake City that Robby Layton uses! As to the insets use a hole saw and redrill the holes so you can use your insets!

    Get a taller A frame ladder! I've seen way to many people fall off the 2 upper non steps. Was guilty of same in my younger days but it can be difficult to work with a broken leg, arm or neck. Safety is no accident my friends.

    Congrats on the new shop, the strap removal was a trick I learned so many years ago, breaking open newspaper bundles. I do have a question of your rationale for the black wall, or I missed it, volume is down to appease the mrs. Good luck on the Pacer build.

    I use a 20 volt SDX hammer drill on the hammer setting with various bits I’ve modified in place of my air hammer, so far it’s done everything I’ve asked of it .

    currently owning multiple of snap on, craftsman, harbor freight, huskys normal line and their heavy duty line in my personal shop. and then again at work since they pay for whatever i want, I would say that the best deal out there right now is the husky heavy duty by far. significantly heavier duty than their cheaper normal line, harbor freight, and craftsman. about the same drawer roller wise as my snap on, but way way cheaper and if you keep an eye out can snag one in store with a small dent for half the price. Home depot will also deliver it for free, and it all comes pre assembled and ready to go. always running sales too. Huskys "professional" line though is way over priced, matching snap on, which i dont understand and isnt worth the price.

    Don't let it burn down. My shop and home did. Lost all my tools and equipment. And with inflation, I was under insured, protect your stuff.
