Shown on Talking Pictures TV on 14 July 2020. Extremely enjoyable and astonished that I'd never heard of the film until then. A first-rate cast, immensely talented, and brilliant songs by Alan Klein. Moves at a fast pace. It certainly deserves to be better known.
They should put it on again. And again. And again... Well they do other films. Plus I grew up in these very streets, a little later with Beaconsfield building knocked down and made a park with a adventure playground designed like a castle by my time. Some people had vision in the 60s,the big massive council estates was disastrous though.
Thanks for remembering the Good late 60's . The film and SONG "WHAT a CRAZY WORLD WE'RE LIVING IN. .... " was filmed at BEACONFIELDS BUILDINGS .... AH THAT TIME I WAS ONLY 5 Years old.. My family (all of us, including uncles + aunts +cousins ) lived in the place WHERE the Song was sung!!! Great !! Wonderful to listen it again.. Keep it Up..... thanks for it guys.
As much as I relish his Hammer appearances, this is my favourite Michael Ripper film as he appears in several bit roles and is hilarious in all of them
ive lived in this area infact across the road from this scene its weird to see how i am watching of how it used to look i wish i could have seen it with my own eyes
This is filmed round the back of our house in "The Buildings" aka Beaconsfield Buildings. My sister's in the film licking her ice lolly. Her 15 seconds of fame. I was in me mum's belly waiting to come out. My dad often said "bleedin' kids".
films like this and others of the era, tons of early 60s musicals were made and regularly on the tv up until the late 80s. then they stopped showing them. Most people only seem to think cliff Richard was in 'the young ones' and summer holiday, because they are the ones most often shown. I'm sure he was in 5 or 6 films
It was a clerk in the Labour Exchange. Here's the clip (Layabout's Lament. The "bleedin' kids" is at the very end) ruclips.net/video/SWf21BwXLFg/видео.html
I didn't realise Joe Brown was tall he don't sound tall on the records. I can't believe Barbara Windsor wasn't in this picture - I saw it with me girl at our local Picturedrome. Can't remember her name now, little thing about 5' 2" black hair but she was nice with big eyes and dressed good and worked in the officeses at the Walls factory with me cousin Paddy. She had hair all done up on top. Tight green sweater, red mini skirt, white shoes with the tall skinny heels on cause after the flix we went to me mates house for his mam's 30th and me girl stood on a kitchen chair and sang his mam's favourite - 'Anyone Who Had An Art'. She had a sister who had a mate who went out with the bloke who tried to stick one on me the night of the party but I can't remember wot for now. Her mate comes over and says she could drink 4 Mackeson, 4 scotches, 2 Port & lemons an 2 brandy Babychams. And she did it. And me mate held her head down after when she was sick in the back garden by the pigeon loft. She had tight orange matador pants but they had got a split up the back, white blouse with a frilly front, black bra 3 kids and 1 was a different colour but nobody said nothing about it. She was a right bird she was. My girl comes to get me cause they was playing Ronettes 'Be My Baby' an she always runs over to grab me in the dance halls when they always played this last record of the night. Yeah, her name was Diane. Diane summut I remembers now. Wonder wot happened to her. She was nice an all she was. I misses her now I do. I still likes 'Be My Baby'. Sad Ronnie just died. I hopes Diane is alright I do Wonder if she'd read this....
What a cracking film this is, a disgrace it has been allowed to be forgotten over the Cliff Richard stuff of the same period. It's so joyously, so stridently ENGLISH. Remember them..? The English? Wonder what happened to them? Whoops.. sorry Constable, I couldn't help saying it.. it's a fair cop, I'll go quietly into that good night, just like my people did.
Michael went to my school Woodberry Down Comprehensive and lived opposite the school on the estate. I believe he ended up working in a shop in Holloway. He had a major part as Little Joe in that film. I often wonder where he is these days.
@@starcloud4959 Yeah, I suppose the song being called, "What a Very Average, Run-of-the-Mill, Everyday Circumstance-filled World We're Living In", wouldn't have the same ring to it. 😂
Awww. Great to see Marty.
I saw Joe Brown, Marty Wilde & Billy Fury at the ABC Croydon back in the 60s.

You weren't in her belly mate unless you were her breakfast

Tommy Steele was also in a few films around then.
such a shame in fact plain criminal they stopped showing the good stuff after the 80s.the world just dumbed down.
Expresso Bongo was Cliff.
I would love to find a clip of the café owner saying "Bleedin' kids". One of my dad's sayings.

Hi David
Network DVD have officially released this film earlier thi year
It certainly is Stanley!
Grazina Frame was the voice for Carole Gray ,opposite Cliff Richard in '' The Young Ones''
I have the movie I downloaded on Amazon prime worth every penny.
Whatever happened to Michael Goodman?
Michael went to my school Woodberry Down Comprehensive and lived opposite the school on the estate. I believe he ended up working in a shop in Holloway. He had a major part as Little Joe in that film. I often wonder where he is these days.
To be fair, not one of the reasons given in the song is evidence enough to call the world 'crazy'..
that's a matter of opinoin.
2023 what a crazy world we're living in 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
