- Hello all! Finally I got around to doing a little home-made video on how to play Nostalgia. I hope my amateur guitar teaching skills manage to do the trick! Best wishes and hope to see you at a show some time.
Cheers!
Emily
Nostalgia was originally released on the album "Despite The Snow"

The track was subsequently re-recorded with composer Martin Phipps and used as the theme to BBC crime drama "Wallander" starring Kenneth Branagh, and went on to win a Royal Television Society Award for best original theme and a BAFTA for best TV soundtrack.

Hello everyone! Thanks for all your lovely comments. My guitar is a Scott Wise guitar from South West of Australia, Margaret River to be precise.
Best wishes
Emily
Hi Emily I'm still hoping you will explain the picking pattern :)
I love when artists do their own tutorials, it's really refreshing to see. Good on you Emily!
Normally noone does.
Thanks for a beautiful song. The song made an outstanding television show even better and this instructional video is very much appreciated by all of us wannabe guitar players. May you have a long and happy life Emily Barker!
If I was stranded on a island and I could have only one song, this song would be it. It calms me to the core. Thank you so much for a song that brings me peace in a crazy world. ❤😊
I think it's so lovely that you care enough about your music to share it in this way. I, too, say Bravo!
I'm 'late to the party' but just watched Wallander for the first time on Netflix, immediately loved your song and looked for a video on RUclips- delighted you made this, I am enjoying playing it a lot. Thank you.
I'm as fond of the television program as everyone else seems to be, but I'm a musician as well... and, my commentary here is as a fellow musician who instantly became enraptured by this piece of music. The steadily haunting melody combined with keen articulation is of itself wonderfully played, and your voice is a perfect counter in it's phrasing. I have found a good tab and together with this instructional share from you, I plan to work 'recorder' into the melody line. Awesome work Emily! Tks!
Thanks Emily, this is very generous of you to post. Your song made Wallander just that much more enjoyable.
Only just discovered this after watching and enjoying Wallander on catch up. What a beautiful song! Thank you so much Emily for the tutorial. I am going to enjoy playing and singing this song for ever!

I used to play guitar, long ago... I follow everything in your teaching but my fingers left me! But it's so kind of you to give us this gift, how to play your beautiful song, I send you many thanks from an older french musician.
Your efforts to teach others enhances the beauty of your music-it allows us to incorporate your songs into our own experience & memories deeply-in the way that only dancing or playing them can. Thank you.
This song is stunning. The lyrics and music perfectly compliment each other. Thank you for the lesson.

I remember reading somewhere on the interwebs that you were hoping to jot down the tabs at some point, I'm delighted to see that you've gone a beautiful step further and given us a video to enjoy. I'm pleased to say I've b

Unreal. Fabulous song, and then to be shown how to play it by the artist! Great theme song for the programme. As perfect a theme as the Morse theme was for that series.

Hi guys - thanks for all the lovely comments. I've just put a new How To Play video up for Tuesday from the new album, Dear River. Hope you like it.
Emily
I came across your song recently on Spotify and it kept popping up on my play queue as it did just now so I tried to play along, worked out you were playing Em capoed at the 4th and then looked to see if I could find you on YT playing.... BIngo! I was really pleased to see you doing your own tutorial on this lovely song! Thanks so much, we will be working on this to see if we can do it justice.
Its a rare treat to learn a song from the atrist herself. Many thanks again!
Emily - Thanks for responding to my question re your make of guitar and for posting this tutorial.
Thanks, and all the best form Rüdesheim / Germany
Emily Baker.Thanks
Your generosity proves that beauty is more than just skin deep!
Hello Emily , thank you for this vidéo very nice ! Question on the video nostalgia you play on one nice brown guitar i love the song of this instrument what brand and model is ???
Thank you
I would so love to cover this song. Not sure I could ever do it justice though.
I think its great that you do these tutorials thanks a lot but could you explain what you are doing with your right hand...the picking pattern. Thanks
I second this - it's great to see an artist doing a lesson like this but it's hopeless to learn from because you just can't see what she's playing with her right hand. It needs tab or a very slowed down explanation of the pattern.
So Beautiful
Emily , i'm looking for the song end of wallander season 3 episode 1, some said me is Anna but i cannot find it, help me is very nice song
Hope you've found it by now, 6 years later. But if not, usually music tracks are mentioned in the end credits, at least in films. Best!
We are going to give this a go :) Chris and John.
nice
I'm sure it will say somewhere but what make and model of guitar is being used please?
I love this song but am having a hard time with the picking of the right hand. Is there a clear description? I am a real beginner. Thanks to whomever in advance.
Yeah, as soon as I typed it I zoomed in on the headstock and promptly disagreed with myself, not a Seagull. So familiar though, have seen it before. What do you think it is? The 'open book' headstock shape is gorgeous.
Many many Thanks from Berlin, Germany :-))
Jörg
Any chords for this sing for us non-guitar players? Such a beautiful song and lovely performance.

*about
I have been on her website and other places, eg Facebook, but cannot find the make and model of guitar she plays. I suppose I could try her page on Facebook and leave a question but I'll need to think about doing that as I don't really like using Facebook..
It's a Scott Wise guitar from Margaret River, Western Australia ;)
Is there a guitar tab for this Emily please?
Yes there is. Please message me on Facebook, Twitter or Insta about it and I'll send through PDF. facebook.com/EmilyBarkerHalo
Not a Seagull - different headstock. Thanks for responding though.
I might be wrong, but someone below was wondering out Emily's guitar...I think it's a Seagull. Everyone agree?

I don't think it's a Taylor. Headstock, pickguard, and bridge are totally different. So's the sound. She's from Australia. I believe it's one from there. I'd sure like to know...
a
As far as I am aware I am not a relation!!
If weren't meanehile ... I would have married you just for that!
Most definitely not a Taylor - unless it was specially commissioned.
It's a Scott Wise guitar from Margaret River, Western Australia ;)
I'm sure its a Taylor guitar ....
