  • If ink gets stuck behind your converter's piston head, or the converter's movement is sticky, you can disassemble the Lamy LZ28 converter to clean and lubricate the piston. This video quickly shows you how to take apart the Lamy converter.

Any tips on how to get the metal ring off? One of mine is stuck on pretty well.

quite late reply BUT Goulet pens sells a product called the "Goulet Grip" which is just a little piece of rubber that helps with grabbing little parts like this. I made my own for cheap by cutting up an old bicycle inner tube and it works great! Just make sure to clean it with soap and water before using it on your pens

Use a large rubber band on the metal ring. It works like a charm and without effort

While having it open, add some silicone grease to it so it will move as new…

For the longest time, I had been avoiding using fountain pens. I bought a cheap one from Hobby Lobby and then never used it and lost all the parts except what was attached to the pen (it came with a converter and different sized nibs that I lost). But idk what came over me but I finally decided to buy a new fountain pen. A Lamy Safari Charcoal Matte with a Fine nib. I love it. I love writing with it. I use it all the time no matter how mundane the task is. My handwriting is god awful but writing is enjoyable now with my Lamy pen. I’m now looking into trying to get one of the special edition colors and/or a Lamy Dialog 3 on eBay. I love fountain pens so much. I don’t think I can ever go back to using a ballpoint again (unless I need to write on paper that is too thin for fountain pen ink)

Great tip -- any tricks for the front/bottom of the converter? I've left that part in pen cleaning flush for days and it doesn't budge.

Lambie makes a great pain. I have only one problem with them I hate that wire pen clip. Sure it's just a personal thing with me but that's why I don't own a llama pen in my collection although they are beautiful to write with. Get rid of that clip just for me!
