This video is made from leftover footage from the filming of the Skimboarding DVD "Stimulus" which you can buy on the Exile Skimboards website (as well as others). His section in Stimulus makes this look like childs play! What are you waiting for!? :)

look, everyone who is hating on this video, obviously doesnt know him personally. He is one of the nicest person i know and he SHREDS! exile is very lucky to have him on the team. BIG shout-out to Paulo! It was very nice of him to give me and my friends tips on skimming and skimming WITH us.

If you only knew Paulo personally, he is one of the nicest skimboarders out there and he rides like there's no tomorrow. He is truely a great Ambassador of the sport, and his skim camps are always great to learn at.
@GromSurf1224 thats the spirit. Surfing is obviously rad as well. All wave riders should have respect for other talented wave riders, regardless of what they are riding.

I dont see why people insist on hating on skimboarding. Does it really concern you that much that people like to do it. Like what does it concern you? You like surfing? ok so do i but i dont go onto videos of snowboarding and say surfing is better. Just shutup and appreciate the good video.

I have so much respect for skimming then I used to. When I saw skimming for the first time I was like ya thats a decent size wave. 3 years later HOly crap that was huge!!! Paulo is probably the best of the few skimmerz that go out for those huge swell
He is three time world champ. And he still does great when he enters... he is just too busy to travel and compete with due to his two baby boys and expanding real estate career. And thats not a bad thing!

this isnt Paulo but I am happy to help you out. Shape wise you would probably be looking at a ML Hybrid or Pro shape. Any exile board is gonna be way better than the wedge and you will get a good amount of carry out of it. The Hybrid shape is probably most similar to what you are used to so I would recommend that. We have different material options available ranging in cost from 299 to 449 for carbon fiber. Check us out on our website!

Im skimboarding in seaside park NJ using the exile recruiter board and it is sick! I fell in love with the board when it was high tide and when it was low tide to do the pop shove it's on the huge sandbar! But school is coming soon the i will have to wait another year :(

This video, as all the others, is really inspiring. I just wish you guys had some clips from smaller beaches. I live in fort walton beach Florida. The gulf coast hardly gets anything. we through down little floaters and if it has enough pop to give you a big spin out, your lucky. Id love to see exile riders tearin up some small stuff.

@oOWinterNightOo We kind of prefer to release our skimboarding videos in little chunks. If you go on our channel you should be able to queue up all our skimboarding videos which will result in the desired 10+ minute skimboarding video :)
You can also buy Stimulus and/or Bearded for about 40 minutes of even sicker skimboarding each....

You dont need a carbon board to ride waves but getting at least a fiberglass one would help a lot. It is possible to ride waves on a wood board but it is way easier on a foam core board. Generally the better board you buy the easier they are to ride (better performance). The Recruit would be a huge step up and you would notice an immediate improvement.

i watch this video like three times everyday. i wish there was a good place to skim around me but i don't live by any oceans just lakes that have tiny waves. what is a good skimboard to get farther out onto water?

thick will have a little more float but less manueverability/response. Thin will conversely have more response but a little less float...

@mld1106 The dude cruise will probably float the furthest. The main thing is to buy a big size for your weight when you want to go far.
Is skimboarding harder or easier to learn than surfing? I mean the basics of each. I can surf a bit but this looks even more fun

I have a Slotstik from the early 90's and its about an inch of fiberglass. I'm starting to see some cracking below the first layer and was wondering if it will hold up for much longer.

...but if the tide is right than I can get one of those small speed bump waves and jump it but I don't have a foamie board so it's still hard to do

Hey Paulo I love skim boarding but I have been using the same board for many years. I have been using a Small-Medium wedge from Zap and I love it to pieces but that board is really meant for someone weighing 120lbs top which was fine for a couple of years and in my younger days. Now that I am 19 and 170lbs and looking to get a new board, what would you recommend? Running has never been a problem it is reaching the waves farther out and being able to ride them back in. Thanks!!! and amazing vid
