At 6:40 when the real estate agent says, "You must have been busy designing the spring collection" and Morgan ominously replies, "Yes. I've been very busy" she means everything she's been doing to drive the plot (tricking Ridge into getting her pregnant and then kidnapping Steffy to get her revenge). Thus the theme of *Design* is conflated with *Plot-Driving.* Morgan is a designer of clothes but she's also a designer of the plot. And her latest design was that tattered lifejacket.
Great observation! Of course, all this would have been so much better if we had actually _seen_ the Designer at work. The absence of Morgan's point of view is really becoming distracting - like at the end when she watched the news and they described the tragedy she staged, and her reaction was basically a non-reaction.
@@annieo6527 I agree! (I just wrote about this in today's episode) Morgan going to NY and then reappearing a few days later with the elaborate plan already carried out (without her doing any of it herself) is very distancing. It makes her feel more like a Phantom than a Villain, like she can just appear anywhere at anytime and make anything happen.
If I'm ever in a time of sorrow... SF is THE ONLY PERSON I'd want by my side. She didn't even say a word and I felt the most emotion/comfort from her. She had me feeling teary.
I think they had to write Stephanie to really cry like she hasn't in a long time because all the other family members around her are portrayed by mediocre actors, who can't pull off heavy scenes like this one. I was kinda surprised and also impressed, that Thorne sobbed and hugged Steph. He is usually too self-involved and removed from his family, to have this type of reaction if an event (good or bad) is happening to someone else.
SF's portrayal of Stephanie's grief was the emotional anchor of this entire episode. Thorne didn't impress me with the way he said "she drowned?" like he was just asking out of curiosity. And Brooke, of course, could do nothing but hold Ridge for the longest time while Thorne waited in the background for the hug to end but it never did. Taylor did okay. Katherine and Ridge were underwhelming. Eric was just blending in with the furniture.
The trauma that the writers put Taylor and Steffy through is horrendous. First Taylor gets almost beaten to death in an airport bathroom and held against her will by Prince Omar. Then she finally gets back with Ridge and almost dies giving birth to the twins. Then she thinks steffy dies and then gets kidnapped by Morgan. After that she almost dies again and slips into a 8 year coma where her family thinks she's dead. She comes back and then has to really bury Phoebe. My goodness how is anyone supposed to survive all that. Same with Steffy, she was kidnapped at an early age, then she lost her sister and Rick manipulated her, took her virginity just to get back at ridge. Then she loses her first child, almost kills herself in Mexico on an ATV. She gets into two motorcycle accidents and then to top it off she gets shot and thinks her husband was killed. Then she is terrorized by Shelia. Yet nothing like this happens to Brooke or Hope. The only thing that really bad happens to Brooke is the R a p e. Other than that compared to Taylor it's a walk in the park. Hope does lose one child and she does briefly think she lost her daughter but other than that nothing bad has happened to her. It's just crazy when you add it all up.
As we all realize, there is significantly more personal loss and drama than Brooke or Hope. Yes, the two also had a miscarriage and Brooke was raped, Hope was almost raped too, but overall Taylor and Steffy had to endure more and more - that's Bell's handwriting 🤷🏻♀️
That real estate agent was all gossip until Morgan started over-sharing about her abortion and miscarriage. Nobody ever wants to hear about her "pain and suffering." 😆
The real estate agent had it coming, the way she was fishing for gossip. She kept asking about the unalive Forrester child and then totally lost interest when Morgan changed the subject to her own unalive babies.
Seriously. Ridge’s father, mother, and brother are there, but of course Brooke needs to push herself in front of them to rub herself all over him before any of them can say a word. Ugh.
Morgan's new home reminds me very much of Sheila's house when she came out the asylum. I thought the same thing! They are clearly setting up this parallel storyline to "James in the dungeon" by associating Morgan's new home with _both_ Sheila's homes on the show. And, of course, Taylor is _also_ a psychiatrist (although she won't have to sleep with Morgan in order to free herself).
