The cast was truly GORGEOUS..... But old age comes for us all. with and without plastic surgeries, botox etc..... If you live long enough you will get old..... top gun will always be one of my favorite movies....
Top Gun… Having been an Air Traffic Controller and a guest of the USAF several times during the eighties I was able to do many of the air scenes shown in the movie and actually fly the F-15 in low level, ACM, takeoff / landing, and refueling ops, not the actual hookup but get the aircraft off the wing of the KC-10. I rode in back of behind the pilot in the front. Flying the F-15 was a real honor. The performance envelope is so great that it doesn’t care if its pointed straight down or straight up! Enough power to accelerate straight up and a great airspeed latitude. Straight nose down and accelerate from 250kts to 450kts in a flash. Pull six G’s easily, could do more but was limited by policy. The movie reminds me so very strongly of my own experiences courtesy of the USAF. I was able to log over 35 hours in the F-15…
Father time is amazing and no fighting it. God bless all of these actors/actresses for possibly the best movie in my youth. More importantly, it literally motivated and guided me to pursue my passion in aviation. At the time of the movie, I was in USAF, as a F16 maintenance tech. Like everyone else I wanted to be a pilot and will never forget my supervisors' words saying and i quote, "You will never be a pilot", as he walked away laughing. I subsequently fulfilled my USAF commitment, became a Police Officer however while serving community I took flight lessons. Long story short, 26 years in aviation I'm a major airline pilot, just a few years from retirement. I owe everything to this movie an actors. THANK YOU! Side note, years into my law enforcement I conducted a traffic stop when a vehicle ran a light. It was my USAF supervisor from the past.....hmm....life sure has a way....:)
