    What I like about this DTF printer, it does auto cut 👏🏾. So even without the shaker/dryer, I can use the other desktop shaker from DTF Station 👌🏾 and save the sheets for later. Between this and Epson F1070, it’s sooooooo hard to choose lol

      I would say if you want to do DTG also you get the F0170. If you want to do gang sheets you get the Roland BN-20. There are big differences between these two.

    The #1 issue with DTF is maintenance, and white ink drying up in the print head. What has Roland done to avoid this from happening?

    What's the ink cost look like? Coming from a setup with a CISS where you can refill it I'm worried about 220ml carts with a set costing nearly $300. I know it's hard to estimate depending on print size and color but how many full size prints can you expect to get before needing to buy more carts especially the white?

    • @SilhouetteSchool
      @SilhouetteSchool  7 месяцев назад

      You will run through white fast..even when you're not printing, a lot goes into the waste tank during cleanings. This is not unique to this printer though. All DTF printers have this issue due to the constant ink cycling

    Just got my BY-20 up and running. First time using anything this advanced for DTF and making my way through things. What are your thoughts on the dryer/heater? Any harm in turning them both off? I have an inline shaker oven I have not hooked up yet. Printer is on a work table. Dryer is on the floor. I worry that by the time the prints make it to the shaker dryer they will actually be too dry to powder. Anyone run into that issue before?

      Also a tip for anyone that has never used Flexi before...this cost me hours. When you set the choke value it isn't like Cadlink where you just set a choke of "4" or whatever number. You have to set the actual measurement of the choke. For example you have to enter a value like .01" . Well if you miss a 0 there you set your choke too large. I had to play around with it but set it to .01 for now. I may go lower to say .008.
      Also...if you have a solid image say like a logo as shown in the video you can use Effects>Underbase>Solid Underbase which adds the white under the entire thing. If you have an image that isn't solid I had to use Effects>Underbase>Variable Underbase. Just not used to using Flexi but I've made some progress in a day of use. Pretty easy once you get the hang of it.

      I worried about the drying too much by the time it got to the shaker/heater, but it doesn't seem to be an issue

      Yet another tip as I'm making my way through using the first few days...make sure you buy at least 3 white ink cartridges with your initial order. I bought 2 whole color sets. It tore through a white cartridge very quickly on the initial charging of the lines. Not sure why it used so much white compared to the colors but it did. Colors still 66% but white...had to change that out already and I didn't do a whole lot of printing. I think I did 150 4x4 inch color pocket graphics and had to change out. Has to be the initial charge.

    • @SilhouetteSchool
      @SilhouetteSchool  7 месяцев назад +1

      It has automatic maintenance with ink circulation. I would recommend shaking the ink daily and printing a nozzle check daily as well..then the utility will tell you what else is needed and when.
