Loving this content. You guys are producing some high quality learning materials. It's obvious your focus is highlighting the tools themselves but I'd love to see some updated content highlighting arranging and using the timeline/blocks or whatever else you can come up with regarding the actual composition/writing/arranging of music.
I like how Reason Studios is really putting the effort in to create regular interesting videos, We have a great tutorial from Ryan and something completely different with Archetype here. Keep it comming great stuff.
Very cool. I've been using Reason since 2005 and it continues to evolve. I`ll never catch up to it but thats part of the fun. Thanks for this quick tutorial.
You can only pronounce the word "SHADOWS" and you've got everything you need to make a great beat : [SH] will make nice shakers, [HA] will make breaths, [D] will make kick drum, [OW] will make mice muted techno drum, and that [S] will bring you nice hihats :-)
I always start in blocks as well....I usually rewire into one of my other daws and then the fun begins. Something about the sounds in reason that I still love.
I've wondered that as well. To me a beat is just the drums and percussion but it seems that the common understanding is that it's a fully realized part of a production.
I loved reason in College but being an audio engineer I really enjoy Cubase better due to the mixing engine being more intuitive to what I used when I learned Pro Tools in College. Reason is a beast I also loved Logic back then. Studio One is pretty amazing and FL studio is still a different language to me but I'm starting to figure it out more. Happy beat making
Waves new sampler Cr8 is just $9 and functions similar to this, and includes COSMOS for FREE which smacks down the Reason browser. Talk about value for your money.
It doesn’t stretch but it does so much that Serato doesn’t. Where’s the built in compression, distortion and filters in Serato? Don’t get me wrong, I use it and love it but, be objective. This isn’t trash.

THANK YOU!
I agree, all their videos are great
i agree, its very good. even the videos you made years ago still hold up, even tho general knowledge moved up in this time.

This is one of the best mimic videos I’ve seen, he killed it. Mimic is one of the best new devices to be honest I love it so much.
More vids from this guys please!
Grateful for the Opportunity! Arc, you killed this as always homie!

I like how you shape your sounds in mimic! Truly an eye opener. Well done!!!
Does drummer Jon come with Reason subscription?
Mass definitely reps on the production seen! Dope video!
What does that even mean, lol :D

He did a good job!👍
I always start in blocks as well....I usually rewire into one of my other daws and then the fun begins. Something about the sounds in reason that I still love.
This is heat!!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 All from scratch!!!!!! 💯💯💯
So, it's an Elektron Octatrack in DAW form?
Cool.
I would also like to see the possibilities of Reason's Grain in conjunction with Mimic.
this is crazy bro! wow!
I may have to buy the full reason again but for now I can try and recreate this in one of my many other samplers.
Great video!

When did the term “beat” stop meaning just a rhythm and start meaning a fully realized backing track?
I've wondered that as well. To me a beat is just the drums and percussion but it seems that the common understanding is that it's a fully realized part of a production.
10-15 years ago. We were sending "beat CDs" for mixtapes and submissions...that's where I first heard it
awesome ! :o
Timestretch in there?.
😳 wow
Yeah
I’m boutta go make a beet! (Spelled that way on purpose)
Perfeito ....
👍
I would pronounce that arse-type if I hadn't heard it first.
LOL
I did the same few weeks ago !!!
Great job.
Why anybody is using anything other than Reason is beyond me. The most full-fledged DAW out there, worth every crown.

CR8 does NOT have slicing or as good of stretch algorithms(IMO). Maybe waves will add it...who knows.
Nice workflow, but music is from 15 years ago
Trash compared to serato. It should stretch as well as chop.
It doesn’t stretch but it does so much that Serato doesn’t. Where’s the built in compression, distortion and filters in Serato? Don’t get me wrong, I use it and love it but, be objective. This isn’t trash.
Mimic literally has “stretch type” on the interface.
