      +Sony Pictures Entertainment I am so sick of hearing people bitch and moan about player safety. They know what they are getting in to. They ARE getting compensated for all of their troubles. Most of these players are committing suicide because they were stupid with their money-ie broke, alcoholics, and drug users. They are making a living off of playing a GAME that they love. They know what they are getting in to. And there multi-million dollar contracts make more than sure they are getting compensated for the risks.

      +John Williams What you said is a complete and utter lie. The average kid coming up from little league into college will not be educated on the dangers of football. And not only that but if it werent for people like Dr. Omalu, we would never even know the full scope of the dramatic brain injuries.
      The fact that you could encourage this just shows how rotten a person you are and how badly we have to have a national discussion about this.
      Players are retiring left and right because they are finally discovering the truth of the matter. Will some still play? I'm sure. But we need them to know the full extent of the damage they will take.
      We need to discuss whether our children getting permanent brain damage is something hat we are okay with especially in football-centric towns across America.

      +B Kalley It doesn't matter what the fans say, as an NFL legend said in the book and documentary this movie is based on, once the mothers see what this can do to their kids, they won't let them play anymore. Fewer and fewer players at the college level means there is no one to move to the NFL. Colleges will make the right decision long before the NFL will ever give up, because they are institutions that are supposed to be focused on IMPROVING one's mind, instead of destroying it. Once we reach a tipping point, it will all slowly dissolve away.

      It's not over for the NFL, far from it. Men will continue to play football because of the riches it brings. Even knowing the risks hasn't crippled or stopped the tobacco industry.

      thr problem for the NFL isn't the men wanting to play its parents allowing their children to play. you have to have young players available to replace the beaten up broken ones and I dont know about you but as a parent can you honestly say you'll let ur kids play for a organization that for years denied the sport caused these types of injuries and refused to pay to help take care of their retired players?

I get so sick of people who have never acted in their lives, never worked on a movie set in their lives, or had any experience in the entertainment industry, in their lives to bitch and complain about what they think and how they think a television show,movie or any production should be done in any aspect. I was right...I immediately called my older son and told him about this movie and how POWERFUL it is..so powerful....I encourage EVERYONE to see it and I pray that the Football gods find a solution. I love the game but not at this price. Never at this price.

    Yep, Will Smith should have been nominated for an Oscar for this movie. Will is a incredibly gifted actor and an amazing singer! He captured his character exactly. Wonderful acting. The integrity of Doctor Omalu in real life is inspiring! He was the one to diagnosis this chronic brain damage. Having been born in Nigeria, he wasn't brainwashed by big $ sports. Thank you for making this film.

    Its about time that a film like this comes out, which - unlike so many other films which glorify football - actually shows the gritty reality of the game. Long after the stadium lights go off and their fame fades, these men have to endure the debilitating consequences that are the product of a society that somehow twisted our notion of manhood and sportsmanship to entail destructive violence. I always found it odd that so many self-professed Christians have no problem letting their kids idolize and relish such life destroying violence, but then loath the private consenting sexual habits of others. These compassionate followers of Jesus derive great pleasure from two men irreparably damaging each other's brains, and even idolize them for it, but if these two men wanted to do something as simple as marry one another, they are treated as the most vile creatures. If that isn't a misplacement of moral priorities, I don't know what is.

Nigeria has over 100 languages, of which there are over 250 dialects, and most of them sound completely different from one another. There is no "Nigerian" accent like people are complaining about. If people actually listen to one of Dr. Bennet Omalu's interviews or speeches, they would quickly realize the "accent" Will Smith is using is being templated off of him. Firstly, with all the people ranting that Will Smith's Nigerian accent is wack, please take several sits at the back.. #1 there is no one accent in Nigeria, as a Nigerian, we are one of the world's most diverse nation in terms of culture, religion etc. An Igbo person sounds very different from a Yoruba or Hausa individual. We have over 250 Dialects in Nigeria alone, so there is truly nothing like a Nigerian accent. #2 This is a very serious subject matter that needed a very high profile actor. CTE affects even children, so Will Smith as an actor is an excellent person to spread the word. Yes David Oyelowo could have done grt as well as Chiwetel Ejiofor cos of there Nigerian heritage, but sorry, they didn't, so stop whining and enjoy the movie. Will Smith is still one of the best actors alive, who embodies each character in an amazing awe inspiring way. I can't wait to see this movie. I am moved already by the Trailer

      Nope uh-uh that accent was atrocious. Yes we have many dialects, but it's not impressive when you can't even properly emulate one. Let alone the person you're trying to embody in the film. This isn't even the first time this has happened. It's occurred with multiple films. If David and Chiwetel can accurately portray American accents and embody the characters that they play , why can't Will Smith ( a person who has been in the industry longer than them)? Is that a sign of a good actor to you? There are American actors that portray European accents perfectly. Smith's accent seems half-assed and uncommitted. Signs of not a good actor.

    His Nigerian accent is appalling, why Jesus. He clearly didn't do his research into what makes a truly Nigerian accent, because this is just abysmal. Hollywood could have used SEVERAL black actors who are actually african and could have pulled off the naija accent O.O

      I can do a better Nigerian accent and I'm Egyptian, it's from hanging out with some Nigerians in my country...he could have spent more time socializing with Nigerians and paid more attention to the way they talk. I mean, actors are supposed to be good at imitating. Good movie though, eventhough his accent was distracting.

    I love this movie. I am so glad that Will made this movie to show that human beings were not made for violent games like football. We do not have the natural ability to protect consistent head blows even with a helmet. Only certain animals have this natural ability. It's a game for greed. Mothers who have sons that want to play football need to go see this movie. Will Smith was explicit!

    Its been 8 years since this film came out...the number of cases of CTE exploded (as expected when dealing with first findings) however...the number of players that have died by way of suicide, verses natural causes are pretty much even...and although that number is reducing due to new concussion protection and protocols, there is still a insurmountable players that haven't stepped into the light of testing, but show signs of CTE through actions based questionable character issues. 8 years later and I think about the Tua Tagoviola's, the Teddy Bridgewater's, the Adrian Peterson's, the Steve Atwater's, and David Fulcher's...The Antonio Brown's, the Vontez Burfect's, Hines Ward's, the Sebastian Janokoski's, the Chris Mohr's and those are just a few of the modern day players over the past 30 years...big hitters, tough runners, fearless pass catchers, and throwers. But also think about the John Riggin's, the Larry Csonka's, the Deacon Jones's, the Fran Tarkenton's, the Marion Motley's, and Marion Barber's (what would possess a man to have his thermostat up to 91° while sleeping?...CTE)...I could go on and on and on...and still never name enough, because according to NFL player protection statues, the NFL is only responsible for players health post merger of the AFL and NFL...so anything before that is shit show of mysteries we'll never know about.
    For as long as there is money involved, human health, safety, and life will always be secondary.
    And the worst part beyond that is the NFL will never change...they don't have to...because as long as you and I love this sport, (and trust me, WE LOVE THIS SPORT)...the game will likely outlive us all.
    Here's to the men; gladiators, warriors, supermen, the deceived, the misinformated, misguided, and misled...may you find your way to the eye of the storm ⛈️.

    I've had post concussion syndrome for a few months now and feel like nobody really gets it... It happened at work, so unfortunately I'm left jumping through hoops and trying to justify how I feel constantly. I look well on the outside, but internally I'm a mess... My cognitive abilities have been changed and I'm generally not myself even on the best of days. My focus is nearly non existent and I'm very easily distracted by the silliest things.
    The anger, depression and anxiety that I feel on a daily basis is real... At first I pushed to go back to work to feel normal and have found myself prolonging my healing process.... Though my symptoms have calmed down I am pushed to try to return to work even though I'm not really able to work ft time. I'm ok when I'm at home, but when you starting adding people in, noise and lights it all gets so overwhelming. I'm expected to modify my environment by wearing sunglasses inside, bringing ear plus along or possibly adding a brimmed hat to wear while I work inside with children.... it's so frustrating and emotionally draining....
    I'm totally going to check this movie out! My memory is getting better, but my Short term memory is greatly affected :(

    lets be real the players know that getting hit for a living isnt good for you. They are not that dumb that they think serious damage isnt being done to them. Players play because often its the way the can make the most money.

      +EasySnake yeah i guess thats why in the past 2 years about 7-10 players have retired in their early to mid 20's due to concussions. Yes players are aware getting hit isn't good but they are aware of the severe problems those injuries cause in the future. Players who have concussion problems are waking up now and cutting their careers short before its too late.

    • @easysnake205
      @easysnake205 9 лет назад

      ag2407 The vast majority of players are choosing to stay in the NFL as long as possible. The vast majority of NFL players end their careers because they are cut and cannot find another team.

      +EasySnake Ok I still don't get your point? They are still not aware of the long-term side effects of concussions. These are kids in their early 20s with little to no knowledge of neurology, I think this movie will wake players up and have them make more conscious decisions.

    • @easysnake205
      @easysnake205 9 лет назад

      ag2407 you underestimate players, they know the consequences. they are choosing to play despite all of the evidence. (I am speaking about the vast majority)
      Actually listen to players talk about it.

    • @easysnake205

      ***** you are probably a relatively well off privileged person.
      Trust me grinding poverty that many players come from makes being happy very difficult. eg. you try to be happy while being evicted.
      The NFL will always have players because of the systemic poverty in this country.
