100% It might be my favorite cups and balls routine ever (considering we all missed the first 3,000 yrs of performers). No jest whatsoever though. This is CLASSIC magic done at its best by one of the all time greats.
A masterful routine performed by a legend of magic. I have just retired from a 45-year career as a comedy magician, and without Paul Daniels, it would never have happened.
@@---zu9qy I was fortunate to appear on a British television talent show called New Faces in 1978. I was very lucky to see Paul Daniels live back in 2001 when our new theatre opened. Fantastic performance, he did this cup and ball trick and it still hurts my head how quick he is, he was quick here and quick when I saw him. He was very engaging, excellent with the audience and a delight to have seen live and as close up as I could get. A truly wonderful magician who will be sorely missed.
Absolutely far and away the best performance of this trick I've ever seen. Literally watched it about a hundred times and his timing and delivery is perfect. Highly underrated magician.

This is probably the best performance of this trick I have seen - Thanks very much for uploading, previously I had only seen clips on here and it is great to see the whole routine again. Why Paul Daniels left our screens I will never know. I may not always agree with his opinions or the comments he makes in public from time to time, but IMO there is no doubting that he is the greatest magician this country has ever produced. It is a shame he went out of favour with the general public. I believe he is still performing - I would love to see him live. I know people who have met him and every single one of them has commented on how amiable he is and how passionate he is about his art. Would love to see him back on our TV screens.
The BBC dropped the magic show without informing Paul or Debbie - they only found out because a friend of theirs had an interview to work in the BBC Wardrobe Department and happened to mention that she wanted to do the costumes for the Magic Show and was told it had been cancelled.
@@RJSRdg That's sad to hear. Although I'm not surprised. The BBC seemed to disfavour him for some reason. So sad to hear that one of the world's best magicians has passed away. He will be truly missed by thousands of fans. Paul Daniels 1938 - 2016 Gone, but never forgotten. This is one of the best and most entertaining routines Paul Daniels has done!
Paul Daniels was at Blackpool when my family and I stayed for a weeks holiday during 19879. Pauls show was on the pier and Charlie Williams was in the theatre coco staring Bonney Langford and Lena Zavaroni.
I've seen some astonishing spectacles in magic shows onstage, the Copperfield Saw, Penn and Teller's bullet catch, but this will forever be my favourite trick. Masterful is an understatement, the perfect piece of magic.
This brings back lovely memories of going to see Paul at the Grand theatre in Leeds with my dad, and then meeting the man himself afterwards but being too shy to say much to him!
Was very fortunate to meet him and spend time with him in Germany, amazing guy, down to earth, was funny as I had no idea what a huge celebrity he was.
Very sad to learn of his death. He was Mr Magic to a whole generation or two. It feels like the death of traditional magic as well. Nobody will ever be what he was to magic. Very engaging and funny guy. As far as I'm concerned, there is no hesitation in saying that he was the greatest magician of all time. Not only for the tricks, but also for the way in which he presented them. Paul Daniels was the first to bring magic like this to the TV, it was a must-see show. A great conjuror who never revealed his tricks which is a sad and cheap laugh. I don't want to know how it's done, if I did then I'd study magic and acquire the skills.
I just came here from a vid about "Celebrity deaths in 2016" and I'm so glad I watched it... Got to see this hilarious man and his crazy magic skills because of it :) R.I.P.

This isn't cups and balls. Cups and balls is always done with a trio of cups. This is the holy grail for magicians called the chop cup. It's difficult to make perfect but the effect once done is amazing
Like many people I know how it's done but that's not really the point. The point is not being able to SEE it being done in real time and the smoothness and presentation. We know HOW a great painting it made but can still be impressed by the artistry.
Can't say I've practically liked him very much but a lot of other people did! Another familiar face on TV has gone but we all have to go sometime. RIP Paul and my condolences to Debbie McGee and friends and family.

Wrong. You are correct in the "cover songs vs originals" argument. He didn't invent this, and says as much at the beginning of the routine. But he's VERY fast. Magic is like the blues. There's only so many basic elements (in magic-sleight of hand and misdirection, in the blues-chord structure and topics).
