Colonel : "Ok Snake, we need you to infiltrate shadow moses and take out FOXHOUND, you have 24 hours" 1 hour later Snake : "Mission complete" Colonel : "Whuh ?" Snake : "Kept you waitin', huh ?"
I don't mind the runners being remoted. Doesn't detract from my enjoyment from the show at all. In fact I would supported it even in a normal scenario in order to increase the number of people that could be in AGDQ/SGDQ (not everyone is willing/able to travel to the venue) and would be less of a hassle to the runners in general if they chose to remote. Do miss the audience and their reactions though, only thing that's missing. Covid sucks :/
10:30 - he was speaking about sneezing when i had such a terrible allergy reaction to something today that made me sneeze the whole day while having to teach, hahahhahaa
Cargo elevator rides... everybody else: goes about their business Solid snake: does his best little bunny foo foo impersonation with three guards.. hahahah
Haiku, in fact, should NOT be strictly 5-7-5 English syllables, as English allows much more information to be conveyed in a 'syllable' than the Japanese equivalent. For example, a well-regarded translation of the most famous haiku: The ancient pond-- A frog leaps in The sound of the water As we can see here, we have 4-4-6 in the English translation of a 5-7-5 Japanese poem. That's three fewer syllables - and far more restraint shown - than writing in 5-7-5 English. Doing so would give us something far more bloated. Also, thinking that anything 5-7-5 is a haiku dimishes the most important aspect: the subject matter. From seasonal words to cutting words, there are many guidelines as to what the content of a haiku should be, and how it should be written. All of these English attempts at 'haiku' completely ignore these other sides of the poem.
Trial and error, some knowledge of game functions in terms of common bugs and exploits with the engine, and finally a community of people doing the same that shares insights :) thats the power of humanity, working and learning as a collective.

It's so great to see this game being beaten like a boss.... A big boss indeed
I see what you did there

While most games work great with remote viewing it does suck not hearing the audience cheer and join in during some of the more popular games.
Personally I don't miss the audience reactions at all.
Didn't know they where doing SGDQ this year due to covid. Really fun run Plywood. Good shit my dude.
Came here for the run, stayed to see if he left in the "Did you like my sunglasses?" line.
Was not disappointed by either 😆
Glad to see SGDQ is still on even during quarantine
6:58 wait you're telling me you can do all of that in 30 mins ?! it took me hours, days even to get to this part.
Hell yeah, I had to beat the game without a memory card when I was a kid
Fantastic run and commentary from Plywood and dlimes13. Informative, entertaining, and fun to watch. 10/10.
Plywood, you are AWESOME!!!! Great commentary and vibes the whole run my dude
Always look forward to a good MGS run. Thank you!
This helped me beat Metal Gear Rex. Thanks GDQ and plywood!
My favorite PS1 game ever.
Great to see MGS1 feature and great to see SGDQ run this year! Great run!
Thank you GDQ. Thanks to all runners.
''I appreciate the family friendly vibe'' said the donator during a MGS run lol
Great video and commentators though!
I really wish I caught these runs. I didn't know the online solution was in the mix. Regardless, I'm glad they did find the alternative.
Metal Gear done in one hour...
*You're that ninja!*
the first movie like game in history.. just amazing game
Nope.
Ryan Whitelaw To the “first movie-like game” thing or the “amazing game” thing?
Jack _ just like how death stranding is a strand type game, kojima likes to push the envelope
10:30 - he was speaking about sneezing when i had such a terrible allergy reaction to something today that made me sneeze the whole day while having to teach, hahahhahaa
Thx for the years of charity and entertainment :D
Hell yeah plywood! Good to see you on gdq again!

some of this was interesting but idk kinda too prescriptivist and gate keepy. That's not an art philosophy I believe in.
Can we just appreciate the Announcer's Solid Snake impression? Just spot on lol
I couldn’t be there for the live but great run ply!
amazing run
I didn't know you could damage the crane!
SAME! 22 years I thought I'd seen it all!
It feels practically like I’m there in GDQ. Nice
Nice!!!! Good plywood , good day, thx pal!!!!
You have to mash to skip codec? I thought you can just hold triangle button to fast forward the codec.
The glitches throw me off. How are you supposed to find out about those things..

Esse é um clássico, gdq mantém a cena viva✌🏾
Great run!
Can someone please explain why this run doesn’t count as a WR run? He beat his PB by a minute 48 seconds...
Probably not verified yet.
The estimate is not his PB.
This ain't the same without the crowd in the back😔
Someone help me out. I looked up the WR speedruns and this should be on a leaderboard for MGS. Why is it not? Or am I missing something?
how did he pass that tank???
It’s explained like less than 10 minutes in.
What a thrill!
What a thrill
I sneezed 🤧 wheres that Hind fight ?
What rank did he get? Not Big Boss
yes
How do people find the bugs in the game? Is it trial and error or do the game designers publish the bugs?
Looking through game data and trail and error
Oof, so close to 59:59
i want to follow this guy on twitch, what is the /username?
Hi, thanks for the interest! My twitch channel is twitch.tv/plywood_
Twitch.tv/plywood_

Hey well done!
How can you play the original mgs on pc?
You mean using emulators?
Yes the original was ported to the pc... however it is not that great of a port. I think the pc version was run 1 or 2 years ago in gdq by plywood.
There is a PC port, or you can emulate it.
The big donation is what's important, but c'mon friend, haiku ain't 5-5-5
31:10 My favourite part.
