can i take a sec to acknowledge that phillip was a playboy and wealthy bachelor and very hesitant to even hop on board with Barnum’s circus, then he sees anne and he’s all in now while he opens his eyes to what love really is and is willing to sacrifice his wealthy lifestyle for her despite the social hierarchy of the era as seen later in the film. seriously, it can’t get any better than that.

I kind of hate how people are saying that Zendaya isn't full black. I personally think it makes the story more real tbh. Half casts were also outcasts due to not knowing where to fit it, they also didn't really have a place in society so to say she's "only half black" is a really idiotic thing to say.

yee yee maybe do some research and read the full post over before you respond? Mixed people weren’t seen as “exotic” or had any privilege as they do today.
White people did not care about how light they were- they were still seen as black and treated like one.
Meanwhile they were pretty much exiled from their own communities and parents for not being born black enough. This is true even if the parents were both black and their child was too light skinned. They would be thrown in to orphanages or hidden away.
They were basically not accepted by anyone

the fact that people are trying to say zendaya "isn't black enough" for them is disgusting; the level and tone of your melanin isn't what makes you black. simply BEING black is enough, you being black while saying she isn't dark enough still makes you racist to say that. pathetic
(!!!----ALSO--- its important to remember black comes in ALL shades and tones; people can be very dark skinned, lightskinned, etc. on tone AND black people can also have albinism and vertigo, which could make them appear to be white but that does not make them so. just thought I'd add this.)
with so much discrimination in the world a good step would be to start trying to end the stigmas from within.
@Joyce Williams I think you are missing a point too. Colorism is bad. So many Black people see being black as a spectrum. The lighter you are the better. People needs to stop associating skin tone/color with quality, skills, talent, education. So being light skinned doesn't take away from the fact that she's a good actress. It's what movements like BLM are fighting for, that your skin color doesn't define you, and that's the truth.

I'm still slightly salty that Jeremy Jordan wasn't cast as Phillip Carlyle, but maybe he had scheduling conflicts or something. And Zac does do a great job, I cannot deny that he's a really good actor and singer.
No scheduling conflicts he was chosen to sing for Hugh while he was recovering from cancer op......Zac was on board quite early on so Jeremy would never have had Zacs part.
I love The Greatest Showman! IT has musicals, drama, romance, action, and Zac! And I get to ship people in it!
