- More cars attempting Mackhouse on the 2003 Cotswold Clouds trial, run by Stroud Motor Club. Remastered using Topaz, it doesn't necessarily look better than the original. #actc #trial #mackhouse #clouds #offroad #motorsport @hibbertderek
very nice! back in the 80's I use to love buying a vehicle and just driving thru the woods w/o any roads, made my own. we had keg parties way out in the woods where you didn't bother anyone and had the best times without anyone fighting. cheers, It was in Massachusetts, Taunton to be exact!
There's slightly off, there's seriously excentric, and then, there are Brits. "Hilarious" was an understatement. Thanks for sharing!
“Excentric” seriously?
We are lovely aren't we Manfred? I forgive your spelling, much better than my German? spelling. 👍🏴
@@philiptownsend4026 Lovely all the way. Thanks for Your forgiveness. I'm actually envious: whipping vintage commuter cars up muddy hills for fun would earn You a double-stoning in my nook of the woods, from both the hill-protectors and the vintage-commuter-car collectors. Thats why I commute in my '71 Series 2a diesel once in a while 😅to give at least a little bit back to my fellow Germans.
Most fascinating thing I’ve seen in a minute.
In the fear of momentum burnt clutches could be smelt lingering in the damp air across the countryside.
Something satisfying about watching them little tires squish about one the rocks. Grasping for traction.
I used to do this in the 70s, first with a Morris 1000, the a Mini with an 1100 on twin SUs and finally with a Cortina GT mk1. The crowd used to get really involved helping stuck cars and even other competitors would give advise how to approach difficult sections. Truely (and literally) a grass roots motorsport.
Great video Elizabeth!!!
Looks like fun, if not rather brutal for some rare cars..
I've owned a lot of these cars over the years and even the Hillman Eimps as well, my grandad love them and lift me one.
I think this is the most British thing I've seen yet
Try Morris Dancing and Highland Games. You have no idea...yet. This "sport" began when country dwelling aristos found that their guests could barely reach the family home for weekends...
Learned to drive in a 1968 Stilleto. Best little car on the road.
Liking that Sunbeam Stiletto.
This reminds me of the paddock bashing we did to some our cars in the old days here in Australia
Men of a certain age in cars of a certain Motor sport at its best😂
Very good, these trials are great.
Great video, I have shared it on all the other platforms and RUclips, keep up the great work, thanks!
brilliant footage
I thoroughly approve of the Hillman Imp abuse. I had one, they are awful. Whereas, when I was a kidin the 70s, before SUVs were a thing, VW beetles were known for making it up the nightmare road to the local skifield rather well, so if you couldn't afford a Toyota 4WD an old beetle would do
Your Imp might have been awful, mine was fantastic.
Yep, I had one too…..shocking car!
I embarrassed quite a few jeeps with my old VW Bus.
@@blacksquirrel4008 Classic! 🤣
The Triumphs, very sporty looking, littered the highways. They were really bad as well. But they had a following. I believe it was because of their sporty good looks. My uncle replaced the engine twice in his. But, he loved it. Eventually the engine went out again. But,by then, the floor plans we're rusted away, the convertible top had many rips and holes, and fourth gear did not work. He limped it to a salvage hard and got enough money to take his girlfriend out that njght, which was unknown to my aunt.
Nice one Derek!
Long time no see! Hope you are well.
Proper hill climbing, no v8 7ltr nitro cars in sight, just fiddle breaks 😀😎😎😎👌🏼
Incredible VW cox, they can go every where !!! Kris
That skoda estelle is mint👍
Really enjoyable
Love this channel!! New subscriber!! 😉👍
Its like waking up into a dream. Is this really true : )
Buy yourself an Imp and find out. They were well named, simultaneously magical and perverse. Here we see them pitted against purpose built hill climbers on a bugger of a hill. Go figure. Imagine a Camaro on that...
Them two blokes jumping up and down in the red car lol
They even became synchronised at one point 🤣🤣
It transfers weight directly down onto the driven wheels.
As if another 200kg slammed down on the bottom of the tyres...
suddenly there's more traction.
You can do the same if you ever have to get a 2wd truck turned around on a narrow track...
5 people on the tray boucncing up and down in unison gives the truck enough grip to tackle slippery slopes as it backs uphill...
@@rogermellie8068 They needed to be synchronised, their earlier efforts were a waste of time.
Love a classic trial. If anyone is interested in eccentric British trials have a look for sporting trials
Brutal
Ahhh...very good...loads of fun..
Can't see electric vehicles doing the same...
Maybe a charging point in the trees...🤔🤔🤔🤔

British 🧐 Rally Racing🛺On A Buget 👍 I Love It🤩

@@lrcb40 SOUNDS LIKE SOMEONE HAS A ATTUTIDE PROBLEM ?
Have a feeling the track was steeper than it looked. Good fun though
Good idea to put tha fatty in tha back for weight transfer
Guys were sending it before it was ever sent
Tough little cars
The height of folly...
What kind of car is that 2 door convertible looks like an MG
I’m a NA gear head but have to sadly admit that I only could recognize three cars; the white one, the yellow one and the red one 😊
Was going to say a lot of expensive Escorts being abused there , but its 2003 .most were worthless then
Quite a few Escorts still do it. They are pretty capable.
What happens to all these cars when they inevitably fail to get to the top? They have to reverse to the bottom to let the next one have a go?
If they are close to the top they are winched out, otherwise back the way they came.
You have it. On the better regulated hill climbs, stewards pull the failures off to be recycled later. Unfortunately, recycled means that they go to the bottom and start again....
An Imp was originally meant to be a rival to the Mini. In some ways, it managed that, top speed, acceleration etc. In other terms, however, not so good. It was a rush job, like the Mini, but without Alex Issigonis cracking the whip. The original Rootes management might have been able to handle it, but the British government threw civil servants at the problem, not a good idea unless it's a tire fire we're talking about. Then Chrysler took over, without asking either Rootes or the British government to cancel the project. I hate to say it, but the Scottish workforce was the root of the problem. When the Linwood plant was trying to open, most of the applicants hadn't been regularly employed since the Korean War. Most were also from Glasgow, which meant an hour's bus commute every day, minimum. Then, the two demons of Scottish industry stepped up: unions and bookies. I was told very early on in the saga that there were 15 unions in a workforce of 8000, almost all of whom were still training. Some years ago, I was told that every line on production had its own "official" bookie, whom the company couldn't sack. Sometimes two, who got into endless fights and thefts. By a miracle, they produced tens of thousands of comfy, cuddly wee cars that no American muscleholic could ever recognize, but which are still loved today.
Those Stilleto, Imps spare wheels are in the wrong place! They should be on the front to hold it down, and at least give you a fighting chance to steer! 🤣 I raced Imps, back in the day.
I think it is all about getting grip on the back wheels! Anyway, less weight on the front makes for better photos!
@@blisteringbooks2428 LOL
except it would be illegal too..
Hey! Don’t they make trucks over yonder? 🏴☠✌
I got an cannon xl1 great to see you still using one. What do you use to record onto?
Actually my XL1 was stolen, I was checking out Topaz software to convert to HD 16:9. I was thinking about getting a XL2 and recording on a Ninja V, but I can record in 4K on my R6.
Good old ford escourt
Do you have to love or hate your car to drive on a road like this? 😄
A little bit of both, but mainly faith that your car will make it 😂
It's standard training for the pot holes on british roads
What do you mean? This is just a normal video of some Brits on the way to work

was the first car a old Skoda rapid
Was the little red 2cseat sports car panther calista?
The red ones were Marlins, the blue & silver one was a Panther
I want to see how many regs are still taxed and tested, bet over 3/4's of them are now washing machines or in old dusty garages.🤷🏼♂️
Check them out, then! I bet they are all still registered and going strong - believe it or not these cars are well maintained and looked after.
We will fight them on land..we will fight them in the air...we will fight them in the sea...we will never..never..never surrender!!!❤️💪🇬🇧🇺🇸🇺🇦✌️
it's a British tradition but coming with an Ax ok but a mk2/mk3 Ford and TT NSU it's a shame for these old grannies
Why not use the roads?
Is there a rule stating you must use the shittiest tires you can find?
I'm sitting here with my wee boy watching this as he eats his breakfast saying "Oh your grandad had one of those, and one of those and one of those and - oh an AX, your daddy had one of those" 🙂
"it doesn't necessarily look better than the original" - if I had one wee bit of creative criticism I'd say deinterlace it in your editing software which will get rid of the stripy "comb teeth" on movement.
I agree, it was an experiment, the change to 16:9 looks good, but I doubt I will bother again.
@@blisteringbooks2428 Definitely deinterlace though, and since it's coming off standard-def DV the colour range will be a little different than modern HDTV so it would benefit from a little balancing.
I'm more than happy to help out, if you can be bothered slinging massive DV files around the place 🙂
Jak w tym języku nazłość czyści.
Mam specyficzne zdanie z tego filmu z pięterka do lasu.
quite easy for vw beetle👍
Try this with a modern car.... Tesla? Hybrid? Not only smoking tyres... I guess...
Yeah, pretty ropey video quality. Great action though.
What is this sport ??!!
Classic Trials [actc]
British roads are so bad u gotta have 2 spare tires.
You've got no idea how close to the truth you are but it's not spare tyres you need,it's springs.

I feel like the British race suit is just rubber boots and shitty sweaters.
They are in the woods you dingbat and its pissing down, suppose you would have flip flops on..🤣
Dress for the mess...
Everyday dress where I come from 😂😂😂
These cars are too old to be raced. I have recently been to a similar race and all the cars are from around the turn of the century, both British, French, German, Italian. Swedish and Japanese that are considered boring.
This is bad for cars what's point buy a range rover not a imp for this
A Range Rover would not be eligible - two-wheel drive cars only.
@@saxon-mt5by but this is not correct terrain for 2 wheel drive cars?
