Tuskegee is a city in Macon County, Alabama, United States. It is the county seat and the most populous city in the county. The population was 9,395 at the 2020 census, down from 9,865 in 2010 and 11,846 in 2000.
Tuskegee was founded in 1833 by General Thomas Simpson Woodward, a Creek War veteran under Andrew Jackson. The city was laid out on land that had been ceded by the Creek Indians to the United States in the Treaty of Fort Jackson in 1814. Tuskegee was incorporated in 1843.
