No! I can say from experience. I had free install and a lease of 30 years. Every year however my payment to Tesla goes up. plus I also pay the local electric company any “excess” which is not generated by the solar panels and is currently about $150) and I have several panels. The total is about $250 a month. I don’t save a penny. Those months when most people don’t pay much electricity because it is warm, I still end up paying. So it actually ends up costing me!

We were considering some solar options and came across Tucson Electric Power's "Go Solar Home" option. The power is generated by a local TEP array and can can be fixed as long as 10 years. We chose that option as we could not use the tax credit the other options provided, and we now have a fixed payment regardless of our seasonal usage.

My sister just moved to Tucson last year and lives there year round and is considering several installations to help offset her substantial electricity bill, but her roof isn't suitable for solar so we are considering a ground mount system that will also provide shade to one of her walls that really heats up from the sun and some sort of a solar car port that will also provide shade for her car. We should get up to 30 kw when we're all done. Wish us luck!.
