    I never thought I would
    Like rock covered everywhere. But your video has totally proved that wrong. I really like how you have done this. No mowing grass all the time yet so many amazing plants still to catch your eye. I really really like this. So glad I watched your video. You have an amazing collection of plants.

    Beautiful. We can make some things happy here in Tucson, but there will be no aeoniums the height of a person. Lovely to see so many plants grown without all the heat stress and winter damage we can sustain. That 'Mission to Mars' will be getting even larger for you. And 'Falling Waters' will get big, too.

    I loved the tour. I loved your garden! The rock work is amazing, the large boulders are placed perfectly that you can plant in between the crevices. As far as the sad aloe in the pot I would recommend you plant it right we’re it was, it’s already adapted to that microclimate it just needs deeper space to grow. and for de-puping the agaves I usually dig a hole under the pup I want to remove and then with a crowbar I just push it down in that hole. I get them with roots and all. Or another way to do it is just to dig up the mother plant completely pull the pups off clean the plant the. Re set it! Thanks again for the video! Loved your vast variety or plants! Plant on

    Your beautiful garden is a credit to you and this was a lovely video to watch, got to see everything. May I ask how you deal with mealybugs? My Aeonium Inferno and Mardi Gras are taking a beating. I've been spraying with soapy water but not getting on top of them. Thanks

    • @atoowoombasucculentgarden
      @atoowoombasucculentgarden  Год назад

      I have tried several things for mealybugs, none of them worked well: Isopropyl alcohol, neem oil, even systemic granules (on my non-flowering plants). Right now I use undiluted methylated spirits in a spray bottle (good for garden tool sterilizing too), wet the plant all over with that, then about five minutes later rinse it off with plain water so it doesn't burn the leaves. Repeat every few days until all the eggs hatch and die. And even after all that, I'm still not sure it really works (my most infested potted plant they just kept coming back and I gave up). Sorry, I haven't found a tried-and-true method yet. Mealybugs do seem to prefer thirsty plants, so I can give them a soak and a bit of seaweed solution to help survive the mealies.

    First time seeing your video, love it! I am Brisbane, did u landscape with black plastic under the gravel and rocks?

    • @atoowoombasucculentgarden
      @atoowoombasucculentgarden  Год назад +1

      I only used cardboard I got free from work, except beside the house I used an old roll of plumbing root guard fabric we had leftover from an old project. The gravel has sunken into the dirt over time since the cardboard decomposed, but that doesn't worry me.

    Nice garden but many of the succulents need water.......succulents in full sun needs more water than those in shaded areas.

    Enjoyed the tour and do you know what kind of lizard the big one was?

    • @atoowoombasucculentgarden
      @atoowoombasucculentgarden  Год назад +1

      They are a family of Cunningham's skinks, and also at least 3 young Eastern water dragons we see every day. Sometimes a big Eastern blue-tongued skink we see about once per month basking with the Cunningham's. We've witnessed the Cunningham's adults quickly chase off larger water dragons.

    Love your garden and it gives me inspiration but am wondering if you get frosts at all and if so down to what temperatures?

    • @atoowoombasucculentgarden
      @atoowoombasucculentgarden  Год назад

      We usually get 3 or so nights with frosts per year, but it mostly stays above freezing during daytime unless wind chill is a factor. Looking at weather records, the lowest recorded temp was around -4C (25F), tho usually it only gets down to 1C (34F).
