- This footage is from an official work visit I did to Leicester LIP which is the main UKRL depot. UKRL already maintain GBRf's fleet of class 47s and 56s used on rail services moves and the partnership between both companies looks to be growing as UKRL may soon be maintaining GBRf's class 60 fleet (as they do for DCR's fleet) and it has also been decided to build the new class 99 depot there for the locos that are currently being built.
All footage was taken from a position of safety and in accordance with GB Railfreight's policies and safety standards. This is not an official video for GB Railfreight and the video footage, views and opinions are representing my channel and NOT GBRf. This also applies to UKRL who were hosting us.
Excellent video Ben. I want a job like yours! Those GBRf 47s look and sound great
Ok I am not sure why but how do I keep missing your comments. Yes there is some good perks in my job Matt. This was a good visit. 👍🏻
Superb video Ben, absolutley first class footage. I had forgotten just how tight the space in those 47 engine rooms was. That's great news about the possible 60 and 99 fleets being maintaned at Leicester in the future as well. Thanks for posting this great footage mate,
take care and all the best, Colin.
Thanks Colin. It was a fascinating visit and good to hear that it has an exciting future there. Hope you are well. Take care. Ben
Great footage mate 👍
Thank you Matt, pleased you enjoyed it 👍🏻
Excellent and informative video Ben. You seem to work for a very progressive company in the railway industry, everything I read and see about GBRf is always positive compared to the more doom and gloom from the passenger carrying companies.
Thank you for the kind words. Yes GBRf are a good company who are growing and trying to be as successful as possible. They look after their staff as well which is a rarity these days. We have had a hard year with incidents etc but we are still, as you said, progressing. Thanks as always for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Nice to see a few duffs and original grids still about i love the 56081 with the Tinsley depot badge still on it! Nice video of retro old-school locomotives 😎
Thanks Justin. Yes its great to see these classic locos still working well and in revenue earning service
@@benGBRf I wish there was loads more old-school locos about instead of all the ying ying shite sheds!
Amazing how this class 47 is still in revenue earning service, and indeed still exists?
I worked on this loco back in the early 80s when then it was 47 076 we overhauled it and I think it was then given the identity 47 625 ? I can't quite remember it's a long time ago ! We took out the vacuum braking system and made other general mods. I wonder how many miles this 47 has covered in its life time?
I would never have imagined back then City of Truro would still be here in 2022 doing daily graft, now she's one of the few!
Thanks Mike. It's lovely to hear your story regarding the 47 and in particular City of Truro.
I imagine the milage on it is phenomenal. Great to see it like this and still making money for the business. Regards, Ben
What a great video Ben well done, interesting future times at Leicester😎👍🏼Excellent views inside the 47,saw 081 yesterday and it doesn’t look that clean anymore!
Well done mate,regards Dave👍🏼
Thanks Dave. Yes its something different. A big thank you to UKRL for showing us around the depot and look at these wonderful locos we used to see so frequently. It's good to see the locos in good nick and still in revenue earning service. Yes a lot going on at Leicester it would seem. ATB. Ben
Great video. Always nice to see inside a 47.
Thanks Steve. It's amazing what's packed inside the shell of a 47 and it seems to go on forever when your in there as well
excellent video!
Thanks Tim
I now understand more about your visit to this depot Ben which you mentioned to me last week.
It’s a bit tight in the engine room of them class 47s.
Great video of how the yard is getting emptied for the future. Regards Mike.
Thanks Mike. Yes its interesting to see the development of this shed. Considering probably about 20 years ago or so it was just a loco graveyard.
Yes it's a bit tight in the engine room but great to see the powerful engine of this old workhorse. ATB. Ben
Exellent
Thank you Stephen
be nice to see a class 58 running again in the UK as I don't think any are in running order sadly!!!
Thanks for watching and commenting. You are right Justin it would nice to see 58 running again on the mainline. It don't think it will be anytime soon though.
Great video Ben. What are they doing with the 58?? Do you know
Thanks Chris. I did ask and they didn't disclose too much info but it sounds like it's a long way off being ready for the mainline at least. We live in hope though 🙏🏻
Great video Ben
Thank you Arnold
