I used to have a Holdsworth Professional back in the day. I was only 18 years old (now 60), so it was second hand. Team orange with blue decals if I remember 🙂.

That was the classic timeless colour way - orange and blue!

Well done on another bike saved. It did seem that the thunder started when you chose white cable outer, could be an ominous sign?

I hadn’t realised!! Clearly I’ve angered the bike gods with my choice 😁

In this case, i think that housing line would be better, if right brake lever was for rear, and left for front caliper. Not always, just sayin for this case.
    Great build, non the less!
Which bb did you use for this build?

Thanks very much!! Yeah continental lever set up might make a difference I suppose - although I’m not sure I would want to ride it that way 🙂
I always tend to use the YST threadless bottom brackets, they’re cheap enough and great quality - all the sizes you could need too

Hmmm, I wonder why there's a CTC sticker on a road bike ... interesting.

The CTC (Cyclists Touring Club) was pretty popular way back I believe. As someone who used to deal and restore vintage bikes, that sticker was usually a warning that the bike would be worn out and hiding lots of bodges and repairs 🤣🤣

@@Downhillsmoothtarmac I'll bear that in mind if I ever open my own shop 😅 !
Just thought it was bizarre to see a touring sticker on a bike not made for touring, is all. Maybe the old owner had one lying around and simply wanted to show off CTC membership...

You’re right it’s an odd choice but the previous owner had done some odd stuff to it! Including a triple chainset, extra bottle bosses and bullhorn bars!

NOT a real Pro, they were all Orange with Kingfisher blue panels and wrap-over seat stays ! This is just the copy-cat crap that they made in the 1980's.

Don’t think I’d ever call anything made from Reynolds 531 professional tubing “crap” - especially not a bike that rides this well…

Not correct, I currently own a 1972 Pro and it is the orange but with white lettering, no blue at all. Actually this very bike finished second in the 1975 Tour of Somerville, unfortunately not with me on it.
