Had issues with mud swallows building mud nests on our house. Put an owl with a bobble head out there and put a rubber snake. The owl did nothing, and those birds incorporated that rubber snake into their next nest.
I was thinking of one of those super blaster squirt guns. They would get the hint they’re not wanted and live to fly away. Good for stray cats as well.
It may be your tiny home, but it is the birds great, big gigantic mansion. I like your owl. You need to move it around once in awhile so they don't learn it's fake.
This is great helpful information. Birds make nest every year outside my garage/workshop. The awning is falling off. I'll try the things you suggested. 👍👍
Randy the next time you get food to go in an aluminum tray/bowl wash it out then poke a hole in the side, hand it up with some of that sparkly ribbon, it makes a very quiet wind chime and might deter the birds. A neighbor used it under his grape arbor when I was a kid!
Get an aluminum pie plate punch a whole put a string on it and hang it from the rafters, the calmest breeze will keep it motion and spooking the birds. Worked on r tomato plants very well.
We've had a serious problem with pigeons and other birds at two of our homes. The one thing that worked without fail was a product called "roost no more". I don't think they make it anymore, but they make something similar. It's like a caulk that you put anywhere birds might roost or nest. It is truly no fail. I've read that birds wise up to the plastic animals...I don"t know. Now if someone could help me figuring out how to keep the woodpeckers from drilling away on my roof!!!!
We put up an owl and it work for a while and then the birds would hang on it and poop on it! Only thing that worked for us was bird netting...Good Luck
I bet those things will work. You might try to find larger snakes. I witnessed a large black snake in my yard climbing up a post and getting into a robin's nest. I had been wondering why they were losing babies, one went missing about every other day and they had only recently hatched so I knew they hadn't fledged--they didn't even have feathers yet. Then saw the reason as the snake was getting the last little birdie.
Here where we live in Gilbert Arizona we have a real bird problem and they poop on everything so we bought plastic owls on Amazon and they sit around our house and supposedly scare off the birds. We also hired a company to come out and put spikes on everything on the roof that’s flat Made out of thin tin. It basically makes it where they can’t land on the roof at all. About $600 for that.
Rusty, I've been through this problem myself, Of all the things you mentioned, The only thing that really works is the Rubber snakes! Birds are terrified of snakes! Just hang them from the rafters, You already have some, but you need more; The problem is that nowadays big rubber snakes are hard to find.
It's a shame you can't live with it, as they'll only be there for a short while. Build nests, lay eggs, and raise their young. Think of them as pets that you don't have to feed and take care of. But that's just me. And as always, you do you, and I'll do me. Peace.

The owl helps a lot. This year I haven’t seen many birds.
I could always send pictures to you of my brother in law Rusty. It would surely scare the birds away.I wouldn't even charge taxes. Lol

Good ideas there Rusty. I hung up a few old CDs in two spots where swallows try to nest, working so far thankfully.

I remember when you had trouble with birds in Cloudcroft.
Looks like a good strategy without actually killing the birds. 👍
Check with Jan or other neighbors...they have probably had/cured the same problem

12' python
I have seen a product applied to the surfaces where birds land that is sticky and it also burns their feet. It seemed effective.
Illegal in Texas
Good ideas on deterrents. Thanks, Rusty!

wow...thanks
Back in the day AOL would mail out lots of shinny computer disk... I would hang them by a string to protect the bright red cherries.
From the look of your carport, the only place that has a surface for a bird nest is on the maroon metal near the lift motor.

Hello Rusty, do u have an outside tv? Greetings from Sth Australia.
I tried the owl it's head moves around with the wind the birds sit next to the owl
so far no nests under cover
Smart thinkin . I used c d ‘s an it worked also .
Rusty, I don't think it's nesting season yet
It is in south Texas.

Good FYI
🇺🇸👍🏻🇩🇪greetings from the windy northsea

Cool video talk Rusty lol
The only things that actually work are physical barriers like chicken wire or some kind of fencing or bird spikes😁
they all help but you need to move them around ever so often
Mine land on my fake owls lol. I heard and seen fishing line and hand old cds 💿.
Silver wind hanging items
I thought about putting a ledge all the way around my carport and a ramp up to it to let my cat up there 👆

Romeo will keep those birds out of there. Let that boy run.
Hi Rusty
How about that. 🐦🐦🐦 🦉🐍 👻
B.B gun....Edit: typed that before the ending of the video. Appears the prior owner had the same idea
😊👍👍
Shotgun he's discouraged ✔
The fake owls always seem to work.
Put those on buildings in cities. Keep pigeons out. Of course if they do nest wash them out🥃
Amazon : robotic solar powered owl works. $33.98
ok
Those owls don't do anything. Trust me I know.
