Kate is one magical artist. No tour, no promotion, no video yet she manages to capture the heart of so many people. There are time when I quote her and I get the usual "who is Kate Bush" response. I'm happy I happen to belong to this exclusive club. Anybody here think her best material might still be ahead of her?
absolutely my favorite song on 'aerials'....it is absolutely exquisite and i sometimes have to listen to it twice i a row...it makes me feel so DAMN good!! the whole album is just so soothig and transportive.....what a great way to spend $17.00cdn!
This song is just so sublime. The way it builds on it's lyrics and beats until we reach a crescendo of dance(riverdance anyone?) but is so right and so emotional.I can't fault this on any level.And to cap it off it fades into birdsong. Is there anything more recoginsable or more peaceful?Kate is genius and so so hope she does another album soon. My life would cherish it and all the more barren without it.Bravo!

I only recently heard this song which I heard as a choice of Author David Mitchell on Desert Island Discs. Incredible composition and exquisite lyrics. I love the moody double bass, unexpected key changes and dynamic contrasts. Add to that a thrilling tempo change, call and response voices, flamenco clapping and bird call to finish! And that’s just scratching the surface. Casting aside a technical analysis though, the song transports me and takes me on a journey which I want again and again. This is going to be one of my desert island discs 🙂.

@99Matthias99, that was my first impression of Aerial as well, but you miss the point if you're looking for The Dreaming Part II. Listen to it on its own merits. She experiments a lot with timing and space on Aerial - vague description, but listen to Pi and Nocturn in particular. The vocal style on Nocturn is unlike anything she's ever done before. And yes, the whole album has a lazy Sunday afternoon feel, but much of it is after all about motherhood.
Just to read all these other paens of praise for the total treasure that is this lady gladdens me so much. And how indeed could anyone not be moved and transported by the ageless beuty that Kate Bush creates?

From: To be invisible...`Eye of Braille, Hem of Anarac...Stem of Wallflower...Hair of Doormat.`..I`m a late comer to her absolute brilliance but also a tribute here to her ability of placing various musicians...for instance, Gary Brookner`s input in Sunset and of course, the exquisite drumming of Stuart Elliott.
I love how this song is arranged with Kate on the piano accompanied by the acoustic bass. She could probably make a few successful jazz trio or quartet albums along these lines. Such a clean sound. Great video work here too, thanks for posting this.

Probably her best song on Aerial. I would rate it among her best songs ever. In this bunch of favorites I include Hello Earth, Moving, Saxophone Song, Night of the Swallow and Moments of Pleasure.

I live in Orkney, just a cosmic stone's throw across the Sea of the North. It is not as good here in the summer, so far as the solar fire goes. I dread the winter, but we get at least 6 hours grey daylight here in winter. 3 hours is bad. Bad. Oh my God. 3 hours? So bad then , I must visit Sweden in winter. Then come back in summer. And, by the way, this song could cheer up the bleakest Swedish winter. ps what do you do during the 21 hours of darkness. Cry? Drink? Watch the telly? Drink? Sleep?

One reviewer went as far as mentioning "purchase Florence and the Machine's album as it's much, much better than Kate's". I should have known better than listening to that kind of idiotic comment as we all know, most of the time the reviewers know very little about good music.

@brukarov Sounds a bit like Orkney. Apart from the slightly less sun hours and the snowmobile. The lazier Orkney folk, like me, stock up with cheap supermarket alcohol, although some people still make the brain twisting "home brew".
@marshfish agree, her voice has noticibly deepened from soprano to mezzo-soprano and lost much of it's harmonic overtones - age and smoking are to blame. But her ability to deliver a song in a way that makes you feel it improves with age, as does her song-writing ability. There's still no one to match her.
@grinderman77 I rate Kate's latest album ,'50 Words for Snow' as one of her greatest musical achievements .It is intimate sounding and has a pleasingly full and warm quality despite the title of the album !

But yes : the others songs of the " Aerial " album are some very weak music ( with a weak voice too ) ; it seems that the wonderful talent of Kate Bush, as composer, has disappeared ( if you compare with what she did on her 5 first wonderful albums - + " The Sensual World" on a some way - )
