EVERYTIME my kiddos need help opening something to eat it always goes the same way: “nooooo daddy...don’t eat it!” Dad: “what? You know there’s a dad tax.” 😂🤣😂🤣 those bars look super yummy, I may need to make some of those this week.
Hallo from South Africa 🇿🇦
Thank you for sharing your recipe. Just one question. How much is a stick of butter? Butter not in sticks available here.
@@liezelyoung3817 125 ml
Liezel, i googled it and it says its 4 ounces x
@@sheilablackburn183 thank you very much, but we also don't measure in ounces here. 😊
Helpful hint: when you spray the dish/ pan, place it on the open dishwasher door. This prevents spray getting everywhere!
Great tip. TFS 👍
Yes, saves the sticky mess from your counter
Thanks
That's brilliant! And another reason to give my husband to convince him for a dishwasher. Lol
Thank you! I always make a mess with cooking spray. ☹️
You know when you can still laugh with a man after many years, he's a keeper. And the fact that you laughed and didn't yell when he stuck his finger in a fresh cake was a sure sign that you're a keeper too, Dawn. Love the laughter!
This was way to cute!!
We make these all the time but we change it up a ton.
1. Strawberry cake mix with white chocolate chips
2. Lemon cake mix with white chocolate chips.
3. German chocolate cake mix with chocolate chips and coconut.
4. And the list goes on. BUT we call them BROWNIES.
Y’all are my favorite!!
We need to see more outtakes on a regular basis. Now I want them!
"Oh that got cancelled" I LOVE IT!!! Made me laugh out loud!!!
Made me laugh too
So funny!
Me too!!
out of the mouths of babes, right? So funny!
1/2 cup butter for my fellow Canadians! Can’t wait to try these! I make the from scratch version but it would be nice to dump and go and experiment with all the different cake flavours! Today we’re using rainbow bits cake mix!
Your daughter is so sweet. Love your family.
Your daughter is precious! Those cookies look good, I will definitely make note of this recipe!
Aw, Daddy!!!😁 sounds familiar!! So cute. Great job, Adeline!!
“I thought you were trying to lose weight”
“Oh, that got cancelled”
😂😂😂
Thanks, girls!!! That sounds DELICIOUS!!
And, the best thing for me is, it’s super easy to make that gluten-free! I already have a g/f cake mix! (might sound yucky, but most people can’t tell the difference!)
Oh right!! That's awesome!!!
I didn’t even think of gf cake mix! Woo hooo bring on the cookie bars 😍
Will you let us know how it turned out? Pretty please?
I just made a gluten free version (Pillsbury GF yellow cake mix). It was good but it came out a little on the dry side. I think I'll add more butter next time.
One of my favorite desserts for a pot luck or family gathering🥳 P.S. I add chopped walnuts or pecans to my recipe, my family loved nuts in their cookies and cakes 😱 Thanks 😊
Pamala Hanson Haven’t tried this but I will be adding the chopped walnuts as well! I wonder about a chocolate cake mix ... might taste like a good brownie? Have you ever tried that?
Yes, I want a nut in every bite.
She is your mini me. Just adorable! ❤️
I made this last night and it is gone now. I used mini chocolate chips and yellow cake mix. They are good! They are better when they are cooled and chilled. Mine took 25 minutes in the oven. Thank you for the video!
Awesome job, Adeline! My 8 year old daughter tells me that she loves watching the minimal mom with me *only* if Adeline is there. She wants to play with you and really thinks you're awesome. And I think everyone else can agree with that! Hope to see more videos like this!
Thank you, Adeline! My 13-year old daughter loves to cook & bake too... Please share more of your favorite recipes! 😋
I just made these today for a small family gathering. I took a leap & did a double batch in a 9x13 pan, baking it first for 30 mins., then about 8 more, until golden brown. Like Mama always did, I tested the middle with a butter knife. Done! The bars were different than what I grew up on (Mama's, of course), but delicious! My family loved them. Thanks very much for the video & the recipe card. God Bless!
I can’t wait to try these with a scoop of vanilla blue bell! Yummy.
Oh my, that sounds awesome!!
Thank you…no truly…I really, really mean THANK YOU!!! My son was diagnosed with a tree nut allergy when he was 3…he is now 19. For the past 16-years for every event, birthday, celebration, party, get together…ANYTHING…I made all of the desserts to bring to these functions because I knew that at least one thing would be “safe” for my son to eat. Pretty quickly friends and family named me the dessert queen and it was an expectation for me to always bring the dessert…but also with that expectation…I felt that I needed to make something different each and every time. Lately I have been dreading get-togethers because I just didn’t have the time or energy to pour into making a dessert. (Meanwhile…nut allergy boy is now off in college and doesn’t go to half of these events anymore.). Then YOU came along with your wonderful videos on how to simplify life. In another video “The only reason we still eat together” you talked about simplifying the menu for gatherings. Holy cow…what a game changer for me! It was like you GAVE ME PERMISSION to stop with the dessert overload! And then you shared this fantastic recipe!!! I made it for a 4th of July party and they were just as much as a hit as all my other desserts!!! So this is it…my go-to dessert…simple, easy and delicious! I’m no longer in the kitchen hours making something and I actually look forward to gatherings and not dreading “what will I bring?” Thank you!!!
Hahaha - no it isn't too many chocolate chips. #neverenough. 😍 This is perfect timing! I owe a co-worker a treat and will make this now and deliver at work tomorrow!! Thanks! 🍫
This needs to become a regular series!
Makes me happy that ya’ll shop at Aldi. In a “I’m just like a celebrity” kind of way…. Because I fangirl over you and Dana K White 💜
We had a friend whose dad passed away. These were so easy and quick to make yesterday and they loved them! This will definitely be an easy go to from
Now on!
These are my almost 30 year old daughters favorite. She calls them "Can't Leave Alone Bars".
Love that!!!!!
I love trying new combinations. Red velvet with white chips works very well!
Your daughter is adorable! Thank you for the great recipe.♥
I quite love this recipe. And it is for sure the easiest and quickest dessert to take somewhere at the last minute. I have varied it sometimes. (1) I have put 1/2 bag chocolate chips, and 1/3 cup dried cranberries, that was good. (2) 1/2 cup of dried cranberries that I poured boiling water over to soften them, then added 1/2 bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips in with the cranberries including the water. (3) 1/2 bag of butterscotch chips and 1/2 bag of chocolate chips, that was good. (4) Today: about 1 cup mixed glazed fruit (the kind you usually use for fruitcake). I can’t wait till it is cool so I can taste it. It looks and smells good. When you don’t have the ingredient you need ~ you do with what you have. And it has turned out well so far. Thank you for this quick & easy & tasty treat. 😁 👍 😋 💝 💖 🤎🧡 💚 ❤️
Woot Woot! Total success with all 8 of our guests. Thank you!
I made these with a Devil’s Food cake mix and espresso chocolate chips - AMAZING! Thanks for sharing!
I made these today. We use unsweetened butter for almost everything. To get that cookie sweet salt flavor, I did 2 quick grinds with my sea salt grinder. Delicious! I like cake mix recipes.
We made these today and they were delish! My 11 and 8 year olds made them by themselves today. They were so good we made another batch for our neighbors! Thank you!!
Thanks for posting this. My grandson just started driving and loves to pop up at my house from time to time (pre-quarantine). I'm using this recipe for a quick and sure to please snack for when we can visit again.
Wow you must be such a proud mom... Adeline never ceases to amaze me. She is such a smart and pretty young lady!
Thank you Adeline! I have all of the ingredients too so they will be a perfect treat to share with my neighbors! Super cute video! 💗
My uncle stirred his piping hot coffee with his finger. There was no feeling in his finger but I didn't know that at the time. I thought he was Superman. Love cookies bars. Make them all the time. TYFS.
OHH MYYY GOSH She's adorable!!! 💕 Your ENTIRE family is sooo beautiful. Congratulations 💘💫💥
These were SUPER! To one batch I added peanut butter chips AND white chocolate chips! WOW, everyone was blown away. MAKE 'EM! :) Thank you so much!
I made the Chocolate Chip Cookie bars the other night when our daughter/husband/grans came over for our family supper....we devoured the 9x13 pan for our dessert! They are super easy, quick & delicious! I had a few miscellaneous packages of chips I wanted to use up..white, peanut butter, special dark and then the rest to 2C with mini chips! My 3 year old grandaughter took one bite and she said Wow these are really good! Thank you for sharing and creating the cute recipe card!
Thanks we make dessert on Fridays adding this to the rotation
No - not too many chocolate chips. Love it. Thank you Adeline . You two are a good duo ❤️❤️
So fun how Tom ended it! You’re such a sweet family! ❤️
Tried these at potluck and I was shocked to find out it was so easy and so tasty and bonus is that it’s a channel I love to watch!
she is amazing I am so happy to see her being so grown. She is really good on the video!!!!!! A natural like her Mom and Dad.
My daughter is the same age as Adeline and was very excited to watch this and make these Cookie Bars! We just put them in the oven :)
We gave the ingredients and recipe to our kids teachers for Christmas. It was a hit.
Your daughter is amazing. Loved her video ❤️❤️❤️
Just made our first batch of these for my dad and step-mom who are visiting. Can't wait to try them when they cool a little. They loom great.
I’ve also done this recipe with a chocolate cake mix and white chocolate chips and a chocolate cake mix with caramel chips. Delicious!
Have you tried gooey butter bars?
1 box of yellow or white cake mix
1 stick butter
3 eggs
1/2 cup pecans
1 box powder sugar
8 oz cream cheese
*Mix cake mix, butter and 1 egg.
*Spread into bottom of a greased and floured 9x13 pan
*Sprinkle with 1/2 the pecans. Set aside.
* beat powder sugar with cream cheese and other two eggs.
* pour over top of crust in 9x13
Sprinkle with remaining pecans
*bake at 350 for 40 min. Let cool and cut into squares. These freeze well. Don't let them bake dry they are suppose to stay moist.
We love these.......happy baking💗😀💗
Dad’s are great! We can’t live without them!
I forgot to comment the first tome you gave us this I made them and the kids LOVED them! And I loved how easy they were to make! Thanks!!
Your daughter did a very good job. I like the suggestions about sharing too.
More cooking videos with your daughter, please! Mine loved watching her easy recipe!
I'm making the cookie bars for another potluck. Everyone loves them.
I just made these with a chocolate cake mix and Reese’s peanut butter chips! Excellent!
that is my favorite combo!
I use the defrost setting to melt or soften butter in the microwave. Every microwave is different. For one stick of butter, I put it on auto defrost, 2 (which would be .2 pounds) because I can't do a "1" on my microwave. If I'm softening, I don't need it to finish. If I'm melting, it will be mostly melted at the end.
I know this video is older, but this is excellent! Cake mix is great for some “quick and dirty” recipes like cookies and crumble/cobbler. This is another recipe that’s a good “go-to”. They also work well with gluten-free cake mixes (I have celiac so I’m gluten-free).
Have made these bars. They are still in the oven. I used a chocolate cake mix and added walnuts as well as the chocolate chips. I hope it works. I’m sure my kids will eat them!
looks so good! more lazy recipes please😂
Very sweet!!! She’s quite the little baker. ♥️👩🏼🍳
I made this last night directly after the video, I only had white cake (not yellow) and it still worked out! I just wanted to let everyone know, just in case! ♡
Me too!
Love and laughter fills your house and your hearts...love you guys!!!
Also meant to say that you have a lovely family. Bless you all. G Ire
I made these today for my husband and he gave them two thumbs up. 👍👍
These are a favorite from when you first shared. I made 2 batches after watching this video. I made one with yellow cake mix and one with fudge, and the spread half of each in 2 pans. It turned out great! Gave one to my daughter’s family, and it made everyone happy to have their favorite, or the option to have both! 😁 So easy! Sooo good!!! Tfs girls! 💗💗
Just made these for my mom to comfort her as she recovers from surgery. Thank you for the delicious and easy recipe - it was a hit!
Your daughter is darling! Thank you for the recipe 💕
Thank you Dawn and Adeline!!!! This is SUPER!!!!
So simple, and yet so good.
1st time I tried was with a vanilla cake mix. OK, but 2nd time was a yellow cake mix, with milk chocolate chips. Yep it was so good. Thanks
Stumbling on this video again. I totally forgot about this recipe!!! They are so good!
Made these today for a potluck tomorrow. Tried a bar and they are delicious! And so easy. Thank you so much!!
Just made this last night with my newly 4year old, she mostly did EVERYTHING, except for spraying the pan and putting it in the oven, so simple and best of all sooooo good! Thank you so much for sharing!💖🤗🍪
I made these tonight with a couple of substitutions. I had French vanilla cake mix and triple chips chocolate chip mix so I used those. Huge hit in our house and so easy! Thank you for sharing!
What a cute ending!
Now everyone is making them ... yumm
We loved watching this! All my kids watched with me. And they identified with the “Daaaadddyyy!!” parts at the end 😂
I made these but used frozen blueberries instead of chocolate chips, just for fun. They were sooo good!!! Thanks for sharing!
We love your family! I homeschool my boys who are 6 and 9. I showed them this video and my 6 yo said that he wants to make it, and he kept talking about what Adeline did next like she was here cooking with him😆😁
We are making these as give away Christmas treats. Merry Christmas!❄️❤️🎄
Well ya know what to do for him for Father's Day now! Lol
I just made these while the kiddos napped. It was soooo easy!
I am putting yellow cake mix on my grocery list! Thanks. My daughter is so excited about making these that she might just use the chocolate cake mix we have on hand.
My daughter just made these. They smell SO good!
Had to try it. I used a vanilla cake mix and I think golden would be better. Everyone loved them.
Loved this video! Mother daughter episodes are so sweet to watch with my daughter!
HiDi, I am your silent fan. I love and connect with your content so much! I watch your videos when I feel overwhelmed and they have a calming effect on me. Thank you for your videos. And I am loving this video. Much love from India to both you and your daughter ❤️
Yessssss Quick and easy is key. I don't like cooking so this is perfect.
I'm making these for our Independence Day cookout with family! Thanks for sharing!
Just made these with a devils food cake mix white chips and pecans. Fabulous!!
You two are adorable.....seriously I’m not even kidding❤️ you rocked it Adaline. More quick recipes please
I am delivering this to my 10 year old granddaughter tomorrow. Thx for the wonderful idea!
Thank you! My oldest turns 15 next week and asked for these for his birthday instead of cake!
Great job, Adeline!
Dawn, did you change your hair color back, or was this video made before the hair color change? Your hair is always so cute..I'm silently envious of the fact that you can do cute side pony tails and look so professional. I can never pull it off 😬.
This was previously recorded! And thank you, I definitely don't consider myself as a the "good at hair" type so I appreciate that! 😉❤️
Your family is so adorable and funny and that daddy really can really torment can’t he?!!! TFS. I’m still laughing. Love you bunches
💐💐💐💕🙋♀️💕🐶💕🐶
My son saw this video with me and went to his grandma's house and told her about the recipe. She had all the ingredients and they made them today! They are sooo good! I think they are better than cookies!
Homemade cookies can be just as easy though. I make them all the time, basically same as you did but I used 3 cups flour and 1.5 cups brown/white sugar mix. That’s it I don’t use baking soda to any of my recipes and it always comes out perfect. This is a good alternative if you don’t want all the man made stuff and my family asks for them daily so I know they are good. Add walnuts/vanilla or whatever you want to your likings
I was visioning a small canning jar with the cake mix and chocolate chips already mixed with a little recipe tag attached for a gift with pretty ribbon ext 🥰🤩 awesome recipe! Thanks so much
I made these and my family devoured them! We have 4 kids also, a little older, ages 19, 17, 16, and 12. I made more 3 days later!!! And SO easy!!
Adeline, thank*you for your kindness in sharing this recipe with us. They taste so good. There are so many flavor combinations one can make.
You may have just gotten me and a bunch of trouble! As soon as I watch this, I had to get up and make some. But I didn't have any yellow cake mix, so I swapped the yellow for devil's food and swapped the semi sweet chocolate chips for white chocolate chips. It will be up in 19 minutes. I'll let you know how they went.
So they turned out a bit more like browniesbut a bit more cake-like than I would have liked. I think next time I might add a half a cup of brown sugar to make it more caramel chewy. But no one complained about them! LOL
Thanks for sharing I was just watching this and thinking I only have Devils food cake mix in my pantry
I’m going to watch this with my kiddos. Would ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ to see more videos showing minimal recipes with kids. Each of my 3 cook dinner one night a week and I think it would be fun and inspiring to get new meal ideas from videos like this. Plus it might pique their interest in some of the other great ones on other minimalism topics like the stuffed drawer theory. Thank you!
Aw your daughter is just adorable! She’s lucky to have you as a mom!
