No, a true peak and tune would be setting the Carrier and AMC (Modulation) also make sure the Bias voltage was not to high or you would have bleed over to adjacent channels/frequencies. Hope this explains it.
No, for your $39.95 they adjust the output power beyond the engineered power handling capability of the internal components so you'll burn up the finals sooner and have to come back for a repair job. It's called job security.

@@StevenKA9MOT yes the antenna and a good coacial cable ( I use a home made dipole and 50 ' of coacial cable swr 1.2 to 1.5 on 10m and 11m and better if I tune it on 12m ( swr 1.1 )..I use #10 copper cable for the home made dipole and 50' of 75 oms cable Yes a dipole is 75 oms & the radio is 50 oms but this made a broad band antenna on 10m, 11m & 12 m ( more inf on antenna s & coacial cables in the ham antenna book's )

@@dus777 Boy, you're not kidding! I went and purchased one on eBay. I was looking for a replacement for my aging 10 Meter beacon that would last a while at 5 watts. The delay with CW is pretty long (maybe half a second or more) so I decided to program my auto-keyer for longer dot/dash duration. The problem is that the delay is not even constant, it varies. Plus, you are spot on with the key clicks!! I wound up recapping a mid to late 80s Cobra 148 gtl and it works flawlessly (on AM with the keyer wired to a mic connector). Now what should I do with the Lincoln 2 plus? I've done the 11 meter mod and realigned the receiver (it was WAY out of alignment from the factory) and I guess it'll put it on eBay for someone to enjoy. Thanks for the reply. 73, my friend!
I got this rig for 10 & 12 meter CW use and it's really a bust. The first key down is always cut short, so the only work around is to always start with a dash, or dah. There is no adjustment for the delay. There is no way to begin TX with a manual PTT, you have to use the key jack. If you use the clarifier, the first key note will also chirp very badly, everytime you start. They do not utilize an offset between CW transmit and receive, so you need to use split mode and set it for - (minus) 700 hz. The CW receive mode BFO is set the exact center of the filter, so you hear both sides of the other operator, instead of single signal, like on USB or LSB. You might can fix that in the hidden service menu. As a radio technician for 33 years and a ham for 48 years, I've worked out a way to correct these issues on my radio, but it requires intense modifications. So, if you want to use this radio for CW, it's not worth the trouble, but as a SSB and FM on ten meters, it's probably quite good.
I saw the Lincoln II on Amazon for $225 so I ordered it. The conversion to 11m on the Lincoln II is simply cutting a white wire. My eyesight sucks and I don't have soldering equipment, and don't want to buy any for a one time use, so I went with the Lincoln II. Turns out the description on Amazon was wrong and I got the II+. There are no local CB shops in my area of Connecticut (Danbury area) and I wasn't going to pay to ship it somewhere to have the conversion done, so it went back to Amazon. It sucks because $225 for a Lincoln II+ was a great deal.
John Smith which Yaesu are you referring to? And for what usage? For use on CB, due to its higher modulation, it is way better than any Yaesu that I’ve used. I’m a truck driver and a licensed amateur radio operator. I’ve used my Lincoln on several 10 meter repeaters and unlike my RCI 2950 N2, with the Lincoln I’ve never got a bad audio report. A local friend says the sound quality is almost as good as my Icom 706 Mk II G. I hope that helps.

I'm just curious though by the comparison of the video, what watt resistor would do the job. I went to my only still existing RADIO SHACK location in a little Mom & Pop owned home theater and security system store that are keeping the RADIO SHACK product power for distribution alive with the Corporation and still have the brick N mortar building of THEIR OWN ownership, using the Radio Shack for purchasing power still in tact, to assist their own business and in doing so, keep their parts availability going for their main design. But to sell CB and HAM stuff is just a benefit for home builders, look yours up. Unfortunately they're out of anything but 1/8th watt whereas in comparison, I'll want at least a 1/2 watt. its not that hard to do, i just done my 2nd mod, just need good lights and a good iron and its done, 1e for 10 1k res and the iron was 15e,

Some companies will sample you the resistor if a you need is 1. Just call and ask the sakes rep if he can sample you 1 resistor
