- USMNT interim coach Mikey Varas has called up his first (and hopefully only) USMNT Roster for September friendlies against New Zealand and Canada. Surprise names like Diego Kochen, Auston Trusty and Marlon Fossey join usual names like Christian Pulisic, Gio Reyna and Folarin Balogun. Cameron Carter-Vickers, Tyler Adams, Tim Weah, Sergino Dest and Kevin Paredes miss out through injury.

Sorry about the loss of your dog. Our last Lab died of cancer & it was very tough to watch.
Canada has injuries to 3 of their main starters (Tajon Buchanan, Ismael Kone & Sam Adekugbe). So it is a good time for both teams to give others a try, as Canada did in the Copa semi-final match, when Marsch played mostly the B squad & they outplayed Uruguay, but unfortunately gave up a very late goal in extra time, to tie it at 2 & then lost in penalties.
This upcoming match on September 7th will not be a typical "Friendly", as the U.S. will want to make up for their Copa early exit & Canada will want to show consistency, after a very successful Copa tournament. So both teams should give it their all.

Sorry to hear about Taco. Same thing happened to me less than a year ago with my cat. Diagnosed and gone in the same day. It's blindsidingly painful but just try to remember the good times. All the best, Pete.
UK employment contract law has some mandatory steps and waiting periods for legal consultation that can't be waived. I'm not totally sure those procedures also apply to the FA, but if they do, that may be the reason for the delay on Poch.

Pete, so sorry to hear about Taco. Hang in there and give him the best quality and quantity of life you can. A lot of mushroom supplements that seem to help dogs with cancer, but more than that, tons of treatment options south of the border. I took my dog down to Mexico for treatment when he was exhibiting neurological issues and needed some expensive tests and treatment. I was shocked to see how much better the quality of care was there (both in Sonora and Mexico City)--way better, way more knowledgeable and competent than any vet that I've ever experienced stateside (and I've had my dogs treated at the best veterinary hospitals in Texas--no comparison to the options in CDMX). Stay positive, think outside the box!

I don’t know if he is cap tied to Argentina, but if we still can we need to try and get Taty Castellanos. He would be a game changer for the US, create a standard of expectation for the number 9 spot and he would fit into our team profile.
He wanted to play for us but unfortunately something fell off, don’t remember what it was but I also commented this on this channel last year

Diego Kochen should be given both matches, Schulte got the Olympics and did not impress, Turner and Horvath have been awful recently. It's best to give him the 2 friendlies and see if he's good enough to take the #1 shirt right now or he needs more seasoning.
I am sure that you gave Taco a good life. Also, there is some hope with the younger age groups having goalies that can use their feet but you are talking about U15/U16.
Barcelona has also tappped Kochen to replace Ter Stegan in the next few seasons.

Pete... Gio is the primary backup to BOTH Sabi and Brandt, and Sabi is might very well get benched soon. Dortmund literally has nobody else on the roster to play as a more attacking mid, and they intentionally did not bring in a mid (other than Gross) because of their plans of rotating Gio. Against Bremen, Dortmund was forced to sub on Ramy once their entire back line got a yellow, in addition to Nmecha once Schlotti got his red in attempt to preserve the point. Circumstances prevented Gio from subbing on.

If kochen was called up you can believe varas was in touch with poch and they discussed who should be in camp. Poch needs a technical keeper that can play with the ball at his feet.
When has Poch required a keeper with great distribution? Lloris, Donnarumma, and Sanchez have varying levels in their distribution abilities, none of which are elite at it. Sure it’s not a bad thing to have a good passing keeper, but I’d hardly say it’s necessary for Poch, I think it’s just necessary for you
I don’t have a preference with keepers so long as the system used plays to their strengths. I also never said poch needed an elite keeper to play out the back just that he needs one that is comfortable on the ball.

Hate me but Zach Stefen deserves another chance.
My issues is the US loves to cap-tie players just to do it or block other teams then leaves the players high and dry later with very little chance to join the roster. Playing time is so important.
Of course the player is mostly responsible for their own development but so is federation. They negotiate through many channels to get players to go to x or y. Unfortunately many times to the detriment to the player.
