    For your ice cooler you can drill some holes in the bottom of the lid and spray some foam installation into it which helps a lot. That was one of the main difference between the cheaper coolers and the real costly ones on a RUclips video when the guy cut open some coolers. Great video! Thanks

      I'd give another possibly better tip. Those foams or some are known to off gas, cut the holes in the top of the lid so the offgas goes out, or just seal it really good

    You can freeze the eggs in your container also. I use gatorade bottles. Dont fill too to the top. Leave room. Then those frozen eggs keep your food cold also. So long as you dont want eggs on the 1st day or 2.

    And one thing I’ve discovered a long time ago is snap sealable Tupperware containers you put anything in those and even if they’re soaking in the water for days they don’t ruin your food and I’ve kept vegetables kale onions hummus wrap kind of stuff - beets and carrots all shredded into a container like that and it was still fresh at the end of the event.

    Another reliable way for storing cooked food is: "Bake" 0.5 liters glass bottles in the oven for 20 minutes at medium heat and leave them there. Boil (baking would overheat them) covers and leave in the hot water afterward. Take bottles from the oven, and fill the bottle with boiling hot food to the top (leaving as little space as possible). It is important that bottles do not cool down significantly or they can crack due to a difference in temperature. Use the hand gloves and put the cover on, making sure that you don't touch the inner part of the bottle. When the food inside cools, the vacuum will keep the cover very tight. That way, the food inside is sterile and can remain edible for 2-3 weeks minimum. The second thing that can be done is any sort of meat that can be deep-fried. Deep-fry it at home, and keep submerged in oil. It will remain good until after the burn, if not consumed. In both cases, all you have to do is to reheat the food and enjoy.

    If you can do what I do: precooked delicious meals in vacuum locked bags - just like leading up to the burn, do more home cooking and if it tastes good or ya thing this is a good meal, bag a serving, freeze em bring for easy taste meals on playa

    I never thought about using cardboard! What I have used in my cooler that also works great is the cheap, silver emergency blankets. i use one to wrap up the dry ice, then use another to line the cooler. works awesome.

    I think your video is great I mean no one person has ever captured everything when it comes to dealing with a cooler and food and ice and it’s just it’s a big thing and it takes years to figure out what to do and I’ve been 14 times and I still bring too much food. And the to go food is a great idea I usually stop in Alturas or something and grab some fried chicken dinner you know I was just some something that was prepared and just kind of snack on that for days

    Apples are delicious! When my mom used to pack my lunch she would cut up an apple and put lemon juice on it so it wouldn’t turn brown, and then tuck the sliced apple into a baggie. Problem solved! Don’t need to worry about apple core moop any more :)

    I thought it was a fantastic video lots of good information thank you so much. lettuce and salad stuff. I mean seriously I know I’ve said three times those lockable Tupperware containers 👍 saves your ice chest from. Goo water and it keeps food fresher longer it’s amazing and the ice. buying ice at anyone of the three ice stations is fun I’ve even worked behind the counter before and of course that’s fun too everything is burning man as amazing. so cheers thank you I wish I would’ve seen this before 2019 cause I think that’s when you were talking about right? Anyway we have a camp called elavant rising we serve tacos yummy freaking tacos five nights during the festival so stop by in 2021.

    PLACE MEAT IN ONE COOLER AND VEGGIES/BEVERAGES IN ANOTHER. I WOULD ONLY DRINK AND BATH WITH THE VEGGIE/BEVERAGE WATER. ALSO PUT YOUR ICE IN 1 GALLON ZIPLOCK BAGS TO KEEP THE ICE MELT CLEAN.

    • @IamPowerSurgeOfficial
      @IamPowerSurgeOfficial  5 лет назад

      Dry ice actually worked for us magically I had one cooler with dry ice and frozen meat And Otter pops that was still frozen called seven days later I very rarely had to go get ice like everyone else.
      I would say the perfect set up now is one large cooler with dry ice that you hardly ever open and the second cooler with regular ice for chilled but not frozen food

    Chocolate is good at Burningman if you put it in one of those syllables Tupperware containers it’ll keep in there for ever but I find that I don’t eat I don’t really crave chocolate and candy as much at Burning Man as I thought, however I do bring some sweet pastries and they don’t last long

    Great ideas. I went to BM this year for the first time and LOVED IT!!! Fell totally in love with the Playa and Burning Man. I was part of a camp that provided a kitchen with a fully cooked dinner each day (yummy rice, beans, and veggies dishes. We all had to take turns cooking a dinner and washing dishes). Breakfast and lunch was on our own (although the kitchen did provide pancake mix and bacon if people wanted to cook some up.) So I only brought snacks and some lunch stuff. Next year I'm camping with friends and will have to bring ALL my own food. Thanks for the awesome ideas - especially about the eggs, and how to store your food. PS. Canned fruit goes great with peanut butter sandwiches. Those two together made up most of my breakfasts each morning - that meal keeps me full for about 4 or 5 hours.

      I’m glad you had a great first time you only get to be a virgin once! One thing I can definitely recommend is if you can find dry ice at wholesale it was a lifesaver I didn’t have to go buy ice every day like most of my camp mates my dry ice caps meal prep’s frozen even ice cream pops for an entire week. You need 2 coolers tho. 1 frozen food (dry ice) & 1 cold food (Ice) I hope to see you next year!

    Or...the luxury setup... get a honda 1k generator, bring 10 gallons of gas, and get a Whynter compact freezer. You can store vacuum sealed, frozen meals you have made before the event in it.
    This freezer only uses a couple hundred watts while in full compression. Also bring a compact fridge. You can run both, and charge your electronics as well as run some lights.
    This is also a killer tailgate setup, so it's not single use. 10 gallons of gas will last all week if you use eco mode and unplug the freezer at night, or get a cheap light sensor outlet at walmart for it.
    If you don't want to bring gasoline, there are clean burning propane generators of similar size.
    Also bring enough dry and canned foods for at least 4 days, but id just bring enough for a week. I always bring a case of Ramen, canned chili, soup and tinned meats.
    Oh...for bread, bring tortillas, naan or pita and keep it in Ziploc, in shade. If you brought the above setup, freeze the excess. Regular bread lasts until about Wednesday night, so don't bring a lot.
    All good tips from the OP. :-)

    great idea man thks, im also thinking of the mac&cheese maybe Ramen packs. if you need a spot to chill at look for ChillVille 5:45 & Esplande ask for Baby Panda. If not enjoy the burn.

    • @IamPowerSurgeOfficial
      @IamPowerSurgeOfficial  5 лет назад +1

      Hey man I really appreciate this! I will cruise by chillville ! The only thing about ramen packs like top ramen and cup of noodle is they Are terrible for your health they contain a ton of sodium and preservatives.
      A major food prep I messed up on this video Is that I forgot to mention premade and frozen soups especially lentil soup will last really well if you freeze soups you make it home from RUclips recipes

    You mentioned water for showering I thought that you're not allowed to bring showers because the gray water could hit the ground. I'm going for my first time this year trying to understand the rules

    • @IamPowerSurgeOfficial
      @IamPowerSurgeOfficial  Год назад +1

      Great question we lay a tarp out and you can shower on top of that in the water should dry or you need a way to catch the gray water.
      I paid a couple hundred dollars to be in a camp that has a shower system and gray water collects below. Then we store it in big jugs so you do have to be sparing with your water but you should get a couple showers out there.
      I bring a little pool to bath a dog and stand in that to shower if it’s just me and 1 other using it the water evaporates before the next shower

      no commerce only ice is sold ... for you i recommend going light with a mountain climbers/ back packers stove and dehydrated meals . Weeks worth of food and can fit into a pack pack and pack packers stoves are the he size of a 2L mug. if you must ...you can buy ice and drink the melted you do it sanitarily they used to come in 5lb a bag..thats not quite the gallon you need for the day.
