Only way I would agree with this is if it was not a regular elite event.
Maybe some sort of invitational tourney.
I agree bassmaster needs a Monday or Tuesday qualifier for every stop, a local tournament on a similar smaller local body of water and allow the top 1 to 3 finalists fish the elite event. Take the entry fee money from qualifying and drop it into elites prize pool

100% panger is right about this. All of his ideas that people keep shutting down are brilliant in my opinion. All I hear from anglers on every interview nowadays is “we need to grow the sport”. Outside the box thinking like Matt is doing in todays world is what will grow this sport. Bass needs a netflix special! Bass needs coverage on the pro am! Look let’s be honest most influencers aren’t gonna sniff winning an elite event. Period. BUT if they do, it would be epic to have that many more fans watching and supporting the sport just because of that one influencer. And bass would gain a substantial amount of fans each year because of these things. Professional tournament fishing is full of drama and rather than suppressing it like the organizations do, they need to use it to “grow the sport”. My grandad Pete Henson was one of the original bass anglers. He won a few of the early ray Scott hosted invitationals, and because of that I do consider myself somewhat of a purist. With that being said I think there is a huge market for the tournament fishing scene to people who currently have no idea what a bass tournament is. Keep up the good work boys.

Pangrac you opened the door and then slammed it shut. I would never qualify for the one up spot but I would love to see what a Gene Jensen, Chad Hoover or Matt or Tim from Tactical Bassin could do versus the Elite Pros. I love the idea as a fan of the sport.!
4-5 event tournament series, invite only for some of the biggest influencers. Maybe eventually giving a spot in the elite series or classic. Have some current big influencer elite series pros jump in a few of those events.
Cull! A special one off event would be cool but nothing to with Elite spot or Classic spot those are earned not handed out like a participation Ribbon!
So what. Leave it in golf. Golf has Saudi money in it. Leave Bass alone. You need to qualify.
I actually think something the other way around would be a better deal. Some sort of RUclips classic utilizing the fishing chaos app. Either you have to be a pro or you have to have more than set number of subs to enter. The top whatever or whoever completes “challenges” goes to unknown gigantor lake that does not get publicized lol and has a one day fishing extravaganza. Try to get sponsors and a winner takes all kind of thing. Obviously the event takes place at a time that works for everyone.

Cull, maybe do the tournament for a spot in the celebrity classic tournament. But not on the Elite.

Do a keep or cull on the guys that have a chance at a century belt get to fish on Sunday. Not to advance in position but to break 100 pounds. So on Sunday instead of ten going out we have 18 to 20 going out 11 to 20 just get to go out to break 100 pounds with no advancement in standings but just to get a century belt.
The Myrtle Beach PGA event is the inaugural event. It’s a means to draw viewers. It was not unlike the PGA letting Anika play at Congressional in the 2000’s.
Have the influencer tournament during the Classic on one of the off days. That paired with the Celebrity Team tournament would be a great draw building up to the Classic.
Keep it, I'd love to watch Panger, Mercer, Luke Dunkin, Randy Blaukat, Johny from fish the moment, and others face off against each other!
Its a great idea. They can qualify through the opens if they want full time status.Someone like Rob Terkla has one chance and this is it.

Bass needs to call Netflix and figure out how to get a BASS version of F1 filmed.
So it could be a really cool idea and potentially build up a lot of interest if you do it right. but the biggest difference here is that the PGATour has 36 total events, 5 of them being the Majors and Players and then another 10ish "Elevated" Events with 3x the payouts. That still leaves a lot of events for players to choose from (and just about all of the 200+ golfers only play between 18-24 weeks) and there are several of the smaller tournaments where the field might not have a single top 25 player in the field. So a newer event CAN come out and do something like this to try to build some additional interest for the event because lets be honest, it wasn't going to be a big draw. So if the Elite Series upped its schedule to have 20+ tourneys then you could actually have room for this.
or maybe you could do it but give them amateur status where they don't actually win any $$, but say if they finish say inside the top 3 they would qualify for the next tournament and be "prize eligible". Would be interesting to see which people would try to qualify

Considering social media, youtube and digital presence is much more intertwined with professional fishing than it is in other sports. If you want longevity, then sponsors on the Bass Pro Tour are a necessity. It seems almost pointless to have an influencer Qualifier spot as most pros are already influencers to some degree. Maybe have a single influencer tournament or a spot in the classic.

I think it would be kind of disrespectful to all the guys who traveled around the country spending loads of money and tons of time trying to qualify... if you want to setup some sort of charity tournament that would be pretty cool.

No way should an influencer be granted the ability to fish an Elite event. I think maybe a better idea would be at the end of the year or the beginning, have a separate event where an influencer is picked to fish with an Elite fisherman as a pair against other pairs.
I think it would definitely help to bring some eyes to the sport in a unique way but the biggest difference I see with golf vs fishing is the sheer number of events that take place on the PGA side plus the fact that a lot of the top guys don't even golf every event. The field size fluctuates more than an elite series event and it doesn't have the feeling that you are taking away from someone else as much when that happens. Would be different if it was like an AOY tournament or the old TTBC potentially but that still doesn't showcase the elites like it would for a typical event.
Side note, I would love to hear Mercer start ripping off stats about a RUclipsr like he does for an elite series pro .... Over 600k subscribers, and nearly 2000 career RUclips videos Matt "tactical bassin" Allen

Cull all day. As hard as those guys work to even GET to the elites series there's no way we could let some youtube guy who hasn't qualified fish against them and potentially take a paying finish from someone who grinded it out to get there. That's just my opinion. Cool thoughts, though.

back in the split they didn't do top 10 from opens they got in because they needed guys... so it would be cool to see

Keep the influencers in their lane. They're not pro's and don't need to act like it. Keep them in the Pro-Ams if you want to have them around.
Ben miliken was an influencer before he qualified for the elite series. I say give them a chance. Social media is the best way to grow the sport in this day and age
