If there was ever a rule that needed changing, it's this one. You should be rewarded for splitting a fairway, not punished because some goofball didn't take care of his gouge lol - I think if your "bad break" is the result of someone else's incompetence you should get relief
Using more of the toe to get the ball out of that grass that can stop your club head dead in its tracks makes a lot of sense. I'm gonna give it a wack!
I used to play golf over 10 years ago but stopped through college and my early work career. I picked it back up a month ago and have been watching so many of your videos ever since. You’ve really taught me a lot and have helped me get back into golf. A week ago i had my first ever “rare” shot. I shot it out of the sand trap and slam-dunked it into the hole. Was beautiful. I am usually double bogey golfer so I never thought I’d hit a shot like that. I dedicate it to you, Rick. Haha love the videos. *Side note* would you ever consider doing a VICE golf ball review? I haven't been out to the golf course in probably five or six years, this week I went out and hit some balls at the driving range using some of your tips and really enjoyed myself. This morning I went out and walk 9 holes and had one of the most enjoyable days of golf ever! I I tried to apply many of the tips I've been watching in your videos and while my score wasn't particularly great, I played one ball the whole way through, which I don't remember ever happening before. Hit in to a bunker a few weeks ago for the first time in 3 years. Never been good at getting out of them. Remembered your tip of hitting behind the ball and following through from a video I had seen and landed it on the green no problem. I now go to bunker shots with confidence. Thank Rick!!!

Situation #2 is HARDLY a horrible situation compared to the spots I end up in! LOL! I do have to tell you that after watching many of your numerous videos for tips etc, what I have learned the most from you and has become my best shots, is your technique to get out of high rough or dirt. I just wish I was that good on the fairway etc! LOL!
Going to need to practice some of that! Got out if a nasty old divot last night using the hit your irons better technique on you other video, feel like I'm able to hit them with more confidence now cheers Rick!
How Rick deals with his shot landing in a divot -> smart shot, well executed. How I deal with my shot landing in a divot -> Kick it 2 feet left in the fairway. Both work great!

And I don't mean none of this perfect rough you see so perfectly manicured at a private coarse but a thick, uneven rough. Specifically long irons are the most difficult for me. I have always been told to hit a plugged bunkershot with a square or a little bit closed club face : ) as you hit the sand with so much power and so much before the ball, the club face will automatically open up : )
Saw this video last week and oddly enough situation #1 happened to me during my Sunday round. Used the advice and hit it to the fringe 8 feet past the pin. One lucky downhill putt later and I birdied the hole, thanks Rick!
Your videos have really helped my game get a little more consistent! Today I landed on a tree root with my ball in a low spot of it. Sure coulda used your advice to get par but bogey did it ! Thank for all your videos!
