ahhh I unfortunately sold this synthesizer 2 years ago, and I hate myself for it. It was so much fun, and the unit offers incredible value for money. Coupled with some reverb or delay pedals, the possibilities are endless! I'll definitely be buying it again soon . Actually i made a track a few years ago and the Lead arp was created with this microfreak, the track is called "Rxt - femme fatale" Starting from minute 1:55, the melody slowly fades in. If you'd like to give it a listen.

3 time preset knob clicks and you got INIT preset, no need for scrolling;)

I have the MiniFreak and I have made some cool patches but it seems like I enjoy browsing presets and making changes to them because it can be kind of confusing to make good patches

I love mine but Arturia needs to make a V2: add effects, add sequencer LEDs, drop the keys on the micro and make the mini have better velocity sensitive, and either make the screen 4x bigger with touch or have more stamp-sized small OLED screens for the different functions

Tried it in person, felt and sounded like a cheap piece of crap.

The keys aren’t for everyone but you can easily control it with a standard keyboard. As for it sounding cheap…either something was broken or set wrong, because I have zero problem getting lush, deep sound from mine.

Sounds great but needs something else for effects like an nts-1

There are always compromises at this price level. There's a lot of versatility in the MicroFreak, but if you don't have the filter dialed in and don't have some external effects then it sounds very toy-like and harsh.
      Other options at the price range would be Roland JX-08 / SE-02 / SH-01A / Aira S-1, Elektron Model:Cycles, Behringer Pro-800 / MS-1 / Model D / 2600, Novation MiniNova / BassStation II / Circuit Tracks, Waldorf Streichfett, Korg MicroKorg / Monologue / Minilogue XD / MS-20 / Volca FM2, Arturia MiniBrute 2S / MiniFreak , etc.
Each of these has some compromise to make, often unacceptable compromises. But let's be real. People who are getting into other instruments, like guitar. Don't have to spend more than $500 to get started with a playable instrument. Like something that would be ready for band practice and maybe even gigging. And beginners can often get by with a lot less. A keyboard with a decent keybed and a polyphonic synth that sounds reasonably good it tough to find new at a similar price. It seems like synths are either too cheap with weird limitation making them kind of useless or are big stage-ready synths that are well over $3k.
