He was such an gentleman. I'm devastated that I never knew him in life. Yes, I was born in 1977, I'm 42 now. Paul was such a beautiful and truly gentle man.... ie, gentleman.
I believe the director of Firefly is a big Blakes 7 fan, so there's elements there of course. And there's always the classic line "I was aiming for his head."
Marvellous seeing this up on YT. I do have the whole thing on DVD and would advise anyone who likes this interview, and who missed out or wasnt born then, to invest... so much from that era seems cheesy and obvious and a bit overdone now, but Blakes 7 is outside the box and yes, Firefly is about as close as anyone has ever come to matching it. Loved it as a kid, and I still love it now... Excellent
FarScape too, reminds me of Blakes 7. I've always thought the FarScape writers Must have inspired by it... A bunch of escaped prisoners, throw together, fighting an evil empire, with a ship that "speaks" to them...
I could listen to Paul for hours on end,so sad he passed away.
He really made a great job with the Avon part.
I could not imagine Blake,s Seven without Avon Vila and their arch-enemy Servalan herself would have run for as long as it did
He is so sorely missed. What a character on and off screen.
i did grow up with this stuff. I LOVED Avon when i was 10 and it was on the BBC the first time round. Me and my Dad watching it. Fantastic....
The amazing interview continues...
Some people are just naturally fascinating, and Paul Darrow is one of them. I'd love to sit next to this guy at a dinner party. Great interview Paul.

What a nice bloke.
RIP Paul Darrow. May you fly with the angels x I loved your character of Avon as a child, you've always been my role model 💖🐾💖
A role model? Did you throw one of your friends out of an airlock too? 😊

Richard Burton, James Earl Jones and Paul Darrow. Perfect male voices
You should watch Dr Stangelove. Look at the man seated next to James Earl Jones...
Avon is the template for all my romantic fantasies.
I love the voice. Very Shakespearian
RIP Paul :(
He comes across very well

At 6:11 if that had been a hovercraft that would have been a scene from Serenity.lol I Just realized yesterday that Firefly was a lot like Blakes' 7

Good solid callous performance as soon totally ice kool
That power station looks like Steart beach. I went to a Psy Trance rave where they shot Blakes 7. Fukkin A
it seems that perhaps good parts are not written by writers but by good actors. Interesting how female fans always like avon the most hands down.
I reckon the name 'Blint' would make a good character name on Blakes 7.
Blint and the Usherettes

He smokes a lot.
