He's even mocked Murphy who got called by Chris Nolan for preparing as Oppenheimer 6 months before production on Vanity Fair Interview while he said he learnt to conduct for 7 years for Maestro. Sadly, what he did was for a desperation to win an Oscar not for a talent, hardwork or quality. His co-star, Carey Mulligan is the true star in Maestro not him.
Also, last year, there was Tar, another conductor movie starring Cate Blanchett. So, Maestro is like male version of Tar.

This movie's success at the academy awards is so poetic.
Cillian has always played smaller roles in Christopher Nolan movies and now that he plays the main character he's won an Oscar. Chris Nolan has deserved an Oscar for so long but wins his first one when he casts Cillian as the lead. Same story with RDJ.
He kept the speech short and sweet, and oh boy he did not expect the standing ovation :)
