Thanks Karen for another great video. Loewe puzzle marketing and publicity trick, creating scarcity will get people talking and that's free publicity and everyone will be watching to see what's next! If they get enough backlash they will bring it back with a new look and everyone will buy it! They know what they're doing.
I love how Karen’s aesthetic is so different from mine but she gives advice that you can easily apply to your own style
The Loewe Puzzle Bag is hand made using 75 pieces of leather and requires 9 hours with more than 500 separate actions, including precise cutting, hand sewing and painting of the dark coloured edges of the puzzle. According to articles I've read, the company has decided to discontinue the Puzzle bag in favour of the Edge bag because the newer Edge model is less labor intensive, less expensive, and less complicated to make requiring less craftsmanship. Where the original Puzzle Bag has the pieces of leather sewn onto a leather base, the newer Edge model has the leather folded and stitched together to imitate the puzzle design but without the separate puzzle pieces of leather. Interesting to note that on the Loewe website, the Edge model is now being labelled as the 'Puzzle Bag', so it looks like the phasing out of that original design has started. The original Puzzle Bags will be coveted I think, and I'm glad to have one of those originals in my handbag collection.
I’m willing to bet they’re going to “discontinue” it for a while to build up even more demand, bring back the original design, but try the Birkin strategy on the Puzzle Bag.
Just love denim for it’s versatility and especially the long midi skirts…just so comfortable and chic looking. Best to you Karen!

I found it to be a tricky as well. Found it looked best with a tank or cropped tank. Something skimpier on top. That long up and down denim look threw me off.

It is true that the color of your beloved puzzel bag goes with everything! It is very versatile! I like changing my bags out to play with what i wear, but my favorite is a similar bag with a croco texture leather that is about the same size!

This was good. A sort of pre-transitional wardrobe planning session. I love transitional dressing & then the deep dive into fall dressing. I’m so ready for fall. But I was definitely not ready for the news about the Loewe puzzle bag…I don’t get it either. This bag has been on my wish list forever so now I’ll have to move it up to a priority purchase which is a good thing but I just hope there are enough to meet the demands.
These are my favorite kind of Karen videos -- about descripitive categories of clothes and their style function rather than specific pieces. Also great to see which of the pieces we have seen you acquires over the year(s) that have really stuck with you.
And GUTTED to hear about the Puzzle. The only designer bag I am even remotely interested in :(

I have been eyeing the Loewe puzzle bag for at least 5 years. I just bought the last small, tan, puzzle bag from Holts ... came in today and i can't stop touching and looking at it!! It's DEVINE!!! (just wish it had feet!) ;). It truly does go with everything in my closet - should have ordered it years ago
I'm SO happy I picked up an OG tan puzzle when i was in NYC last year! Picked one up pre-loved as a birthday present to myself and couldn't be happier with it!
I think they are discontinuing this particular version for the (sadly) most common reasons:
1) to cut costs - the construction on the original is FAR more labor/material expensive versus the Edge
2) profit margin - the bag remains very popular, so the brand can continue to increase cost while lowering production costs
In the end, the consumer gets a design that is lower in complexity (and requires less overall leather and skill to produce), while still paying the premium for the original design :(
That makes a lot of sense! I would also add they might be interested in the resale value and exclusivity - the case of many luxury bags.
I wonder if Karen could do a summer to fall transition when there's not really a change in temperatures lol what about the places that stay hot? I know she's from an Island so I'm wondering if you're transitioning into fall the different pieces you can wear that won't make you pass out in the heat that is fall/winter in hotter climates? I would definitely like to see a video about that 😁

I can't wait to get back into denim maxi skirts. I wore them for months and then it got way too hot outside and I switched over to short denim and other skirts. I should be back into the maxi ones around mid-late October.
The denim maxi skirt that I have the most of is the Free People, Come As You Are, one which comes in 8 colors. I like that the original ones come with no front or back slits although around early summer they added one with a front slit. But, the other 7 are still the original, no-slit ones. The skirt runs long so I had to have them all shortened by two and a half to three inches and I'm 170 cm / a little over 5 feet 6 inches tall and have the skirts in a size 8.
As for loafers, I also can't wait to get back into loafers. Late last night, I was going through the first part of my closets and rotating clothing and footwear to get ready for fall. Today, I'll take a pile of clothes to the donation center as this is one of the annual months for me to clear out items that I haven't worn in a long time. I'll continue the big clean out/rotation today.
As for the (original) Loewe Puzzle, a lot of Puzzle lovers aren't going to be happy when it is discontinued. Why Loewe would mess up a really good thing, is ridiculous. And I've heard that the new ones won't have as many pieces to the Puzzle. I feel that it's all about cutting corners in production, but still raising prices. Remember, the same was done when the feet, "D" rings, and wide multi-functional straps were removed from the size small Puzzles, but prices continued to skyrocket.
It was due to you showing your blue-gray Puzzle way back in the years, that I decided to stop stalling and buy my first Puzzle. I went for one on the resale market as I wanted the feet, a "D" ring, and the wide strap. I first bought a sky blue-gray one like yours, but returned it as it seemed more gray than sky blue. I then went for a fuchsia one in small and about a year later a true orange one in medium. Both of my first two (resale-bought) were in mint condition. Love them. Later, I bought a new one in black in a size large, but it was way too bulky and heavy so I sold it last year and decided on a new black one in medium.
I'm glad that you mentioned blazers as I need to get out my 90s-bought asymmetrical-cut blazer by one of the Dirks of the Antwerp 6. I haven't worn it in over a decade. It's gray, wool, and with padded shoulders. Gorgeous. This fall/winter I'm going to bring out some of the old school evergreen blazers and restyle them. I have some blazers from the Antwerp 6, Issey Miyake, Missoni, Chanel, and a few other design houses. All were bought new, but on special sales back in the day. And one of the Chanel, wool boucle jackets was bought red-tagged at Nordstrom Rack around 14 years ago as one of the Nordstrom Racks here had a whole separate section in the store that only carried high-end designers.

I've read that the original puzzle takes very long to put together while the edge version is faster and easier. So as it often the case, corners are being cut to reduce production costs but the price for the consumer continues to rise... 😔 Your reviews inspired me to look into the old version puzzle bag second hand (thick strap, with feet). I found more than one (!) and couldn't be happier. The small size is the perfect bag for me..

Don't forget us people in Florida where we hardly ever get to wear fall or winter clothes and shoes. There are many years where it is only cold a handful of days and most days it's in the 80's and above throughout the year. I do wear my white linen pants inside where it's always pretty cold. I am on the hunt though for a new/pre-loved winter jacket for my trip up north for Christmas.

It spoils it or rather cheapens it! I lose interest. I avoid loud branding on a item its needs to be hidden for me otherwise its tacky to me!

I also own 2 Puzzle bags, and a 3rd was on my list this year. I prefer handheld bags, but love the versatility of the long strap. Can't decide if I want a mini or another small. It almost your most favorite time of the year (sigh!)...... you seem to really hit the Fall looks running because you love layering. The Lowe brand is probably lowering the cost of manufacturing to get more profit from the sale of their products. I really love statement pieces and that usually why I love thrifting because to hunt down such great finds at below clearance retail prices. I look forward to seeing you sport the camel fringe leather wrap skirt you bought off season secondhand, that might be a great piece to layer over other garments. One thing I don't agree on that if a person been wanting a summer item (white linen trouser for example) and it was not in their budget this is the perfect time to snag it for next year and to wear as a layering piece before leaves start to change colors. I have a few denim skirts that I thought I would wear during the summer but they are a tripping hazard for me because I am moving around too fast running errands or doing chores at the moment. I have some boyfriend 's denim jeans he was trying to discard (yes I dig it out of his garbage) that have been set aside for dream maybe one day project for the ultimate denim maxi skirt.
