Best Canadian club band of the 90s. Blew you the eff away in small, lovely little venues.

THIS is the big sugar that I remember from back in the day. Hard pressed to find a better show when these guys rolled into town.

Sadly I live in Texas and I don't recall them ever coming down this far.
I did once see this superbly heavy "stoner" blues band from Toronto called Sons of Otis that played in Dallas a few years ago. Check out Sons of Otis here on youtube. WAY HEAVY BLUES.

ThePoacher was refering to the fact that Big Sugar played their last show in Edmonton on New Year's Eve a few years back, and that The Trews were the openers.
But to answer your question, technically yes, The Trews very well might have been formed back in '96 under the name Trouser, to which I was introduced to them as.

Actually Gordie Johnson moved to Texas and got together with Stevie Ray Vaughns old band double trouble). They were called Grady.

@corduroy41 I know this comment was from a while ago, but yea I believe The Trews were in fact formed somewhere around '96-'98. Originally they were One I'd Trouser, before becoming just Trouser and then The Trews. The obviously didn't gain a lot of attention until around 2003 when Not Ready to Go came out.
Big Sugar and The Trews are playing a show together at Harvest Jazz & Blues in Fredericton this September, so excited for it.

saw them when they were kids playing the gazeebo in Antigonish! Yes, One I'd Trouser was what they went by.
