- This is not raw, but a single-ply competition. Konovalov wins the SHW class at IPF Worlds 2013 and sets a world record in the total.
Squat - 1,030.5 lbs / 467.5 kgs
Bench - 782.5 lbs / 355 kgs
Deadlift - 804 lbs / 365 kgs
amazing job by the spotters on the squat.
Lmao. Fucking idiot. Side spotters didn't do shit. IPFs spotters are a joke nowdays. Looks like back then they didn't do shit either.
I watched the live stream of this and the commentators were hilarious. Proper fans - really enthusiastic and made it an awesome event :-)
There are not "plenty of people" who can pull 900. There are only a handful. Only one person has pulled 900 in the past year: Andy Bolton. Benedikt failed with 915 or so at the CAPO meet. Malanichev has pulled 892, and I think Vince Urbank has pulled close to 900 this year and failed with 9+. Brian Shaw and a few other strongman competitors could probably pull 900 raw under powerlifting standards. So, a 900 raw pull is still VERY rare.
About the deadlift:
1) DL is the lift where gear gives the less support. Squat greatly benefits from suits and knee wraps, bench shirt can add a lot of kg to your max (if properly used), while deadlift suits help much less.
2) In IPF only Eleiko barbells are allowed; those barbells are much stiffer than those used in other federations (you can see them not bending very much). Barbell stiffness makes deadlifts in IPF feel much heavier, that's why world record are lower than in other feds,
131T3M3 Because wearing lifting gear does very little to improve one's deadlift numbers. Squat suits, and bench shirts can sometimes add 200+ pounds to a person's max.
because these guys have their knees wrapped so tight they can barely walk. Not really anything that can assist that much for a deadlift
Ed Coan 901@220
SmexyPC
True, but he can't pull that at this moment. The number of people in the world who can pull 900 right now is probably ~10.
The commentary for the stream was brilliant the whole time!!! This guy is a freak of nature!
1000+ lbs squat without a monolift = insane!
Pleasure to see this giant doing so beautiful lifts🤒🏆This is strenght beyond strenght!!! Greetings from Finland 🇫🇮
10:48 Dave Hoff, this is how real powerlifters celebrate, instead of throwing spotters around
Красавец Андрей! Молоток!
I am new to this sport and this stuff just blows me away! How is this even possible. Wow!
I thought he was going to squat 1187.5kg.
Love the way he walks.
Great video, amusing commentary.
He benched as much as his dead lift. 2 things: 1- The world's strongest men could not bench anywhere near that, although he does wear a super suit, which is permitted in powerlifting. 2- The dead lift WR is 1102, far above the 800 he struggled with. Still enough to beat his own WR total. Yes, there are at least 5-10 people (MEN) who can deadlift over 900. Brian Shaw being one. Check RUclips for names.
This mans total in Kgs is the same as mine in LBS for these reasons I'm out and feeling small.
this guy is an absolute unit!
great spotters man, whew!
I knew a guy named David (didn't get his last name) in northern Florida, outside Jacksonville, west of the St. Johns River, who could bench 950 lbs for 10 sets of 10 reps, in less than a half hour.
The solid concrete floor literally shook each time he lifted the bar, and he actually was jerking it up a little bit. The bar would bend each time he jerked it upwards.
He also had 6 spotters (he didn't like to bench for some reason).
2:00 missed lift because the right foot was more flared than the other foot causing loss in balance
Good spot there dude
They are so equipped they can't even walk properly. Impressive never the less
the guy that finished 2nd from norway was more impressive his squat and deadlift was class
"Давай Андрей, давай )))"
very well co ordinated spotters
My heart jumped out of my chest @ 2:09
deadlift . well pull my friend.
it has got to feel pretty rough to have that much weight on your back, no matter how strong/big you are.... geez :)
Impressive.
Давай, Андрей, давай
they keep saying 405kilos so I don't get why the name of the video is stating 1187.5 kilos.
***** Wah. What a low-life you can be. Well then, goodluck with your sadlife, since I see no other reason for you to be so affected.
***** Write to me when you actually have something intelligent and decent to say o_o Those go hand-in-hand tho.
Very Powermonster!!!
That walk...omf..
What are the raw record numbers right now? I don't understand why these lifters at the IPH only deadlift roughly 700 ~ 800 or so, when there seem to be plenty of people who can deadlift well into the 900 or 1000, like magnusson. Is there an explanation for why these combined lifters have a heavier squat than their deadlifts (which I feel is the case even if raw)?
Most powerlifters get very little out of a deadlift suit. I believe you get more out of a squat/bench suit because there is an eccentric portion to the lift and the suit stretches much more creating more rebound out of the bottom of a squat or benchpress
There's that too, but I'm talking about raw numbers as well. For most people who deadlift/squat in the 300~400lb ranges, you'll notice that theres roughly a 4:5 ratio of squat to deadlift, but with competitive powerlifters' raw numbers, you'll see a 1:1, if not even higher ratio of squat:deadlift (without gear).
knee wraps
definitely the wraps, and you really cant count the lifters that are using the monolift because that is more of a reverse leg press than it is a squat.
131T3M3 well, first, the squat is first, and the deadlift is the last, so a lot of powerlifters put a lot of training into the squat because is when you are at your full potential and not exhausted in a competition, which isn' the case of the deadlift, and second, the use knee wraps, adding some pounds over.
Just watching this is giving me cardiac arrest.
love the commentators
eddie hall---hello
If his deadlift was upto par with his otherwise he would be even more beastly
Can someone explain to me why they deadlift "so less".
Some strongman can lift over 400kg, is it cause they have not so many rules or so?
They use a single deploy for squat, deadlift and bench. A deploy is a suit that helps you with your lift. It helps you a lot with squat and bench, but little with deadlift. That is why their deadlift is 'low' compared to their other lifts.
Ah okay, thank you :)
ZethUDSRakaSDAL theres no rebound or stretch for the deadlift like for the squat and bench where you start from the top
What is a 'single-ply' competition?
He walks like a giant baby
Strong
Man he makes the bar look like a toy.
great fight with gravity !!!
This is single-ply, right?
Correct.
This commentators are legit guys it’s was entertaining it was a show not nowadays ipf bullshit with sleepy voices
''давай, Андрей, давай!!!'' :D
Zadrunas Saviskis Deadlifts well (over) 1,100 lbs :)
Your comparing stiff bar deads to a tire-block deadlift with wrist wraps.... Hmmm are you missing something?
Right guys I not understand one thing can anybody answer in it, example why people squat more that death lift I can squat 140kg but my death lift are 220kg coz death lift are more easy that squats in my oppinion?????
It has to do with leverages
+onegmsgmailcom gaining weight helps squat more than deadlift. That is why almost all of the lighter lifters under 200lbs deadlift more than they squat and as they become heavier the difference of weight between both tend to come closer :)
Why can he squat a shit ton more than he deadlifts? His bench is practically the same as his deads. Whats up with that
Human anatomy my friend. Some have strong legs, some have strong back, some are average strong (I mean proportionally). My gym buddy for instance has strong legs, a bit weaker back and average chest. Other is good at all lifting exercises, yet machine exercises work bad for him, even dumbbell flies are closer to average gym rat weight, yet he benches over 200 kilos...
squat = squat suit
bench = bench shirt
deadlift = pretty much raw
Does anyone have any tips with squatting weight?
Any time I get above 300lbs (around 135kg - 140kg), the bar causes uncomfortable pain in my upper back, pressing on the bones and muscles
I see this and it blows my mind how they can handle that
low bar squat
squat low bar
dat dere walk tho
I think he ship himself after each one
why did the second bench lift not count?
i couldnt make out what the announcers were saying
+Biggus Dickus OIC
he didn't wait for the judge to yell 'PRESS!' glad he got it in the end.
BuyLow SellHigh
Thought they said too much body movement
I thought the most elite powerlifters were deadlifting in the 1000 lb+ region? How come he can only deadlift about 20 lbs more than he can bench? He's incredibly strong i don't take anything away from him, but that seems odd to me.
Only two powerlifters have ever deadlifted 1,000 lbs in all of history. At the moment, no one can pull 1,000. Everyone has the lift they are best at. This guy is a really good squatter. Others are really good deadlifters. It just depends on the lifter. Konstantinovs can pulled in the mid 900s, but he's never even squatted 800.
I think its also because hes using a bench shirt that it helps him pull that much weight; also with the squat and the suit. For deadlift, its essentially raw.
The bench shirt probably adds 75-125 lbs, ive used a cheap slingshot and added 50 to my max. Still incredible though.
+THExJMC Those who are very good at the squat and bench are usually not built to deadlift. Long torso + short arms and legs. He also needs to be quite low at the start of the sumo, long distance to pull. Strong as fuck though.
+Andrew Jatib if properly used a bench shirt can add up to 300lbs on the bench. a slingshot is not the same as a bench shirt.
Its funny how little the deadlift compared to raw lifters
198 raw lifters does 800 and this is shw gerd
Fire the damn DJ..
Does the commentator know what Domoi means? i dont think he does...Domoi roughly translated means "Go home"
"davai" translates to Let's go too
Nick Hafner it also means c'mon
lol @ not being able to hit depth in gear.
true strength is severely skewed when they wear squat suits and bench shirts, its popular around the international community but there is no vagueness or question of strength if you could do it raw.
and I also hate the music at this meet, its terrible....
This dudes chest could land an airplane on it by gawd *Jim Ross voice*
I was going to say...beat spoto bench press? Hell no, he as a bench shirt haha
Put closed caption on and start the vid at 11:08. 😆
1:53 the face LOOOL
I don't understand the point of bench shirts
Bench shirts are made of elastic fabric which pull your arms together. Essentially, it gives assistance on the bottom portion of the least, which is otherwise a weak point for raw lifters.
Now if your comment is why isn't all powerlifting raw and all squats ATG, I couldn't agree more. At the pace where things are going, people will be doing rack pulls instead of deadlifts and unracking a bar instead of squatting it.
+Thomas Sabatier ya I was saying that they are pointless. you can use a slingshot during training to get assistance work.
This dudes walking weird cuz his god damn legs are the size of a torso
random but anyone know the song around 9:05?
yes he could have pulled more . he squats wide . those who have pulled 1000 . have done it on a buddy capps bar . not allowedin the i p f
was that single ply?
Yes, IPF is single ply only (or raw as in the classic world cup, but this is geared, so single ply).
Класс!!!
so how many cows does this dude eat a day haha
Deadlifts 804 ???? while benches 782.5 and squats well over 1k. Wtf.
It's called single ply lifting....
Fragyn BFH Dude, stop commenting on stuff you clearly don't know anything. You don't even know the difference between a tire-block deadlift and a actual deadlift.
Alex Gen hes got a point dipshit.. The guy benched 22 pounds less than he could dead lift.
jehkjshrfk Point being? You clearly don't know the limitations of ply lifting.
6:18 what happened there? why wasn't it valid?
He didn't wait to "press" command.
It's crazy how the bar can bend like that and not just snap, I thought those things were pretty rigid.
lol look at the way this dude walks..
so if this is IPF I suppose he's not on steroids?
lol
ha ha ha ha!!!
Glad to see that drug testing is working in the IPF.
also, at 7:16 it looks like his head is poking out of a giant ass.
Bullshitt, not WR. Norway is master with king Carl*s 1200kg total. And 485kg in squat
yes it was a WR, this was a year before smartass
What the fuck? How come everybody is so strong at squat and they are so "weak" on DL's? Somebody pls explain that to me!
Could be the mechanical disadvantage of being a tall ass dude
or they could be too beat up from squat and bench..
***** They are usually pull more than they squat. Except here. I'd like to know a decent answer to that.
Baldó Buczi
mm yeah im no expert .. but im just going from personal experience .. when i do my comps .. i once took pre workout too early and it fucked up my attempts for deadlifts .. my back and glutes were cramp up from bench it also effected my deadlifts haha
only logical thing I can possibly think of is poor range of motion. Considering these dudes are big all the way around I can't imagine them being very flexible. So maybe they are just not able to drive off the ground with this size limitation
Is this comp in the video drug tested?
Obviously not :')
has he shit himself at 1.06
Haha these guys benching I I can't get over the way they walk around permalink flex y'all haha
Great video ... terrible sportscasters 😂
The strong kind of fat
SpookeyClown as opposed to the weak kind like you
Steve McQueen ouch
iron benders
He is so small wtf
Por qué camina así XD
Wraps
he walks like a baby
cause he's wearing wraps
Man he has small feet
Is that the pillsbury dough boy?
+collin gover No but you're the internet tough guy idiot.
фамилия говорящая)
deadlift not that amazing
Gilbert Michaud lol since when is 804 not amazing? especially after squatting over 1000 and benching almost 800?
Thumbs down
Single Ply?
