The desire of a son to make his dad proud is a powerful and beautiful thing.
Well, I want to appreciate the UFC for not forgetting their past champion. Even though he may not be in the spotlight currently, yet they are using his story to inspire others. I have been separated from my son, not of my own will, for several months now, I miss him terribly, sometimes my heart is sore missing him. But I just emailed this documentary to him so that he watches it. Kamaru Usman, what a son! What a champion! Even though his father was locked up for years, he never disregarded him in his decision making. Kamaru's mother, what a wife! Even though her husband was locked up for years, she never disregarded him or usurp his place as the head of their home. This family is a model family, their rooting in the African culture, good raising and upbringing, the discipline in the Nigerian family, all these things came through for them. I celebrate the Usmans abeg.
Not taking anything away from us man but a video like this about Demetrius Johnson would have been wonderful. The guy is a true warrior and been working hard in his early career to even be able to compete. But Dana is a petty man.
This documentary was done in 2021
You don't need to be a winner to be a winner sir there is always be a winner inside of you
@@LuckytochiOsuji😊
I’ve always been a fan of Kamaru but this makes me like him even more. Well done
This was a touching story, no child deserves to grow up without a father, no matter what your father might have done.
almost made me cry...
Especially an innocent father.
If what he's done is wrong, than he deserves to face justice for it. Don't do thing that'll get you sent to prison. Not every father deserves to parent a child
This was beautiful. You got to appreciate Kamaru even more for the struggles he went through as a young man. He really is one of the greatest welterweights of all time.
Man this really hit home, my dad was away for 6-7 years too. This was a beautiful story
I'm no professional athlete, but I know that JOY he is speaking of! My father was there and filled with joy when I turned my life around, joined the US Army and rose through the ranks. He was also an Army veteran, a stoic man, but seeing me accomplish what I set out to do brought him joy! Travel well pop!
The Welterweight GOAT…
100%
The competition he beat is much superior than GSP’s and he was very active and all his title fights were entertaining except Masvidal 1.
@@ripevanwinkle494 You're entitled to your opinion. Since that's what these GOAT debates ultimately boil down to. I love Usman. He's a legend in my mind and he always will be. He has one of the most beautiful and awe inspiring life stories. But, his case for welterweight GOAT is not all that convincing. 9 title fights, won 6, 5 consecutive title defenses. Two were against Jorge Masvidal, who was never a championship caliber fighter. His two against Covington (who also crushed Masvidal) for sure his most impressive defenses. Also one defense against Gilbert Burns ( who also smashed masvidal). Then back to back losses against Leon.
GSP 14 title fights, 13 Title fights victories, 9 consecutive defenses, ended his career on a 13 fight win streak spanning 2007-2017 (despite going up and beating Bisping). He still holds many records in the welterweight division today, despite not fighting for the last 7 years.
The entire premise behind "The competition is superior" holds no weight. You fight the competition you are presented with. New fighters benefit from their predecessors.
Remember this In the years to come people will be saying the same thing, in and attempt to discredit Usmans career/all time status. I've seen it since the days Gracie/Shamrock, followed by Hughes and Penn, etc..
I'll be defending him then, as I defend GSP now. You rank based upon accomplishments and merits, not the time period in which they competed. Otherwise we might as well say Anderson Silva is a Bum, Liddell and Couture pure garbage, etc..
The world will shed a tear seeing a mother's love, but never appreciates a father's sacrifice.
When your Hero gets snatched from you, it's difficult.
Wow, what an amazing edit from the UFC. I love this content. This is now my second video from the UFC Chronicles. This video made me emotional watching Usman and his beautiful family go through the things they went through. It was super emotional for me. I didn't cry, but I damn near wanted to, like Kamaru said, haha. Blessings!
Not alone. Wooph
Not sure if everyone else is like me but I’ve been on a serious binge since this upload/reupload streak started like the last couple days
what an absolute mensch kamaru is, much love from finland.
Please help to come to Finland, I want to help my family from suffering
Such an emotional documentary, i literally cried, we all gotta pay Usman his respect, and I remember how a fighter made fun of his dad being in jail not minding the pains the whole family was going through….
UFC giving Usman his flowers 💐 means a lot 🥹
I 'm not sure but that probably was Colby?
I almost cried! when your African its just an extra motivation man.🇩🇯❤can't wait to show mama a different life one day. lets go Kamaru
legend in life and in the sport
This was the best Documentary, I've ever seen in my life, We love you usman, you are a warrior
Dana finally did something cool for the fighters! That being said, family is key. A good family is the key!
But the fruit of the spirit is love peace joy kindness faith humbleness patience self control
You made me emotional us boys want to make our father's proud.i lost my father 20years ago man its tough.
Dricus must watch this to understand why most Africans (especially those who did not benefit from the Apartheid system) can't fight and train out of Africa when competing at the highest level. Usman is African like it or not Dricus...whether or not Dricus becomes champion he will never be the FIRST African champion, that road has already been paved by the 3 African kings.
@@davidzshit Whatever makes you feel happy sir or madam
Ofc he’s just trying to rub salt in the wound and act superior. That’s why Izzy was so upset
Exactly
Beautiful story. Kamaru is a DAWG for becoming the champion and a REAL champion.
I cried watching this 😢USMAN ❤Your story is beyond inspiring
Beautiful, my respect for Kamaru is now doubled after seeing this.
Man, that's a strong man. I almost lost my mind with 3 days in jail I can't imagine 11yrs in prison. That's a strong family.
Man Kamaru is a good man.
Such a amazing story never like usman but after hearing his story I really love how he and his father became❤
Blessed to still have both parents at his age
This reminded me of my dad , i miss you Dad , Rest in Heaven 🙏
Brilliant! Thank you Usman family and thank you UFC for sharing this.
Was a touching tribute really liked it some people lose parents in otherways this was his inspiration
Usman was a good champion and is a good guy, I hope we continue to see him around the UFC
cheated all the time, pretty much his whole career. there is a special place in hell for those who use steroids in combat sports. dont believe me there is an hour and half video that MPMD did that pretty much verifies marty from Nebraska's ridiculous steroid fallacy.
Kamaru. Is such. An incredible. Man. His family? Are such. An extraordinary group of people.
Every one of these chronicles is pure gold.
damn that was inspirational , it got a few tears out of me !
WOW what a story.... can't lie was moved to tears!!!
Shit I never thought I'll cry with Usman but it did happen eventually...
Blackzillians vs att was one of the best seasons and gym rivalries of all time. Hopefully fans that are new to the sport can go back and witness the growth of ufc and its fighters through those 2 gyms
Absolutely Beautiful Documentary. Respect to Usman and his family.
EVEN mma fighters cry😢. I love kamaru , nice fighter.
My brother is in jail and I 😭💔

I still remember you in the TUF house. I am happy for your success. Beautiful story.
inspirational stuff, its a shame his father went down like that but in a screwed up way it was more drive for usman
Great story man
very heart touching
African strength is fucking incredible. Don't even get me started on Ngannou's journey!
hard life
15years for what?! WTF!
DOJ website: “government presented further evidence that Usman, Outen and McNac were responsible for submitting more than $3.5 million in fraudulent claims to Medicare and Medicaid through Royal Ambulance and First Choice EMS, resulting in payments of more than $1.3 million.”
This made cry
Good to talk about father's impact . Nowadays people seems to ignorant father's role in the family. Fathers sacrifice everything for their families but they don't get to recognition. Probs to kamaru Usman to pay a tribute for his dad .
Beautiful
❤❤❤ Legend Kamaru
4:52 hegained like 40 lbs of muscle senior year holy shit hahahah
growth spurt, or finally hit puberty lol
Omo I was crying at work that thing touch me deep
Well done Sir.
I used to be an Usman hater but after he took that chamiya fight. I regret hating on such an amazing fighter
I hope Kamaru joins The PFL and becomes champ again. His rematch with Leon...who I also really like...was so close IMHO. If that match were in Vegas? Maybe the nod goes to Kamaru.
Omo I can’t stop crying 🥹
God bless you 🙏
Respect
Respect❤
CHAMP 🏆 !!!
great story --
legend !
Colby made fun of Usmans dad leading up to their 2nd fight, called him a jailbird & whatnot. I dont blame Masvidal for beating the brakes off him after he talked about his family
Man this got me. God is amazing!
I had dust in my eyes this whole video
Crazyyy!!
Great job guys! The storytelling is amazing here, love the piece!
Inspiration
God Bless
dam what a beautiful story. from one african to another, im glad people specially in america will see something like this. because the father figure in america has been turned into a joke. we will never be able to repay our parents in this life, specially our mothers, but im glad the father figures position is brought into light in this. thank you.
