I like how the Sundown guy is rocking OG KICKER. Kicker is why I got into car audio way back in the 90s.... those days we ran either punch XLC, KICKER SOLO BARIC or pioneer impp
The 90's were the heyday of car stereo. Around here (NC/SC) everybody had either JL, Orion, Kicker, or Lanzar.
If SQ is more your thing, the kicker Q classes will make you happy so does the Sundown U series. A U series still hits pretty hard in a sealed box but you will get a more musical sounding bass than ported or bandpass.
JL for me! Had 3 12w6V1 on Phoenix gold M100 and M50 on MB quart the old green cone ones highs and mids! Sounded phenomenal!

Yeah alot of Sundown Subs make that steam engine chuf lol. Even the 8"s do it the SAv3 8"s do it the Xv3 8"s do it ect. And when they get in a box it's absolutely amazing. 150+ DB from a single 8" is absolutely insane lol it's why I love all my Sundown Sav3 8"s and Xv3 8"s

I can't believe the high demand for these subs. I'm deep into car audio and have never seen anyone with the zv5. I may have seen 2 people with them at a car meet, but there were over 200 cars. I could build custom boxes for these and I guarantee they would move real slow.

Not everyone is as mechanically inclined as others. It's a cool idea. I'd say check out lords of bass. They'll sell you all the parts.

My older brother used to have a 2006 Altima with 2 kenwood 10 inch subs in a sealed box, not the loudest but it still bumps. I remembered that he blew them by turning the gains to clipping and then he replaced them with mismatched subs. The inspiration from older brother, PSSounds, Fivestar car audio, SMD, and Lifeofprice got me into car audio. I inherited the old subs from my brother and bought an old 500w Jensen amp from a pawn shop because my dad threw out that nice kenwood amp which was very affordable for the output and sound quality you get. Those mismatched budget tens do not sound right and I’m thinking about going with a single twelve, and stay with a sealed and not go ported or BP because I much prefer a musical bass over boomy bass.
Once you hear yourself a solid ported box, you'll never ho back to sealed...

Hey jp, how much of a difference would I notice going from a single x15 v.3 wired at 1om in a 4th order to a single zv6 15 wired at half om. 370 alt,dual runs 1/0, 3- xs power batteries, and a crescendo 4k. Thanks for your time

Dude I ran 2 - 15"M&M Godfathers with 4 - 8" Godfathers with Concord and Orion amps I was the first in middle Tennessee with bass in 89...

@@beefysghost867 Like I said American Bass isn't junk and isn't going anywhere. I have 4 of their 8s with the blue basket on a sfb5000. You just got a bad batch. Sundown isn't perfect. I have 4 of their Sa15s, but 2 of them are mismatch and look weak and cheap af. An American Bass xfl would run circles around the sa I have. I have Sundowns just sitting nib box collecting dust. I contacted Sundown and they just gave me the runaround and excuses. Also the Sa15s I have don't hit lows worth a damn.
What about getting down with Savard distribution? Would you consider that? Or is there too much competition between the two that chokes down the profit points?

Are these designed for ported or sealed enclosures, and what aythe recommend airspace for each?
The U series is Sundown’s loudest and most musical subwoofer that will work a sealed box. A single U12 in a sealed box is about 130 decibels. Check the sundown website for more info. The X, ZV’s, and nightshades won’t work in a sealed box because the QTS is less than 0.4.

what i dont get is how that tiny wire that attaches to the coil doesnt burn up on high power its not very thick but then you have the tinsel leads double triple and quad which is altogether thicker than that tiny lead then the wire we put to the push terminal is thicker than that i dont get it

I would love to have a super low Fs of under 25 hz in a ZV6 18 to use in a home theater setup. 4 of those running off a Crown XLS 2502 each in 10 cu ft tuned to 16 hz in my 300 square foot HT room would be very nice. Hell I'd take one for my truck with normal Fs in place of my current Dayton Kraken 21" if I had a 300 amp alternator.
I've always wanted big ass subs in my house. I have a crown 2502 on my towers and a 3500 for my subs (in my car now) but the problem is the breaker always pops when I turn it up really loud. How do I fox this lol? I can't just put a bigger breaker in the fuse box
@@Pittsburgh-412 Do you have it bridged at 4 ohms or at 2 ohms? It is stable into a 4 ohm bridged load which is in actuality a 2 ohm load on the amp. What size wire is going to your home circuit and what size brealker is in there. 12 gauge you should have 20 amp fuse at 110 volts. 10 gauge should have a 30 amp fuse. I just hope you don't have 14 gauge, which only allows for a 15 amp max breaker. I have a Crown 1502 running a single Dayton Ultimax 18 in my house and a 500 watt BASH amp running a 15 inch Ultimax off the same circuit with 20 amp breaker. So roughly 2000 watts total, not far off from the 2500 watts you need. Over time breakers can get weak and trip at lower power levels. A new 20 amp or try a 30 might work.
Look at stereointegrity.com, Nick Lemons sources from sundown to build low fs subs. The hst18 has an fs of 21hrtz and the hst15 is 23hrtz. I have used the 18 and the twelve inch versions, low end monsters.

@@PURESOUND4 It is wonderful. I have it in 7 cu ft tuned to 29, and not only does it go very low, the impact for rock is amazing. I have it running off a Taramps Smart 3K at 4 ohms and it feels like it could take much more. For DJ use, I would aim for 32-35 tuning in 6 cu ft and use light plywood, because the sub is already very heavy.

If the bigger magnet doesn't mean more power, then what is it that determines how much power a subwoofer can handle? I would definitely think that a bigger and stronger magnet mean a more powerful motor and power handling

I guess people didn’t want to answer that question Last year, but I will be honest, soundstream would be compared to like Boss or Jensen. No where close to Sundown.
What amp fits the zv6 15 best for a daily build
for a single one I would use a sundown salt 4 on it
A large you can run a X large but it may fit a little loose.

Seriously though John Price i can not get good technical or system design information from your staff who answers phone. They say I don't know, And they're not techs... I want to know what sundown sub [ dual 2ohm] pairs well with the d4s jp23 ...
And then will this perform on factory electrical of not what's the first electrical upgrade i should make...
Get a new zv6 12 they will handle the power of the jp23 and i recommend a optima yellow top maybe two and that's all for the electrical besides just one run of ofc 0gauge.

I would highly suggest the big 3 upgrade regardless of whether you upgrade your alt or not. A second battery is also suggested.
sundown U series. Put a d4s lto 6.0 in the back for supplemental battery power and do a big 3 upgrade and youll be good

@@mobeious my assumption here (and d4s please confirm) sundown is still making the subs the guy is sundown contracted and likely trained in a warehouse near d4s for the sole productiog of subs to fulfill d4s needs.
D4s simply takes delivery of said subs ... I'm positive all warranties apply

@@billl2383 solid, would not be a coil. It needs to be a coil. The wire is laminated and carries current around in a circle multiple times creating an electromagnet, that repels the opposing magnet motor. That's how it moves. It has to be a coil to do this trick. Imagine coiling wire around a nail, and Appling 9v battery to the coil ends. You've made a magnet. Now move that towards another magnet and it will push or pull said magnet based on voltage polarity.
