When you involved Dirk in that Pick‘n Pop at the top of the key, everything just opened up. The gravity of dirk + the incredible, modern shooting + adding Tyson made that 11‘ team special.
That was the most offensively flowing team since the early Nash Finley Nowitzki era thanks to Kidd of course and Carlisle for letting them do their thing it also had to do with a lot of the vets playing smart and having high IQ. They were really fun fun team to watch and getting championship was the huge icing on the cake.
Yep totally agree with you. Most of the players on that team were past their primes and none of them were particularly fast except Barea. But like you said they were all very experienced and all had high basketball IQ.
The ball movement and teamwork really made this team special. Looking back after all these years, I can certainly say that I didn't understand just how unique this team was at the time, or how unique they would be as time passed. I remember the mantra for the season being "The Time Is Now". I can't remember if it was a team thing, media hype, or just something I saw online, but I held to that throught the playoffs. I'm ashamed to say that turned off the Finals Game 2 early, but the next day I vowed to never stop watching my team play until the clock hit zero, no matter the sport. That led to me watching some amazing games in the future, that's for sure! It was a nice lesson in humility and loyalty. After Game 3, I knew we could bounce back, and we ended up winning every game after that. I've just been feeling so nostalgic for this season after Dirk has had his jersey number retired. Jason Kidd is now Coach Kidd and Dirk is forever honored. Time really flies, but it's great to know that the champions have placed their roots on this franchise forever.
To all those kids who are fan of Luka, pls watch this first. this is the real Dallas Mavericks! this is the best roster in NBA history! I really miss that year. I'm in tears watching this video. Brings back a lot of good memories
the 11 and 12 thunder as well as the 03 06 and 11 mavs along with the 99 and 00 blazers didn't equal the 88 mavs along with the 78 79 80 87 93 and 96 sonics and the 77 90 91 and 92 blazers
You just proved you never watched Luka play. He has averaged over 8 assists per game for 4 years, more than Steph and top 10 for all guards. If his teammates shot greater than 30%, it would be a lot higher than that.
I remember a post-game interview of Kobe saying this Mavs team's ball movement was one of the best in the league. Pretty much why they won that year

Well said man!

That ball movement was amazing.

This Dallas rooster is definitely the best.
The mavs played beautiful basketball in that season..
My Team. My only team. I miss this year
Kidd's fingerprints were all over that team.
Wow it's been exactly 9 years as of today
Good job! Sooo good video!
Thank you! Glad you liked it!
NBA 2k11... I would destroy everyone with the Mavs LOL
Dirk shoots 95% on his one-legged fadeaways in 2K11 haha
@@PandaHank41 You couldn’t play as the Mavericks in my house no no no 😂💯💯 #cheatcodedirk

At 3:03 is that rick? 😂😂 relax dude you're up 12
Yes it was lol
This is why Luka will never win a championship with his style of game play he ballhog a lot ala James harden era in Houston before
There's more than one way to win a championship. Jason Kidd is also a top 5 PG of All Time. Luka is very special in his own right.

He’s just 24. You’re really slow to make that type of comment about a 24 year old.
That was one of the best teams I’ve ever watched. Kidd was a phenomenal leader.
