From 74 to 80 I used to get the train every day from Seascale to school at St Bees. I knew all the guards and some drivers. Ari Roos. Ferdy. Isiah (cos one eye was higher than the other). Used to go in signal box at St Bees for a smoke and pulled the levers and opening the crossing gates which was a big wheel and hard work when it was windy.
Yeh great line, back in the 1970s we used to have `Round Robins` which were run by British Rail and they were a real good bargain as to price, I can remember travelling on one from Manchester Victoria up onto the Cumbrian Coast and then onto Carlisle and onto Newcastle on Tyne and back to Manchester Vic, it was my first and only time along the Cumbrian Coast and I'll never forget the scenery, I don't know if anyone else remembers them but they were a rail travellers delight.
I live about two miles from the Cumbrian Coast Line and do recommend the section from Whitehaven to Barrow and beyond for the scenery( the Northern section is quite bland). Also Northern Rail are now using locomotive hauled trains at peak times and these are more comfortable than Sprinters.
3:04 - I wonder whether Bugs survived?
Same!
I noticed that too. Poor little bunny!
I think they did. It looks like they were between the two rail. Must have ducked when the train was coming or jumped away just in time.
@@georgemacpherson1992 They're probably dead by now though :(

Not been down that route for a few years now, last time I did was in 2014 on the Cumbrian Coast Express with Carnforth's LMS 8F 2-8-0 no 48151.

There needs to be a new one made heading down the whole line from Carlisle to Carnforth which is hauled by a steam locomotive.
Rabbits on track at 3.11 minutes..
