- Kung-Fu Master was the first beat 'em up game. It was the video game equivalent of Bruce Lee's Game of Death, and it was groundbreaking in 1984. It is cited as the inspiration for subsequent successes like Double Dragon, Final Fight, Captain Commando, and Streets of Rage.
OMG! The memories. This was one of my favorite games.
One of the best games EVER made, an absolute legend.
The last boss is impossible to defeat.
Wow! The memories that are flowing back to me. I can't remember how many quarters I spent on that machine. Best game of its time, bar none.
Man, I remember playing this when I was a kid! I forgot about it until I somehow stumbled upon this video. Good times! Thanks for sharing!
One of the most difficult video games EVER made! Thanks for completing 🤩
One of the best parts of this game this video leaves out is when you do a flying jump kick and if you time it just right you can knock out two or more guys at once! Awesome!
That bastard with the knife probably cost me 100 dollars in quarters
insert coin ! lol
Jeffrey Palmer Lmmfao i agree
Jeffrey Palmer laughed out loud when I read your comment

It costed me a lot of chilean pesos. I got so nervous when the guys were coming ..aahh ! Stoop it !
one of my all time favs. and damn i didnt know how short it was seemed like forever when i was a kid playing this
One of many great arcade games from the mid 80s, the best era of the arcades. A time when if you was good you could spend hours on a game with just one coin. Towards the 90s regardless of skill, your game was over in a few minutes with a push towards continues where you was encouraged to shovel coins in.
I loved this game so much!! My record, two saves in a row. The third time was too hard. Worth all the months I put it to this amazing game. It's a shame the nintendo version is not as good as the arcade one.
I remember playing this in the arcade; sure better games came later, but at the time it was pure awesomeness!
I remember playing Kung-Fu Master in the arcades and on the NES as a kid, great memories!!!...
This one's a nostalgic piece of my life. Good ole arcade days inside some small bars and all.
You've just brought me 20 years into the past. I was a little girl when I watched my older cousins play this game at the arcade...
Thank you so much. :DDDD
Wow i tried to do this last night...... only got to the big guy level 3..... i remember spending loads of money on this when i was a kid... Respect for your gaming skills :-)
720000 punti.
Skills. I used to defeat the final master with a combination of standing punch then crouching punch. Brings back memories. Thanks of he upload.
Brings back great memories from the early 80s thanks for upload
the laugh would be so loud in the arcade that it would draw people over to you and watch...this was one of the loudest arcade games! 4:53
First played this as a 9 year old back in 87 on holiday at Rockley Park, Poole, UK. Once I'd wasted a small fortune failing at this I'd spend the rest of my pocket money getting angry at Outrun and then Pole Position. Good times!
Oh my beautiful memories 1980 - 1990 , i love that game
I NEVER KNEW THE NES VERSION WAS BASED OFF OF AN ARCADE GAME!
MIND BLOWN
me to!!
Well I remember playing this game in a arcade in Niagara Falls Canada in 85 or in 86!
This is old school beat-them-up at it's finest. Thank you for this. This is perhaps the only title I couldn't seem to beat.
But their happy days did not last long... they got MARRIED! 😱
Haha
Kung Fu 2 : The Revenge of Ms X -wife
jajajaja
Purani yadein tazaa ho gyi hai.....
I remember playing (or at least watching people play) both the C64 and NES versions of this game as a kid.
Without this, there wouldn't be Double Dragon, River City Ransom, Final Fight, Streets of Rage, Turtles in Time, Etc.
Wow. Played this on my comm 64 the music alone is giving me flash backs. Dam the 80s were so cool.
This was a great game. I remember beating this game in the 80s
The port of this on the NES was one of my favorite games ever. Must have played thru it countless times :)
I love how Sylvia was able to free herself at the end...AFTER Thomas did all that work.
Quien no lo va recordar esa época fenomenal
Wow, you are the master! My favorite arcade game as a kid! I never beat it though.
The Godfather's Pizza in my town had this game. It is the first video game that ever made me cry with frustration.
I frakin' loved this game. I would spend hours on the NES playing this. That small kid in the 2nd floor was a nuisance. This is the old-school version of the movie 'Old Boy'. LOL!
wow, the memories~~! i was like 7 when i played this. gawd, easy mode for a 7 year old is like expert mode. didnt the little ppl spin? such a long time ago~~
puub d yeah they would jump up n do a flip in mid air n come down n bop u on the head lol
When I was young, my dad used to own and operate an arcade. I remember him owning the cabinet for this. After hours or days that weren't open, he'd give me as many credits as I wanted, and I remember playing this game quite often.
Thank you for uploading this game, you've brought back some evil memories. If you guys really want to feel the pain again, it's on the iPad & it's hard!
I must of spent a bloody fortune on this during 1985/86 and still never got past the fourth stage! Great memories though.
i used to play this all the time in the arcade. I practically lived in the arcades thats all we did when i was coming up
Billy Joel said it best "This is the time to remember cause it will not last forever. These are the days to hold onto, but we wont although we'll want to"
A classic title that not only rocked the arcades in the 80s, but also one that most new jacks of today wouldn't even be able to get through. Very challenging and fast paced even without current day 3D graphics.
The gameplay kind of reminds me of the Game & Watch series in the early 80's
thanks so much, that lvl 4 boss has been my bane for decades!
I like how he marches up the stairs like an angry dad fetching his son down for dinner having already called him 4 times.
😆😆😆
Love the game and the name of yours' profile.
@@michelelaraia7358 Thank you! And yes, it was one of the first games that I became obsessed with at the arcade.
@@seventiesmovies same, and with Mame my mother's sister's elder cousin associated me with it.Contemporary with Karate Chiamo,DataEast 1984,max score 215.200. Played also Riot City,Sega/Westone,1991.
People always like to cite Double Dragon as an impressive game and being one of the first beat em ups, but tbh, there's nothing impressive about it when it's running in low resolution and suffers from slowdown 24/7. This game has bigger sprites, more sprites, no slowdown and IS the first beat em up, and it came 3 years BEFORE Double Dragon!
Irem definitely have underappreciated developers for sure.
True
This game was far less demanding than Double Dragon and had less going on at once.
Awesome. I used to play the NEW version. Classic game. Hail Kung-Fu Master.
Loved this game back in the day. Never got past 3rd floor though. Cool to see the end.
I remember watching the teenagers playing this at Richmond Ice Rink. We would all be bunched up around the machine in amazement. Simpler times...
this game is one of my favorites of all time
it brings me back a lot of memories
when i was a kid i used to play this game every day..hours of fun..!!
i love it!!
great game,great memories :)
dunking in the 10ps in this machine at Gt yarmouth in the summer in the early 80's was great,Always found it hard to find one of these in the arcades where the joystick worked 100% as the joystick took some abuse on this game
Just watching this gives me the same stressful feeling I had while playing it.
A Chinese Kung fu 8 Bit blues riff...MAN do I love these old games!!
Coin-op Arcade games FTW!!
Grało się w tą grę w salonach gier w latach 80 tych. To było mistrzostwo świata wtedy.
Cool game! Cool video!
I played this going to trade school another lifetime ago, the memories..thanks for posting!
My father wasted a lot of money to make me happy playing this game... I remember he was watching me loosing and loosing again, and he kept buying me coins.
He is my true and real hero...
Wow the memories. ... I finally beat this game when I bought the NES advantage controller lol. Turbo buttons
I used to love this game so much when I was 12, I never defeated it though as I would always go from the beginning each time, I remember it being insanely difficult.
happiness didn't last long? she broke up with him cause all he ever did was talk about Kong fu.
Nah, this game like the nes port had ya starting over in a constant loop. Hence the number of replays with the dragon icon there.
Yeah. Now she stuck in that chair. Unlucky.
my all time fav arcade game and first one i actually completed - was so addicted to that hook and pulse beat that just kept me going - twas back in the days u could use a magic clipper give the machine a little shock and get 1000 credits!
I can remember playing this in a local coffee and Taxi shop, Got to be mid 1980`s, It was a hard game, Because if you do get knocked off, You return right back at the start of each level
It feels like Game of Death, but the names "Thomas" and "Silvia" come from the movie "Wheels on Meals" with Jackie Chan as "Thomas", the original game "Spartan X" is actually started as a in for that film.
Seems mental completing an arcade game in seven minutes :D
yes, it was over 10 years ago for me too.
Very fond memories. Nice to hear that they may re-open Dreamland.
Wonder if they'd get classic arcades like this back too? (highly unlikely.. but would be nice!)
Make feel young again 😊!
WOW..this takes me back to when I lived in Queens new york and going to the grocery store and playing this. I was 8 years old in 1984.
My friends and i were hooked o this game. I tried taping a string to the quarter to trick the machine. I was 13 in 1984
Egglot12 - that would be 'yie ar kung fu' my friend. Another classic!
Thats how you complete a whole game in 7mns not days and weeks. :) My fav arcade game
this takes me back , this game was awsome
Longing for this time, I remembered my childhood now in the Flipper machines
I love this game back then!!! now UFC today! lol!
Nice! Good times...I remember being pretty good at this game.
The first game I ever saw and the best I loved playing it bk in 80's especially that laugh 😂 it was the best
I remember how much money I spent in this game.
It was brilliant.
ah, brings me back to the arcades back in the early 80s...
I never got past the 3rd level of this game. I used to call the 3rd level boss 'Mr. Clean'. I spent more time playing Spy Hunter and Karate Champ back then. Good times.
Son I use to LOVE that game. I have been looking for it. If I could find the old cabinet game I would buy it!!!!!
There is a website selling arcade machines with hundreds or even thousands of games. tinyarcademachines.com
I fucking love the sound!!! Used to play the coin up version when the carousels arrived...time fleeing
same old SEGA games....i still have 1 working...those were good times xD
Oh the scrolling of arcade games. No home system could quite keep up with
Yeah back then not now that is for sure
WOW I finished this game so many times in the arcade. I think the second time through you have to punch the wizard or troll or what ever he was in the stomach only. If you kicked his head off he would come back. I hope I remember that right. XD
I love this game I spent hours playing 😁 at a time
The fight sequences are so real! It's like watching a Steven Segal movie. He beats everyone up with just 1 hit.
My favorite game as a kid.
loved this game back in the day
Hella old school. I remember playing this a P.w.supermarket on the southside san jo
So cool. I played this at Golfland!
Frekin' legendary arcade. Each coin I asked for to my parents went to this
This game was so much fun
I love how the enemies just walk into his face kicking action. Plus are those children he's hitting? And as usual the girl is purely for show. I thought she was a kung fu master too but I obviously misread. Hahaha, love these games.
One of my favorite Nintendo games.
they still have it in some amusement parks in Jersey. This is old school. Lol.
Fuck I loved this game back in the day.....lashing in 10p's in like there was no tomorrow.
WOW! I had no idea.
this is called SPARTAN X in Japan.
The Nintendo version kept the name Spartan X.
Back in the day ur right, it was groundbreaking & fuking solid! I always laugh wen he does the jump kick! This is y i love RUclips, coz u can watch old stuff like this at the touch of a button..class!
Ahh the arcade room and the quarters that I lost playing Kung Fu Master, R-Type, Trojan, Tokio and Mr DO!
I would have called everyone a liar if they said this was in arcades. This was the first Nintendo game I ever had....outside of the Super Mario/Duck Hunt that cane with the system.
Dude i Gotta admite i never saw nobody play this game as good as you...
i never make up to the 3º flor lol
well done
WHOA! The evil laughter sounds scarier than the NES version!...........I love it! >=3
I REMENBER THIS GAME,GOOD TIMES!!!!!!
