my husband, who has a magnificent voice. Now has the band Penny Whiskey, and is loved by many fans!
This is absolutely BRILIANT! Just saw Penny Whiskey (formerly the 2 guys from Kilbrannan) yesterday at the Amherst Scottish Fest and they sang this. The funny thing was when they “qued” the crowd on the next line, I was the only one who shouted “Poteen Me Boys”. I can hardly wait for Olcott Fest next month for the roving minstrals to belt this out again!
My favorite song by this grand group of musicians.
I used to watch these guys whenever they'd play at Coleman's, up on Tipp hill. I wish I could catch them again...

I heard this on THISTLE AND SHAMROCK (USA radio) about 20 years ago - not sure if it was this band, but this version is GREAT!
It's Scots, pronounced "pocheen" and the lyrics misspelled pep as "pap". If ye care aboot sich truckle. Its written in a quaint, 1900's dialect that derives from a Manchesterian cum Lalans argot. And if that isn't awsome enough, And every version would and should be vastly different. Only proves its pedigree, if you ask me.

@Dreoilin normally i'd agree with you except that somethings arent different from artist to artist. this would be one. also i dont think that the song would say he was being given whiskey and then flipped out when only a drop made it to his mouth. the fact that babies shouldnt have whiskey at all is also a hint the lyrics are wrong
Good um there are parts where the lyrics are wrong for example:
"Was filling my mouth with a notion of pap" is "Was filling her mouth with a notion of pap"

I wish they would have abstained this lumpish heavy metal guitar. It sounds just synthetic and inappropriate and and ruins all. What a pity!
