Then in one quick sweep it’s all taken away. I believe depression along with drug abuse killed Tommy. We’re all human and if I met him, I would have told him that he matters to all of his true fans.
No, he didn't. The reason his later tests were negative, is because the medication is good enough to keep your viral count so low, that you test negative. You're still highly contageous though. And he probably did infect people, before testing positive (and maybe later on as well, when he started believing he wasn't positive)... It can take up to 6 months post infection to test positive.
It's well documented that he had a number of positive tests. He did however live in denial, even in this interview he is totally delusional. He always talked a good talk, but didn't have too much to back it up - apart from his amazing left hook! A tragic story
In 2006, a decade after his diagnosis, the Nevada Athletic Commission mysteriously lifted Morrison’s ban from boxing without any explanation. In July 2007, the new york times reported that Tommy took two HIV tests in 2007 and a third specifically for the Times. HIV experts reviewed the three tests and concluded that the 1996 result had been a false positive. “The mixed result in the Jan. 5 test makes it likely that the antibody result is a false positive,” according to Dr. Daniel R. Kuritzkes, a Harvard professor who directs AIDS research at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston and is chairman of the board of the H.I.V. Medicine Association. “It’s hard to know for sure what’s going on, but I suspect he was never H.I.V.-infected.” Following the test results in 2007, Morrison fought two more times in West Virginia and Mexico. I believe he was a drug addict though as you can see his health decline at a certan point in his life, primarily on meth and heroin. You can see him tweaking in an interview when he was promoting fight night champion

Mercer tyson Lewis holyfield Bowe were all champs during his time and they were much better than him. I'm pretty sure even Roy jones could have beat him too at the time lol
I have a lot more respect for Morrison. I think he definitely had some fantastic ideas on where boxing was heading from a business standpoint, along with UFC, MMA. He would have made a great manager, coach, friend to younger boxers trying to make it. He would have been a great face to professional boxing as a commentator, analyst, etc. It's a shame what happened to him. I think his reputation was tarnished by the media and others in boxing.
Fun Fact: The guy playing Union Kane (his nemesis in Rocky V) was ALSO an undefeated prospect, and they were supposed to fight each irl other to promote the movie... but the guy playing Union Kane (femaledogged) out.
I really think Tommy morrison was and is the best heavy weight boxer ever alongside Ali and tyson, Tommy had the raw power, skill and the right attitude to be the most popular boxing fighter of all time, well at least today his fanbase is bigger than any fighter in history, I know a few weasels will argue otherwise but in all serious Ness he has proved himself and he's proved to be a better person in value, skill and the fact that he has been a top record of being on the top level of one of the most visios fighters and highest ko percent of all time for a heavy weight boxer and above all he is one of the most exciting and most popular and powerful fighters ever, I even think that he is slightly above iron Mike tyson which is a feet in itself as iron Mike tyson is a close counterpart to Tommy and I would love to challenge anyone to comment on this subject as it is a close and very very close all time position for anyone out there to talk about with this subject so what do you boxing annylists think about that!??!
No one on the planet that has AIDS continues to hold 230 lb in weight, 15 years after he's diagnosed, I've been around people with AIDS and they work out like crazy and cannot gain a pound and are skinny as a rail within two to three years after diagnosis. There's no way he had it and looked at good 12 years later. I call bullshit, but then again you probably believe in global warming as well, as if global warming hasn't been happening for millions of years, do the research, it rises and falls, it's never "the end world"
@@redcabbageVic Tommy had HIV, not AIDS. Also Tommy had HIV for years before being diagnosed. Meaning he had it when he was still one of the most dangerous fighters on the planet. I doubt Tommy ever got AIDS, he simply died due to drug abuse.

Guys the man had chest implants to make his chest look muscular after he was told he had HIV and the implant became infected that's why he had the gauze packs in that big gaping wound that is what made him die
There's a lot of good decent white heavies now its not a big deal really now but back then I guess it was different I'm sure that had to have been frustrating, I wonder if Adam Kownacki or David Allen go through the pressure of the media probably not like the Duke he was quite the movie star of boxing not by choice though he is the Duke John Waynes great nephew after all.

@@pause1644 Nah. He was voted 8th best HW of the 1990s. He Beat Foreman, he Beat Ruddock, he got caught off the ropes by Bennt and lost to arguably the best HW of the mid nineties to early 2000s Lennox Lewis. He fought 293 times lost 3 times and KOd only twice.
Pretty sure he never had HIV, he was hooked on all kind of drugs though meth and heroin primarily, he does another interview like this for fight night champion where he is in a pitiful state
Sad he was trying to convince himself he was going to fight again yet he was sick. Notice he said he would go to Vegas the beginning of the year to straighten everything out, he never followed up on his statement. Hope he now is truly at peace.
One of my favourite fighters ever. A awesome force fighter. A beast in the ring. Great fighter. I just wish he had lived happily for the rest of his life after retirement. I do wish that had happened for him. 👍
A real awesome brawler. Huge puncher and extremely powerful. Awesome. 🥊
tommy morrison is the best boxing champion of all ages
Mercer tyson Lewis holyfield Bowe were all champs during his time and they were much better than him. I'm pretty sure even Roy jones could have beat him too at the time lol
RIP Tommy
Best white boxer I EVER seen with helluva power and I'm black guy Tommy hands down one of the best 💯
He was a great heavyweight period. White or black don't need to be added
I add wat I want to add long as I'm not a RACIST and l give the man a compliment I made dis comment a year ago buddy have a great LIFE
R.I.P.
Rip from Canada.
Thank you.
Wish there was video of his MMA bout. I always liked Tommy. To bad he's gone now. Rest well Champ!
moodmusik there is a video of his mma bout. On you tube. 😎
one of the best left hooks in the business
Why they cut him off as soon as he'd said something about the lies media creat?
R.I.P champ your sadly missed definatley a hero of mine ,best left hook ever 👊
Damn shame he let one of those stupid Aids denlialist get into his ear and tell him not to take meds. It no reason he should be dead now. Dame shame.
+THOMAS SODOMIZER yes with the Medications today he would be still alive.. with very low Viral load
Ironically it was drugs that did kill him.
@@sammylong3704 If you have HIV and don´t get you medicine you WILL DIE OF A AIDS related disease eventually. Moron!
This guy was talking sense well ahead of his time. Internet PPV, talked sense on MMA.
Elliot Prentice ya James Tony did extremely well in the ufc didn’t he
Jf77 he koed randy couture
he should have stayed away from hollyweird.
cary mccreight he should have stayed away from IV drugs... just snort or smoke the shit geez..
Yea he looked super healthy ....very sad story, boxers have a special place in my heart 🙂❤️
I recently read he secretly knew from 89 before he even shot Rocky, it wasn't until he refused a blood test around 95-96 until he came out with it.
@I. Wynn Wynn I don't think there is a definite answer as to how he contracted it.
Tommy was having unprotected sex with prostitutes in Philly during the filming of Rocky V. That’s how and when he likely contracted it.
Not to be mean, but why is he wearing eye liner...
Have you never seen the movie Semi-Pro
@@wheelssnipecellye2115 it doesnt matter if ive seen the movie or not... I was just trying to figure out why hes wearing it... My question has nothing to do with a movie.
Have you seen 1984?
The eyeliner question had been asked on this comment thread countless times. It's been done to death.
E triste talentoso ator e campeão de boxe mundial e jovem partir tão cedo
🥲🥲🙏🙏🙏🙏
Tommy the duke morrison and Mike tyson are the Best boxing champions of all ages
Kralju kako ti ne dosadi
Emir Vražlić, Morrison isn’t in Tyson’s league. Morrison isn’t even as good as Lennox Lewis, Holyfield, etc.
@Omar Jad Al Farid both became undisciplined but tyson was more skilled had a longer career and was able to accomplish more despite his downfall... had they fought at anytime in their careers no doubt tyson would have washed him up lol
Amazing how drugs and alcohol change people sad RIP Tommy
Great Boxer RIP🙏🌹
Tommy morrison to był pierwszy boxer biały ktury walił czarnych ostro RiP TOMMY MORRISON
Morrison admitted himself , after he left Vegas he got retested and it it proved he really was positive
You got a source for that?
RIP, Tommy
great boxer, looked the part too.
I think he looks healthy here to be honest
Mike Pinder he was wearing a lot of makeup and somehow his beard went a much darker colour as he got older, that being said he did look good considering.
Mike Pinder yeah, i was thinking the same thing. i mean, he is wearing a fair amount of make up to cover up his fading looks as the disease is eaying him up. it wasnt to long after this though thay he became unrecognisable.
The other day he was lean as a bean
@I believe In AfterLife hes 38/9 here
@@buckypreseau7349 What disease??! He DIDN'T HAVE HIV/AIDS! POST MORTEM TEST PROVES THIS...
he was not notised enough I first seen him in rocky 5 did not even know
that he was a fighter dont even know why this guy was not well known for some reason GOD BLESS HIM.
Not well known by who? Dude was a top 5 heavyweight, most people knew him.
BoxingGuru123123
he wasnt a top 5 heavyweight
if he wasit a top 5 heavyweight then where was this guy but what he is saying is the truth they dont want a white heavy weight champ which is really sad
lol the boxing establishment is waiting for a white american heavyweight champion. he wasnt better than Tyson, Lewis, Holyfield, Moorer, Mercer, Bowe, or Cooper. he was average
*****
In your mind. Not in everyone else's.
He grew up in the small town of Jay Oklahoma
r.i.p duke
He's right about the Ufc
Izzy Segura ya James Tony did real well didn’t he
That comment didn't age well
Bruce Buffalo it wasnt well 5 years ago
Such a shame he got sick, he was a freight train wrecking machine in his prime.
@@HolyRollerTV and meth and coke lol
@BAR475 and who are you
Top 5 Boxer Ever!
You did good Tommy, you did good
He is what Jerry Quarry would have been with 6 more inches and health-until the mind goes. I see his explosive blows and Quarries as one.
R.I.P
The Duke sure had a killer left hook, could bang and box on his toes awesome fighter.
Ring Magazine ranks his left hook the third best in history of boxing. And I have to agree.
I salute the Duke!!!
Guys the man had chest implants to make his chest look muscular after he was told he had HIV and the implant became infected that's why he had the gauze packs in that big gaping wound that is what made him die
Huh? haha
He had full blown aids get over it
There's a lot of good decent white heavies now its not a big deal really now but back then I guess it was different I'm sure that had to have been frustrating, I wonder if Adam Kownacki or David Allen go through the pressure of the media probably not like the Duke he was quite the movie star of boxing not by choice though he is the Duke John Waynes great nephew after all.
legendary the duke
was he wearing eye liner
such a tragic ending.
One of the toughest guys of all time... & He decides to put a pair of pants on his head... Were all human
Not many MMA fighters could stand with this Boxer ,they would wake up a week later asking what happened
Another sad story and Tommy was a powerful boxer but drugs over powered him he was on something in this interview probably cocaine but when he was in shape in his prime he was a tank
