  • Are Cordless Battery Powered Lawn Mowers Worth The Money? There so many brands out there like EGO, Hart, Worx, Ryobi, Toro and many more. We can not tell you the Atlas Cordless lawn mower is better, but we can show it work. We show you the truth on this cordless mower! This is not just one of the many self propelled lawn mower reviews. We run this FlexVolt battery powered lawn mower from Harbor Freight through the paces. We tested the Atlas 80V Lithium-ion cordless 21 inch self propelled mower in real world conditions. We cut it no slack. It is rated to mow for 80 mins of mowing and we mowed through light stuff, thick stuff, and mean stuff.

I've purchased the Atlas mower beginning of this spring and been mowing my yard with it every since, I can't emphasize how convenient it is and how precise a battery powered mower performs. This is a good investment, well worth the price !!

I’ve had my Ryobi two years works great. It came with a 5 year warranty on mower 3 year battery warranty. The 90 day Atlas warranty seems a little lean for a new product.

    • @TonysTractorAdventure
      @TonysTractorAdventure  4 года назад +33

The warranty is not really lean. For the first 90 days, it be swapped out if it doesn't work, no questions. Ryobi is a good mower, but to get warranty after the 30 day warranty from the store is absolutely ridiculous. You would have to pay for shipping to a repair center and wait for it to come back. The cost of shipping to and from makes it almost cheaper to buy another new one. If you buy the extended warranty from Harbor Freight, they will just swap it out for up to two years. No questions.

Tony's Tractor Adventure as a retired service tech the Atlas and others are replacement only no repair. The only parts you can get for the Atlas is batteries and blades. So after 90 days you buy a new one unless you bought the extended warranty. I was told at my Home Depot there is a charge for out of warranty products, but not in warranty products. Hope I won’t have to use the warranty. Your Atlas is impressive hope you have good luck with it.

Two years into my Ryobi mower ownership and the handle breaks due to what I consider to be very flimsy construction. It's now sitting at a "warranty center" 50 miles from my house. Waiting for two weeks now. My guess is they'll fix it, but it's not all it's cracked up to be. It will break again. I'm not impressed with mower quality. Battery quality is great, though.

I bought the push version last spring. I mow the majority of our .6 acre lawn with JD rider, but I like to have a push mower for the tight spots. We had Toro rear drive self propelled for over 8 years, started every time. But the transmission for the drive went out and would be too costly to repair. We pushed it by hand for awhile but was heavy. My brother's push mower went out, so I gave him the Toro because he didn't care about self propelled since his yard is tiny. I had been using the Atlas 40v & 80v yard tools for a few years with no issues. So I decided to try this 80v push mower. I was impressed with the minimal assembly right out of the box. The deck and blade are steel, not plastic. The low noise level surprised me. The leveling system is not tedious at all. I can cut my front yard and rear large fenced-in dog yard on a single charge if I choose to. I have the tree saw, small chainsaw, blower, hedge cutter, string trimmer, and the new edger. No issues.

Excellent review! I have the push Atlas 80v mower and it works great with solid power/performance over wet and high/thick South Florida St Augustine grass. I use it with one 80V 4.0 Ah battery (their largest) it does both front and back of a 100x100 ft single-family home. Mulching w/no bag. Their fast charger is well worth the money.
Very happy with it and never going back to gas or corded mowers. Just bought their larger Atlas 80v blower using the same BATT and it works like a champ. Next I'm getting their Atlas weed-wacker...

@@Margalus Not really. In my experience products like this with long warranties also have a long list of exceptions, or you have to pay to ship it off somewhere for covered repairs. I wouldn't assign a whole lot of value to a 5 year manufacturer's warranty. On the other hand, you can buy the Atlas with an extended warranty, and those are typically honored. Within 90 days you should find out if you have a lemon or not.
I did end up purchasing the Atlas last week. HF had another sale and dropped $40 more off the price. The biggest factor to me ended up being the cost of the batteries for the EGo. It only comes with one, and a second one runs $350!!! Just for a battery! Where for less total money up front I can get two batteries plus the quick charger with the Atlas. And if I need to replace one, they are less than one third the cost. ($110) I also got the Atlas string trimmer and I'm very happy with both of them. Also got 12 months 0% interest financing at HF.

@@davidnettleton3375 They have a very good reputation for warranty service. They contract with local service centers for repair, there are several within 10 miles of me that service them. As for batteries, EGO batteries are known to be among the best, that's why they are expensive. But you can buy much cheaper generic batteries for them also. Besides, that one EGO battery you mention is expensive has the power of 4-6 of your atlas batteries from harbor freight. The Atlas battery is 100WH, the EGO battery is 420WH with the Power Plus and 560WH with the Select Cut XP.

Ego was cheaper when new also, real cheap. I have had two ego 20" mowers for about 10 years along with blower, three grass trimmers, and a bush trimmer. Bought all on line from varied venders, they are all registered with Ego. Had a mower that would not work at all after I purchased it, called Ego, sent me a new mower (no charger or battery) immediately. Still have the one that didn't work for parts. All six batteries still work, one charger went bad out of six, quick charger still works. I was surprised at Atlas's price too, especially for batteries, but it sent a caution message to my mind. Believe atlas is about 20 lbs heavier too. That's my experience with Ego. Thanks

You did a very honest and instructive video and provided most of the information you had available. Not scaring
the chickens, vertical storage, and not having to store gasoline are good reasons for buying it, but I have learned
not to trust battery-powered tools. I have the same issues and questions with all battery-powered tools.
#1 How long will the battery power last under a real load? You never actually say how many hours you mowed
continuously, and the grass you mowed was not much of a load compared to a healthy St Agustine lawn.
#2 How long does it take to recharge when you run down the batteries?
#3 How many times can you charge the batteries before replacing them? Two of those batteries are $219.98 each
which is nearly the same price as the mower at $249.99. Every power mower I ever had lasted me at least 20+ years.
#4 Harbor freight gives a 90-day warranty, but are the batteries part of the warranty? After 30 days, do you deal with
Harbor Freight for the warranty, or Atlas?
#5 Will this (Chinese)Atlas company be around a year from now if you need a part like that plastic fan blade underneath
the mower which looks like it could easily be broken by hitting a rock. You sure can't count on Harbor Freight for parts.
I would love to hear a follow-up video on this a year or two from now to see how much more money you had to put
into it to keep it going. I hope you prove me wrong, but for now, I will stick to my 5 hp gas mower. Thanks for the video.
    Stay safe.
    God Bless.
    James from Houston, Texas

Great vid bubba; appreciate it. Been research in’ for a long while now on batt brushless mowers. I’m soon to be retiring from military & I’m tired of petrol mowers. Was bout to settle on the GreenWorks 80V, but came across this Atlas the other day at local HF, so once again began research. Always been a fan HF, but hadn’t known bout their batt mowers. Ur vid is the 2nd one I’ve viewed & with the same positive results. One thing caught my eye, tho. The similarities, cosmetically wise, compared to the GreenWorks & Kobalt batt mowers. Then thru research I have discovered that all 3, including like 2 others that aren’t well known are made by the same China manufacturing plant & ultimately owned by Chevron I believe. I’m familiar, as a frequent shopper of HF, know how their warranties are ran & IMO this is a good deal. I’m most likely gonna purchase this Atlas after all. The other popular mowers, such as HD’s Ryobi & Lowe’s EGO are good, but I’m not a fan of a polyurethane plastic deck, as they’ve been known to ‘tweek’ in a way where the blades could cut into the deck. As long as you scrape off the grass buildup underneath a steel deck, they won’t rust out nearly as bad since those clumps hold moisture. The steel decks will last much, much longer. Anyways, great review & God’s Blessings from the greatest state of TEXAS!

I was glad to see that the batteries this Atlas mower uses can be put into the Atlas chainsaw, edger, weed eater etc. So that mitigates the expensiveness of the batteries in a sense. Tony's Tractor Adventure I’m sure it’s fine i was just commenting on the general method to self propel speed control. What I’m referring to is the same as ryobi smart trek where the top portion of the handle pushes in so the faster you walk the more that pushes the section in resulting in more speed. It has the advantage of stopping the self propel being the same as stopping a regular push mower, just stop walking and the self propel stops after a small roll out.

Harbor Freight now has the self propelled mower for $249.99 . The push mower for $199.99 . Wonder if they're being replaced or the price reduction is due to fall coming soon ?

They seem to put out a product and see how it sells at a given price. The string trimmer was originally 99 bucks and it's now regularly 89. They find where it sells better and adjust accordingly it seems. The blower dropped in price too.

We still love ours as well. My wife uses it to cut grass around the chicken house. It is quite enough it does not bother the chickens. She then throws the grass in for the chickens.

How long have you been moving when u did this video and how many acres? Great video overall

I don't mow acres. I trim with it. I mowed a lot in this video for a test. The mower is a couple years old now and still works great.

Still running like new after a year? Any idea of replacement battery costs down the road? I’d think everything else would run for a good long while without issue

No problems. We have the chainsaw, weedwacker, and the mower.

Nice review man! So you can’t run that mower with the 40V battery right? just want to confirm before purchasing🤔

    • @TonysTractorAdventure
      @TonysTractorAdventure  3 года назад +1

I am not sure. I only have 80 volt batteries. I don't think it will run with 40v

@@TonysTractorAdventure yea, I believe the other tools & accessories are made to run with the 40V👌🏼

If you have a 40v tool, the 80/40 volt will work. If you have the 80v tool, I think only the 80/40 volt battery will work.

How’s the mower holding up? Been thinking of getting one for the areas my tow behind can’t get to. Although at the current time Lowe’s has the EGO non propelled model with battery and charger for $399

We used it the other day and it is doing fine. My neighbor bought one also, he uses it a lot. Both Atlas mowers have held up nicely.
