To me it was heartbreaking ... but part of the providence of the Father ... it was my excommunication that led me to seriously reconsider Manichaeism (although I was always a student of the movement due to my deep interest in Augustinian studies) as it forced me to reengage with the problem of evil and reevaluate the answers of St. Augustine and the orthodox and Reformed traditions.
Officially I was excommunicated because of a serious sin I committed, concerning which I was my own accuser (I told on myself) ... but despite this my repentance was deemed insufficient and I was suspected of Antinomianism and Hyper-Calvinism by the session of the church ... a big point of disagreement was over whether or not it was sufficient for a person to repent of their sinful nature and desire healing or whether a person also needed to repent of their own particular sins in the words of the Westminster Confession of faith "particularly". I still love many of the people in the OPC, including the pastor of the church the session of which excommunicated me.
We have responded to your response. Grace and peace to you in the Lord Jesus Christ.
I didn't know you were excommunicated from a church, that's pretty cool I'm ngl
