I really hope the phone pop-in VR thing gets given another chance in the future, with cleaner execturion. With phone screens having massively increased PPI, way faster chips especially for graphics, much better general motion tracking, high refresh + OLED screens I feel like an average phone goes quite a ways towards checking all the boxes for a decent VR experience. There is one, ONE amazing use for phone VR, and that's VR panoramas. If you take a panorama with the Google camera app, it can be viewed as a VR image. This isn't just a flat panorama you can look around, the image is actually 3D, and you can hear the audio that was recorded when you took the image as well. It's a really cool way to capture a memory or location. I've got panoramas of places that don't even exist anymore, and this is the closest I'll ever be able to get to revisiting them.

Am I crazy if I say that I still believe in Google cardboard? I mean, I feel like noone actually tried hard enough. We could make it work.
    Like:
*Fixing the menus to work in VR
*Try to make the game more phone friendly with simple styled graphics.
*Use simple gamedev technics to get as much performance as possible
*We need games that will keep the user playing for longer
*We need to design a standard button configuration to use all the features the best way
    * We need more robust configurations, for graphics and lenses (more flexible)
    * We chould create solutions for the 6 dofs problem (it needs to be simple and not graphical intense)
Those are a few ideas. It won't be the Vive pro or index, but you will definitely have a better time
