    Hello my friend.
    Beautiful salt cellars. Great boxes. snap systems are also very nice. Congratulations. Thank you for sharing. See you. Big greetings.

    I built a few iterations of the Kenji salt boxes and experimented with several size configurations and this is what feels just right for us - w5 X d3.5 X h4" which is very close to the Kenji size.
    I tried it without a revealed lip on the lid (or recess in front panel ala Kenji) and find this feature makes the cellar so much more of a pleasure to use on the daily. (your lid appears to have a reversed reveal by about a mil)
    One unusual delight when using the cellar is the great hollow knock sound when you let the lid free-fall after use...

    The other person's name who you couldn't recall/didn't know, that Kenji collaborated with, is Brad Leone.

    You need to start being more stealthy with the projects so some actually make it to market 😅 They should sell well if you ever get some listed!

    Very nice boxes Paul, and great video too. What are you using for your outside finish and do you finish the inside of the boxes also? Thanks for posting this video.

    Hi and thanks for a really nice video. I will be checking out that NOPINO jig :D I have a question though.
    How much time would you say you get from that brand of hide glue before it seizes up?
    Cheers from Norway.

      Titebond quote 10mins, but "up to" 15mins in a pinch. 20-30 mins total assembly time, needs to be clamped for probably two hours.

    Nice looking boxes. I can see why you didn't have many left to sell :)
    Question: Where did you source your bandsaw blade from?

    • @TheWoodKnight
      @TheWoodKnight  3 года назад +1

      The blade on the saw I got from a local place - "Superior Saws", but they have a non-functional website.
      I've got a "backup" blade from CSK (combinedsaw.com.au/) which is identical specced and from my test cuts, gives pretty much the exact same results!

    I’m in the process of making one of these as well! What good timing for me to see your process. I have a quick question about the bottom panel. Can you confirm if you glued it into the dado or not?

    • @TheWoodKnight
      @TheWoodKnight  3 года назад +1

      The panel is floating, not glued in.
      At this size you could probably get away with it but there is no real advantage while running the risk of wood movement issues if you do glue it

    They'll sell well at Christmas.
    I've got the same drill press and would like to get one of those spinning handle things you've attached to the drill press wheel. Would you mind telling me where I can get one/where you got yours?

    • @TheWoodKnight

      It's actually just a 3D printed thing www.prusaprinters.org/prints/43828-bosch-pbd-40-wheel-knobs
      I think there are also "steering wheel knobs" - an extra air for turning a steering wheel? I don't know the technical name, sorry! - that attach to them as well

    Hi mate, another top video. Is that Tassie Oak or some other species you are using? And the darker timber? John, Sunshine Coast

    • @TheWoodKnight
      @TheWoodKnight  3 года назад +2

      Cheers! Yup, its vic ash/tas oak for the light timber, and jarrah for the dark timber. *Technically* the bases for the jarrah boxes is karri - only because I had some 1/4" karri already on hand!

    I know this video is a couple of years old now, but is there any chance you’re still selling these? I’d love to buy one. I’m in Australia and the only ones I can find on ETSY ship from america along with a hefty shipping fee worth almost as much as the box itself!

      I'm not at the moment, but the goal is to start in the next financial year (that is, mid to late July 2023 is the plan). I'm currently in the workshop (on this freezing Melbourne day) packing for moving house in a month!

      @@TheWoodKnight yes, I’m also in Melbourne, I live out in the hills, pretty chilly up there this morning! Do you thing you’ll be selling through Etsy? I’ll keep an eye out if so.

    • @TheWoodKnight
      @TheWoodKnight  Год назад

      @@DaCheat100 I'll likely be selling directly on my website (through Gumroad) and Etsy. Etsy will probably be priced slightly higher because of all the extra fees that get included there unfortunately!
      I'll be sure to post stuff on youtube when it goes live :)

    Beautiful work, sir! Random question, but I have the same Bosch plunge router (MRC23EVSK) and was wondering if you've figured out a good dust collection system for it? The hose ports by Bosch have gotten terrible reviews for breaking all the time, and it looks like they might be discontinued. Any tips? Thanks!

    • @TheWoodKnight
      @TheWoodKnight  3 года назад +1

      I'm just using the stock bosch parts (GOF1600CE comes with dust collection attachments standard) and haven't had any issues. I'm not sure how you could break them unless you throw your router around (then again, I've seen some people who are incredibly rough on their tools!)
      It'd be the RA1177AT (I think) in the US.

    What is liquid hot glue? I've never heard of it before.

    • @TheWoodKnight
      @TheWoodKnight  3 года назад

      Liquid Hide Glue is a room-temperature liquid version of hot hide glue. Two companies make version (Titebond's Liquid Hide Glue is what I use, also Franklins first glue!, and Old Brown Glue), but there are DIY recipes too.
      The glue has many advantages over PVA - lubricates joints, doesn't stain wood/'glow' under finish, reversible, sticks to itself and has a longer open time. Its main disadvantages is it isn't waterproof (think of it more like Titebond I rather than III) and is a little more expensive.
      I've entirely switched to it for my 'joinery' glue, using only PVA for laminations (where more volume is needed) and epoxy for waterproof situations!

    • @nperson
      @nperson 3 года назад

      @@TheWoodKnight I thought it might be hide glue but the captions generated by RUclips keep referring to it as hot glue and the audio wasn’t clear.
