It is counter intuitive that one needs to do a factory reset after a firmware update, but such is life with Roland it seems. These instructions are easy to follow and I able to find the new sounds and patterns. Super Thanks.

@@choppedstrandaudio4561 Yeah: thanks for this. I couldn't get the Editor to read until I did the Factory Reset. And I'm actually glad that I did it -- I think reduce, reduce, reduce is the theme on my TR8S right now! I need it to sound like the TR8S and play like the TR8, if you know what I mean.
      Thanks again!

Thanks for the video. In my case, the TR-editor automatically did the update, but I had to do the factory reset to find the new patterns and kits. Most other folks doing videos just wanted to get on the machine and play around. Thanks for the help!

Good stuff big sir ❤ I updated mine via the editor but had to factory reset to pull in the patterns, as it kept my previous pattern steps but bounced the version to 3.0 adding the CR78

hello, well I was a bit in a hurry with the update my tr8s got crazy after the update and I don't know what to do now I guess I'll take it to the service.
In my case after installing system 3.0 all sets under one pattern have the same value and the same sequencer, i.e. if I make a sample on set 1 and save it then on set 2,3,4..... the sequencer from sample 1 does not change. I don't know if I explained it well regards

Hi. Thank you so much for this. I just updated mine to 3.0. Seems like I have the CR 78 sounds, but not the CR 78 preset patterns - Roland mentions the software comes with - CR 78 Disco, Rhumba, etc.. Doe this mean I have follow your steps of 1.) SD Card Back up 2.) Factory Reset 3.) Upload my back up. How do I know that my original sounds won't override the factory preset, once I perform step 3? Can I choose which pattern, sound, kit, goes where, when I bring back my back up (after the reset)? Thank you so much.

Hey, if you want the new 3.0 pattern and kits you only do the backup, update and factory reset.
However, if you want to keep your kits and patterns you can choose what you want to backup. You can try to backup your kits and see if the original new kits are also present or the other way around with only your patterns.
I do not have the new kits and patterns after the backup only sounds. If you ask on how to keep your kits and patterns and have the new kits and patterns as well, I'm currently figuring this out.

@@choppedstrandaudio4561 Thank you. I thought about this for a bit. I think i'm going to use two SD Cards. One for Factory Reset. One for my back up. So: step 1.) back up my patterns /kits 2.) Factory Rest. 3.) Back up 3.0 factory reset on the 2nd SD Card. Step4.) Re-upload all my back up patterns kits. Step 5.) Take the SD Card thats just factory presets and upload only the CR78 kit and 3.0 preset patterns. As complicated as that seems, it'll ne easier than trying to re-upload individually All my kits/patterns etc.

I just bought a new TR-8S and just took it out of the box. I haven't saved any of my own sounds/patterns to it. Do I still have to buy an SD card and do a Backup before doing the Firmware update? I am assuming the Factory Reset will restore all the original Roland-provided sounds, but I don't want to risk it if I can't be sure.

As far as I understand (according to the firmware update manual) you can update via USB cable or via SD card. That means you do not necessarily need an SD card and a backup. However, doing the backup on SD card is one recommended step.

Ok I have a question: there are 8 pattern banks, right? But they are all full after 3.0 update. Where do you write your own patterns to? Do you have to delete presets to save new beats?

    • @choppedstrandaudio4561
      @choppedstrandaudio4561  Год назад

Hey, a kit has up to 16 patterns with each 8 variations. After the update to 3.0 I have 10 free kits with up to 16 patterns each and each pattern has 8 variations. If everything is full you have to delete some stuff :)

@@choppedstrandaudio4561Thanks for the reply! I guess i need to fiddle with the unit. Wait, maybe you can explain to me how to navigate to the empty kits/patterns. I pressed ptn select, then value or shift and value. It appears that all the slots are filled. Is it just me? I'm new to this machine.

On v3.0 pattern change via external midi is not working in sync with clock, for that reason I have to stick with v2.0. Shame on Roland for not fixing this issue.

ACB is not samples that you said at 2:40. Sounds or presets you could say
