I made an egg shaker out of a little plastic Easter egg that you get for Easter hunts or whatever, and filled it with one small box of nerds and it actually sound really good! Maybe you could talk about it in your video or make one about it. I like my rdavidr hoodie too btw!
Your channel is very creative and I love watching all your vids, it brings a bit of creativeness in all of us subscribers. Making, buying, adding new things to the kit is almost becoming an obsession now! Keep it up.
I just realized all the music used in these videos are yours and you made them, rdavidr. That is awesome! Sounds like something MF DOOM would rap over, some of the beats I hear, or reminds me of New York boom-bap rap. Great vibe! Thanks for the video, always enjoy watching them!
Dude! not gonna lie.. the last clip with all the crap on the hihat looked awesome an I liked the way it sounded. Your hihat would fit in down here in New Orleans ;)
The best place to tape is at the node (in this case, very close to the hihat assembly). That minimizes the muffling, and gets a little more sound out of the one shots.
I've seen some people mount a shekere to a high hat stand. I've never seen the hats themselves also on the same stand at the same time, but the sound from the shekere was far less subtle.
Those one-ways are a nice little instrument.... The small model you have cannot compete in a rock environment against the kit.... In any event, You can mount a shaker of whatever type at the end of a beater stick, instead of the beater head. But then, instead of whacking the shaker/beater against something, place some soft-but-firm material UNDERNEATH the foot pedal, in between the pedal itself and the base of the pedal, covering the screw thingy used to tighten the pedal to the drum rim. This material does the sudden abrupt stopping of the shaker movement.... You'll likely never achieve the volume needed with a shaker in a rock environment. ... See also the Gajate bracket (?) and a tambourine... or cowbells... blocks...
I find if u mount the shaker higher up on the hi hat stand, it seems to be louder. If you watch videos of John Bonham or Dave Grohl (only saying these two because I know for a fact they do this), they mount their ching ring/tambourine all the way at the top of the hi hat rod.
Bad mojo. U said crap. For music making devices. This will haunt your funk. Nah!!! Luv ya man. I bet the Manu deals would be louder without the one shakes. Less mass to transfer to the eggsters? Love your channel bro!
David, would you mind putting the songs you used for the videos in the description? I always love your beats, but I can never remember the names of them
what if you tried to mount the one shots to a bass drum pedal by attaching the rod of a bass drum beater to the one shots some how so when you use the pedal it would make the shakers shake?
That sure was some voodoo shit there. off-topic, what kind (or which) of sticks do you prefer when playing if you'd be forced to choose just one make & model/size?
can you make a diy hi hat clamp i need one really badly and i want to learn how to make one or if you can send it to me that would be even more awesome
"put a whole bunch of crap on your hi hat and you'll br good to good to go" *goes to next scene.......as im taking a drink of beer. thanks man now you owe me a nee shirt for making me laugh so damn hard
Glenn is the man! I could probably make a video about all the weird stuff he does with his kit. I might have to do that... haha
howdy
rdavidr plz do
great vid :)
rdavidr Hey Dave, what are your favourite cymbal manufacturers? I'm thinking about getting masterworks, are they any good?
rdavidr is the man! I could probably watch a video about all the weird stuff he does with his kit. I might have to do that... haha
Your hi-hat at the end there could make extra cash as a stand-in for Johnny Depp.
fuck haha
Except the hi-hat cant beat up women
hajahaja
David Paul I thought that same thing too!
I dont the joke can someone explain pls?
No other way to put it bro. I've been a sub for YEARS and you know what? You're a straight up G.
I love Glenn. I would be intrigued to see you do some of the stuff he keeps on his snare. I've always been intrigued by all the sounds he gets.
We've seen Wilco live 11 times now. Glenn never ceases to amaze, entertain, and impress.
I was literally laughing out loud when you were "casting voodoo" on your kit.
me too, that was amazing
Me too. And it still sounded good. :D
Same

Jordan Parrish I love mine too
I once read or heard jeff tweedy call these sorts of things "inglenntions". Love your videos, looking forward to the day Glenn comes to you.
Man, that 'Pile O' Voodoo' on top of the hi hat looks practical for some jungle beat action. Way to go!
Your channel is very creative and I love watching all your vids, it brings a bit of creativeness in all of us subscribers. Making, buying, adding new things to the kit is almost becoming an obsession now! Keep it up.
Glenn is such a rad guy,
I love his outlook on percussion and Drums.
that bit at the end was hilarious! :)
Those finger splashes were moving around pretty damn voodoo bro!
As always, thank you man!
these videos just keep getting better
That end hi hat voodoo part was golden!!
I just realized all the music used in these videos are yours and you made them, rdavidr. That is awesome! Sounds like something MF DOOM would rap over, some of the beats I hear, or reminds me of New York boom-bap rap. Great vibe! Thanks for the video, always enjoy watching them!
those one shot shakers just blew my mind. everything I know is wrong
Dude, your beard game is on point. and your drumming vids are pretty bad ass too. Cheers!
Now I need to make a hihat-mounted voodoo puppet with jingles. I like the concept.
Awesome stuff as always, man!
5:55 so much awesome! Killed it Dave.
I've seen small shekere mounted the same way with hihat clutch. THAT really makes a lot of noise!
The end of the video is hilarious couldn't stop laughing!!!!!
Haha nice one Evil Voodoo....love the extra effort you put...great content
Dude! not gonna lie.. the last clip with all the crap on the hihat looked awesome an I liked the way it sounded. Your hihat would fit in down here in New Orleans ;)
Awesome, as always!
😂😂😂😂 the last one was like god help me please there's no sound hahaha i really like it man
best part of the day when dave uploads 😂
+rdavidr that joke about the evil voodoo is so true. I haven't laughed at a joke like that in a while. Thanks

if the hihats a rockin don't come a knockin!
who else thought the Xmas tree hihat sounded good?
When you taped it together,
The one shot literally looks like a bomb. 😂
5:51, I LOST it 😂...and that's when I hit the 'like' button.
Great video. Love your humor.
Hey I loving the work that you do, just kinda cireiose how the HHG snare drum is going?
I feel the inner rage when you are shaking those shakers...
You always post during my practice time :(
That's some high pitched snare you got there.
Yes make a cajon!!!!
I'm against the idea of the cajon.
that fill at 4:46 is PHAT
When your hi-hat literally looks like an helicopter lol
😂😂😂 The perfect shaker in the end !!!
so we’re not going to discuss the fill at 4:47 ?
Am I the only one that likes the sound of the hi-hat xmas tree looking thing?
Sick. I'm going for the voodoo hat
dude u r amazin in what u do
I've seen some people mount a shekere to a high hat stand. I've never seen the hats themselves also on the same stand at the same time, but the sound from the shekere was far less subtle.
Thanks for the video! Ever thought of trying a Meinl Luis Conte shaker? It's already the right shape, no tape required, and cheaper!
"a whole buncha crap on your hi-hats" brilliant :D
Hi dave, nice video as usual, why did you try to do it on up stroke ?

I love it!
Laughed my ass of when he said put a bunch of crap on your high hat HAHAHAHAHA
BRILLIANT!
couldnt you flip the shakers to have a sort of 16th notes hihat sound with the down beats being hihats and the upbeats being the shaker
the beads woundnt move enough to hit the top of the shaker
That sure was some voodoo shit there. off-topic, what kind (or which) of sticks do you prefer when playing if you'd be forced to choose just one make & model/size?
So, mounting the one shots upside down produces a backbeat? Did you try that?
i like it i might try to make one myself
Either try to take the 100 rivets out of the 100 rivet cymbal and sound test it or make DIY Octobans pleasssee!
Hey Dave, what are your favourite cymbal manufacturers? I'm thinking about getting masterworks, are they any good?
What if you used the lock nut... and then just tightend the top washer of the clutch down?
As long as it works way the go👏👏👏😎😎😎🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
i lost my shit at 5:50 lmfaooo
The ultimate hiHat shaker
Heard some of your stuff on soundcloud.
What ride is the far right one you were playing?
22” Apollo ride
Pretty sure Green Day used this technique in "Extraordinary Girl" off of American Idiot. You can see it in the movie Heart Like a Hand Grenade.
can you make a diy hi hat clamp i need one really badly and i want to learn how to make one or if you can send it to me that would be even more awesome
that looked like some voodoo sacrificial stuff in the end
The "evil vudu" will fit perfectly in a black metal kit
And its not "i feel" is "looks like"
hey dave, i cant find your "grandma killer" video (herta?)... have you deleted that?
How do you tune your tom heads?
"put a whole bunch of crap on your hi hat and you'll br good to good to go" *goes to next scene.......as im taking a drink of beer. thanks man now you owe me a nee shirt for making me laugh so damn hard
Nice !!!
can you please finish the snare ?:D
Congratulations ! Another cool video .... I watch all ... Some I already could do and put into practice.
Big hug!

Boom shalalaka here comes the spirit man
Where are the 1,000,000 subscribers?
Surprised the hat will even open with the last setup
I. LOVE. GLENN. K O T C H E
it looks lika 1960s TV antenna now towards the end, an at the very end it looks like 60s TV antenna during Halloween
what ride is that?
22” Apollo ride
Dave's beard is mezmorizing. I just want to be in his beard swimming around. Maybe he will let me touch it one day. Hopefully we meet one day.
I hope you don’t
Have you ever tried to make a drum rack? My dad was a welder, we made me a square tube drum rack.
where can i download "gavel"?
I died at the end haha
hi David i love your videos
can you please respond
david you should answer this kid
DIY L80 cymbals?
Mental dude....😎
Make a drumkit inside a cymbal!
4:47, that is fuckin' cool pattern! Wow
Great ending 😂
5:55 the Christmas shaker
Brain fart @ 3:03. Simply lower/tighten top adjustment nut. :D
That raw ride cymbal sounds worse than a garbage can lid. :D
A hot glue gun would have helped eliminate all the tape. Lot less muffling and you could pull it apart easily when you wanted to dismantle it.
Love u
haha like a christmas tree :D
