If she didn't have great feet, full turn out, or the ideal body type why did they give her a place in the school?
Same question😅 just for the drama
At the audition, as they are criticizing how inept she is, one argues: "But look at her..."
because they can see her potential
Because she has the look
Agreed, it didn’t make sense
I don't know how true the whole 'right body type' is with ballet (only going on what I see, not speaking as a professional) but I'm glad they were slightly more respectful towards Margot Fonteyn here than the were in 'Black Swan'.
I mean, which sounds more aware of her legacy?
"Margot Fonteyn danced into her 50s..."
"Yeah, we know."
or
"Margot Fonteyn didn't have great feet."
"When Margot Fonteyn was on stage you couldn't tear your eyes away from her. That can't be taught."
And you have to admit he was right about that at least, that certainly can't be taught. Being a viewer and not a professional I can't see too much of a difference between her feet and other dancers myself, just that she could all sorts of things with her feet I never could, but I agree, there is something about her when she danced, both with Nureyev and before she started dancing with him.
What bothers me about those teachers is that they want literally everybody & everything to be perfect.
But that’s impossible, the important things to remember is that you do your best, learn from your mistakes, and have fun in the process.
Who agrees with me about that?
I do.....but from what I can tell ballet is a very demanding art form.....
I agree but Ballet is such a hard business. You HAVE TO be perfect to dance in Swan Lake. That's brutal but the truth. Ballet destroyed so many dreams of so many young dancers.
Wow those teachers were so brutal and rude. She was doing the best she could which was incredible!
It's true, but she also was at the top class in the country with the highest standards. She was exactly the kind of dancer Cooper Nielsen's company wanted, but not what the ABC and other elite ballet companies looked for.
Unfortunately that realistic in the industry.
Darling, this is what it's like in ballet.
Her best wasn’t good enough. It’s very common in ballet. The most talented, the best dancer will never make it if she doesn’t have good feet.
Looks like she made it anyways 😎
This movie is really good. Big stomach king eats seafood, octopus, lobster, crab, conch, too spicy, don’t try
