I worked on this series of commercials, developing and executing the national PR strategy for the campaign. I personally interviewed all of the artists, and we shot the video and recorded the rhyme tracks in L.A., though it was all conceived out of Chicago. The animation was done on the west coast as well. We came back a year later with the "Five Deadly Women" Sprite commercials, based upon the classic Five Deadly Venoms film. Indeed, it was a great time to be a young ad agency exec. Kudos to Reggieknow Jolley, the visionary creator of both mini-movie concepts.

Seeing these commercials back in 1999 were a huge influence on me choosing to major in Mass Communication/Broadcast in college. Since graduating, I have worked at a hip-hop radio station and, following that, the ad/traffic department at a TV station where I am currently still employed. Sadly, neither hip-hop nor advertising are anywhere near as good as they respectively were during those times that first inspired my chosen path. I wish I could have been a part of the business back then. It seemed very exciting.

THIS! THIS is what Voltron: The Third Dimention should had looked like! THIS art style! Same with Voltron Force. Get an awesomely epic story in there and you got yourself a show!

Aw maaan...I haven't seen this commercial in AGES. Let me see if I can remember who's who.
1st lion = Goodie Mob. I can hear C-Lo green and Big Gip prominently.
2nd lion = Fat Joe. Unmistakable.
    3rd lion = Common A.K.A. Common Sense.
    4th lion = Mack 10.
5th Lion = Afrikaa Bambatta if I'm not mistaken.

Neat marketing with the Urban Hip Hop flavor and its "official" beverage *SPRIZITE* and a mix of Voltron. I bet the Japanese ate those up.
