    Great review of Sanwa. I remember them back in the day but they don't promote their products well so I thought they pulled out of American markets. Great to see they're still around and producing quality meters complete with certifications. I noticed the PCB has few components. I had always thought a complex PCB like the Fluke and especially the Brymen with their double sided boards and bulging components were a sign of quality but now I'm rethinking that notion and wonder if that's for flashy optics and showmanship. With modern chip integration and advanced manufacturing I'm not sure if such complex PCBs are necessary anymore and if there's any real advantage to oversized components beyond better tolerance of higher voltages and current. Part of me wonders if those 'busy' designs may even be antiquated. Sanwa PCB shows a sensible modern design. Again excellent review. Thanks.

      Agreed, Sanwa-america.com has done a bang up job of bringing Sanwa quality to North America 🌎 Many folks who wanted a Sanwa may have been put off by the International shipping etc. Now, shipping is direct from the USA and really fast! Glad you enjoyed the review, plenty more coming 😀

    That's a fair review. It's really nice looking and I dig those input jack covers (kinda thinking of making my own for my Habotest). What's up with 1.58V on the diode test w/2 AA batts?

    Not a bad looking meter and seems like a decent build, bit disappointing capacitance and diode test functions. Seems like a low CAT rating given the input protection that was present. Shame there isn't independent lab verification. Thanks for the review, will look out for the other Sanwa reviews.

    Not a promotional video it's simply a full review. Sanwa multimeters are very high quality. I have many that are going on 10 years plus and do not suffer from this mysterious dissolving plague you speak of. Sounds to me like you are storing your meters incorrectly. My Sanwas are as accurate or better than any Flukes I've ever owned. I've used them in mission critical operations and they've never let me down. Nice fluke promo btw.

    Loves me some Sanwa multimeters. I'm waiting for your take on the PC7000 DMM and hopefully a couple of their analog meters, the EM-7000 & VS-100. All three will be added to my collection soon! Sanwa America is offering 10% off of 1st purchase presently, Darren's coupon of 20% off, and who knows maybe I'll be a lucky recipient from this Channel's Sanwa-America Extravagaza meter giveaway to complete my sanwa shopping list 😃 😊 🙂

      @@KeepOnTesting Hi Darren, i tried the CD772 and it works. no issue. But my idiot brain accidentally measure on AC terminals and shorted the fuse. the Fuse Blown but now i need to find the replacement. the original fuse is a ceramic fuse, SIBA DMI 10x38mm 1000V 16A 33kA. What i could find locally is a gPV Fuse 10x38mm 1000V 16A 120kA DC Fuse for Photovoltaic. Would it work as a replacement? what would be the limitiation, theres probably a diode inside, would i not be able to measure AC current?

    Sanwa digital multimeter is not something to admire for...Their best one is the PC7000...an old hardware wise DMM, sluggish and just so so in real life use. Sanwa more specialized in analog multimeter, but in real use i d prefer their lower end model, not the top one like EM7000, YX361TR or CX506A....the reason was the pointer goes too slow. I d prefer Kyoritsu over Sanwa, even when compare the test leads. Kyoritsu test lead is more solid than Sanwa hence provide better on the spot contact.
    The reason you need a analog multimeter is for quick check the respond of an output (pwm, capacitor ect...) you know what i mean if you are in the same page...so i dont need a "smooth" pointer...it actually make my job harder, it might smooth out the tiny movement (but sometime very important) i need to see.
    The Kyoritsu 1110 if comes with 10K resistor selection would the end game of analog multimeter. You need 12V on the tips of the test lead for some high voltage diode measurement.

    • @KeepOnTesting
      @KeepOnTesting  2 месяца назад +1

      I disagree..SANWA multimeters are top notch test instruments with high accuracy. Kyoritsu also builds incredibly good test instruments. They both have their place in the testing realm.

    • @thanhnguyen-xi8fq
      @thanhnguyen-xi8fq 2 месяца назад +1

      @@KeepOnTesting Nowaday people don't need analog meter for accuracy. If you need a correct number (R, C V value, use the digital DMM) and like i said, sanwa is not the exellent option when talking abour DMM.Analog meter is for what i said above.

    As always I really wanted to like this one for its quality and accuracy which are its best features - but regret too many areas come up short for this price range - weak backlight, -only reads C* when 99% of other meters read both C&F - no diode reading, I assume it reads a regular diode but I didnt see a regular diode tested - I dont think this meter was even intended to read anything but regular diodes. Also no safety rating of any kind, very weak capacitance range for something in this price range. Theres more versatile options in this price range also of comparable quality. The UT191T first comes to mind. as well as others. Quality and accuracy is there weak on functionality making it less useful than comparable products.

    • @KeepOnTesting
      @KeepOnTesting  2 года назад +1

      Hi Mike, thanks for the honest feedback. I agree the light emitting diode test was disappointing it did correctly measure a standard diode though. I disagree in terms of overall versatility as I believe this is a real capable tank on the workbench or mobile technician warriors. The display is stellar and the input protection is very well done. I think it's the type of multimeter that really shines in person with its great tactile boot and awesome Sanwa test leads.

    rubber coating on the Sanwa meters is of very poor quality my CD772 has started to decentigrate and i have barely used it in past 7 years. The rubber coating is stickey and rubber porbe holders are breaking off which i have never used to hold the leads and my meters are always standing on stand not lying in some bag. My Fluke 87 which is older does not have the same issue with its holster. I really dislike such electronics which are designed to eventually decentigrate on their own..... In terms of accuracy and quality Fluke is better. Japanese quality is no longer up to the mark.. Even after paying such an high premium meter it will not last 😑 i still have my fist chinese 3$ meter it works and looks the same when i had bought it 10 year back. also mine is made in Japan.
    Nice promotion video by the way.

    • @DoTheDiy
      @DoTheDiy 10 месяцев назад

      @@bawa2364 its not something you can wipe off. The lead holder are gone now, they designated. This is issue with all rubber coatings they do not last, but manufacturers use them just to make fancy products, same is true for Logitech and the soft rubber coating their mouse come with no matter how much u pay dam thing will not last. Planned obsolescence.... I have lot of dmm and even have a 6.5 digit rigol, all have survived even the mastech and the much cheaper are all doing well. This Sanwa and all their higer meters are bugged by this issue.

    • @mangatom192

      @@DoTheDiyIs it possible that it's due to humidity. I live in a very humid place and my devices that have rubber sleeves/jackets start to disintegrate. I have a g502 mouse and I dread the day the rubber starts disintegrating.

    • @DoTheDiy
      @DoTheDiy 3 месяца назад

      @@mangatom192 this is the issue with design, all the meters from sanwa have this coating and will have this issue. It should be environment factor that will expedite the wear of this coating. But I should not care about that right if it's a professional use equipment it should last. It it's made as per weather in Japan then sanwa should sell it there only. I do not use this meter it is in my collection to remind me what a failure it is. I have switched to Fluke and happy now true professional quality and can take some beating

    Sorry, a DMM with 4000 counts, not even capable to test LED´s, without independent certified safety-rating for $150? Are you kidding? Given: It has a nice, clear design and a usable backlight. But that doesn´t level the former reminded points nor the lack of a sufficient capacitance range.
