i have 1 tip for new players, if a mainline quest asks you to kill some street mob always look around that area for side quests that also have you kill those street mobs. It basically just gives you free exp
I like it, but “looking around” for sides that match up with your main quest line could be rather time consuming and costly to XP accumulation. I think it would be faster rushing main’s unless you knew and could provide a video on all side quests that are worth picking up? Thanks.
100% agree, more often that not, when you enter a new area and there is a side quest that already appears, it will very likely have you fight the same mobs for your first or second mainline quests. It’s not always guaranteed but even if you do pick up a side quest that doesn’t fall in line with the main quest you can always just not do it
My advice for new players, when a game says “free to play” but you can only progress though 3% of the game and the only way to progress further is either to pay crowns or pay monthly for membership that’s not it being free but a pay to play.
My advice to new players would be to actually listen/read the quest dialogue and follow along with the story - at least on the first play through. Don’t speed quest your first time but after that go for it lol
For side quests, I just take every single one. I usually end up completing many of them by accident anyways. There's really no harm in picking up every single one.
I didn't know how to use the "team up" option until really REALLY late in the game and it would have helped me a lot if I knew earlier, I would just wait around for someone to go in with me.
I think it will be good for the game overall.Motr people will get to enjoy the first arc and will decide if it's worth to pay for the game.Honestly really don't know why the haven't made it permament.
What I wish I knew was that Kingsisle has a way to earn free crowns. If you play 10 daily trivia quizzes, you can gather 100 crowns (10 per trivia). Then when you use them to buy the next area you unlock it forever for all characters on that account. I got back into the game a few years ago and I managed the daily routine for a few months, managing to get up to the beginning of Dragonspyre before it became too much. Now I am back in again and I have a better system, and I look forward to (eventually) experiencing the rest of the game!
I was dumb when i was young. What i did was just fight lost souls for 1 hour and i didn’t know how to get past it. Obviously after that , i started watching youtube videos and learned that u can complete Unicorn way. I also trained other school spells and i would wonder why i kept fizzling. Another thing was i used to max max out my health ( at lvl 7 ) which was funny cause it really didn’t matter. Same thing with picking cards i did not know you can add spells into your deck and discard you hand ofc. That made me make tons of problems and I wish i could be back there and be like “ Am I dumb?”
I have been gone from the game for years, but my strategy as an adult player was different than some of your conclusions I did all side STORY quests since that meant that when I hit the next unlocked world I was already at a higher level than if I had just skipped all the side quests. this made it much easier to solo most of the new world by myself. I occasionally would help other players who did not do the side quests since they were so much weaker than I was. as more worlds are completed the difference between a story line completist and someone who skipped side story quests became even more pronounced. someone who pays money to instantly skip ahead to lev 50 has the same problem. they are relatively weak since ALL side story quests were skipped you are right about most daily quests since their benefit was so low you showed the farm for gardening and that is no accident. it was by far the best home for gardening. i spent crowns to buy rare seeds and then multiplied them from planting and harvesting them in a garden you are right that larger decks can lead to a whole bunch of useless cards. however if used correctly large decks can give you some flexibility to put in situational cards that you do not want very many copies of and indeed no copies if your deck was really small. as my decks got bigger they became more useful since I was very careful about which spells to include and how many copies of each spell to put into the deck you are correct that the personality quest to select your first wizard is ridiculous. I ended up making a wizard of each school except for death and leveling them all up more or less simultaneously. I would all have done death, but there was not enough seats in the classroom back then to have every single type of wizard. so I created a second account just to level up a death wizard. the drawback was that death cards I got from all the other wizards could NOT be sent sent directly to the death wizard. instead you had to make a special request to KI to transfer these cards to the other account by playing as a wizard in all the wizard schools I found out for myself the strengths and weaknesses of each wizard school
something I didn’t rly know until recently was how to have multiple different decks. I certainly didn’t do that when I was younger but as a myth, several bosses are myth and it makes it incredibly difficult for me to take them down with just one deck full of myth cards. I now have a boss deck and ranked decks based on mobs so I don’t spend time discarding as you said. Also, teaming up is CRUCIAL. anytime i’ve been stuck if I team up, it has saved me every time. people are so nice and helpful and it’s good to know your role. If you’re a life wizard, you’ll probably be healing the storm who’s passing to gain pips. as a myth, I have lots of pierce and steal cards that I like to use to aid others because I’m not the hardest hitter and if I do hit hard, I need like 6 pips to do so. Knowing your role in a team-up v. a 1v1 is very important and can really cut down on time for everyone.

Played as a kid, always filling my deck, but now after playing slay the spire and other card based rouge like/lites, I have become part of the thin deck daddy gang
especially in the 1st arc as the decks (the equipment item) get higher leveled they allow you to put more copies of cards and more cards total giving the impression more=better.
My top 10 things I wish I knew before playing the game are: 1. Worthwhile side content to focus on- you probably don't care but crafting was such a huge impact on why I could even play this game to this day. It became sorta necessary for endgame because of dragoons gear for most people but before that crafting was seen as a sidegrade or even somewhat of a downgrade to dropped gear from the endgame content. However, some of the best gear to save time from grinding comes from crafting. Wintertusk gear literally saves hours of waterworks grinding because the chieftain hat and robe are comparable to waterworks gear even if they are more subpar. Wintertusk also has some of the best accessory gear up until level 90. It's insane how many people don't know or realize that you don't have to spend years grinding gear all the time and can get back into questing if you dedicate your time correctly. 2. Pets and how costly they are to train- if you aren't efficient you can find yourself wasting tons of crowns on hatching elixirs and energy elixirs and snackpacks instead of playing the game grinding and making the best use of membership benefits. You don't wanna know how many times I failed a pet and had spent crowns on that stuff for it to fail again. Having a pet is a huge damage boost/resist boost to your arsenal and shouldn't be ignored, therefore learning how to best train them is important. 3. Use the bazaar- its extremely important to realize how much of the gear/spells and whatnot can be gotten from the bazaar early on and set you up for smoother questing. 4. How to socket or make use of jewels- jewels are a system in which you can get stats like crit or pierce, pip chance or accuracy and knowing how to use them because they are for the most part one time use is important especially if you don't have star jewel plants. 5. Proper deck and spell setup for general content- I mained life and due to the lackluster damage early on used to have my entire deck full of traps/blades/damage spells and other useless nonsense. Knowing how much damage your spells do and knowing how many blades/enchants/auras you need for content is important so you aren't wasting your time discarding and extending fights beyond whats necessary. 6. Life school is a school you genuinely want to play after one of your other schools are maxed. The amount of extended effort to make the school playable to the same extent as most other schools is just not really achievable on your first playthrough unless you look up guides constantly and are able to buy packs. You have to buy your low pip aoe, you want to buy a low pip aoe heal, you want a good pet for damage and jading, and you need more setup for clearing. This is all stuff you need to have knowledge on the game for and access to resources in order to be able to prep for this. If you wanna have a good time and be in farming runs for certain content as a life you need to have all these things ready. 7. Having a garden for pet snacks is extremely important and at least one character should be dedicated to this role. 8. Having a farming school is extremely important for farming content fast and efficiently. 9. Farm mirror lake a lot when you are free. You get 2 pixie stix for clearing it and most people are farming it for double pet exp. 10. PSA. Don't be that guy who joins the duel circle when someone's hitting. You're making it a longer fight because you're selfish, ask to join and wait for the player to respond.
They should actually make it where the first arc is completely free so people Cana cruelly get a feel for how the game is bc alot of people just give up. After reaching the pay wall in the first world...
I played as a free player for years I would log in and just kill the kraken and talk and try to buy a house and all that put it this way… I was level 8 and didn’t have anymore missions and I got to level 14 (almost 15) without membership just killing kraken and random mobs. I then came back older and made a new account and got to rolling with a membership
I used to think like storm you would use a lighting bolt to kill enemy’s. also if u remember when u created a new character every school had a special wand such as the frosted wand. They made a difference because the wand hits kinda made sense but they weren’t like now where it gives rank one spells and 5 extra accuracy.
One thing i would tell myself when i was younger is "Don't buy the areas with crowns, you think its worth it in the end but honestly i feel like now it really isn't"
Another tip is this: pay the $10 a month. If you want to pay to unlock the paywalls, you'll find yourself paying $21.60 for every area of Marleybone, Mooshu and Dragonspyre, which equals $64.80, not worth it! Sure you have it forever, but then you'd have to pay extra to get backpack capacity increases and you couldn't do PvP. And they also give special limited-time benefits like fishing without using energy, double rewards for gardening, faster pet raising, and more!
LMAO Me too on the Health comment. I'm also a Fire wizard and I didn't understand gear back then like I do now. Everyone said, "Get better gear" and I just didn't see the problem with my gear.
My advice to new players is Use your treasure cards i know that is obvious but instead of a heal in your deck try one in tc or elemental blades or your Bubbles you get allot of tc over time and some dont cost that much and can increase your survive ability by being able to chose when the heal comes or that buff instead of hope and pet jewels are good for swapping out if you havent maxed your pet for stats yet
For me it was having every spell in my deck and keeping it full. Now I only put my useful spells in my deck such as aoes, enchants and blades except for early game when I don't have aoes
"I don't know if something specific said put the maximum amount of everything in your deck" I think it's a little of cards automatically going into your deck when you learn them but mainly I think it's that as you level up you get bigger and bigger decks, like "if a bigger deck is a reward you should use it"
Advice to my fellow storm wizards. In vestriland there is another boss called ASRIK he is myth with an ice minion. His drops are just as good in terms of gold as halfang. But unlike halfang your hits are resisted; they get boosted from asrik being myth. You would most likely do this fight at a high level because less people farm him since halfang has lower health. But if your high level this is a good strategy for the fight; if your first tempest or squall wyvern; if your second unless if you got about 20-25 pierce blade into an aoe, otherwise do the same thing from first.
I'm still trying free to play. I've been playing for about a week since I just recently started playing shall (new account) but it's still very expensive. Not in terms of money but in terms of time. It takes 7 days of doing trivia to unlock Cyclops lane, which took about 3 hours to complete. Next week I'll be able to do firecat alley and then a week later I'll be able to do colossus boulevard. One thing that is nice is it gets you ahead a bit for your level in the gold department since a lot of the time you can't do anything except fish (which since I'm level 11 right now it seems like such a great way to get gold. You make like $1000 gold in a half hour.) One more thing I wish I knew before I started is that exp is based on pips and not the level of the boss. So when you're early game and you have an enemy down to like 45 health, you should go for a 2 pip spell anyway instead of a 1 pip spell or a 0 pip because you get double the exp (although it's 6 vs 3 exp so it doesn't really make much of a difference.)
I baught roads with crowns, You own them for ever for all characters on that account future and Old wizards. Thats my tip. 10 a month vs about 320 For the entire game.
The issue with that, is that you'd have to be playing for 3 years with a membership to spend that much. While missing out on all member benefits when they roll around, along with the backpack space and ect. Especially when you can finish the game on multiple characters in less than 3 months just by playing
@@Ghost-fc9hw i have played since mooshu was final world (2007 alpha beta days.), and i play off an on through the years. and 3 months to max sound so unhead of compaired to what it used to be like. An feels even now. I think its also more or less the feeling of moneys worth if you know your not going to play for a month or 2 then there is no reason to waste that time. I do see what your saying of the benifits and i do buy membership time to time, nearly did the 12 months and 5k a month deal but it just isnt the same as last years since it wasnt included membership id be spending nearly 130 on this "bonus" but at that point i could just buy the 60k for 60 + my 15% off.. making it 48. Its a matter of if i will use it enough or not or if the game gives those bonuses often enough.
Careful Noah for releasing these videos I feel like after the fishing nerf somethings is going to happen to gardening. Like I believe someday couch potatoes will drop spellments and make snacks even harder to get.
I used to just clutter up my decks like crazy and to some extent I still do. Though, I am currently learning or rather, teaching myself how to use my deck efficiently without cluttering it as a death wizard. I’ve looked up videos on how to do that, I honestly haven’t seen any videos to help with managing the deck for a death wizard. Maybe I was looking too much for a step by step guide? I don’t know..but I’m figuring it out.
I mean, I have deck guides on my channel. If you want a specific and universal death boss deck i’d recommend something like: 2 Feint, 1 Potent Trap, 2 Death Blades, 1 Sharp Blade, 3 Enchants, 2 Scarecrow, 1 SOF or potentially Headless Horseman. Obviously that can be changed, made smaller or been bigger. But that’ll carry you through every boss in the late game. For mob battles, easily just pack 2 death blades, one sharpened blade, 3 ship of fools and 3 enchants. If no ship of fools then do Deer Knight.
@@KaiserNoah imagine having 68 hall of heroes runs and getting the merciless gear was a pain. I love it when people say stuff like this when rng screwed everyone over. I had a friend who did hours upon hours of darkmoor for his robe and he started at the same time as me when muushu was the last world. 🙃
To be fair membership funds the development of the game. Not most but Every free to play mmo is p2w. Obviously Wiz also has p2w element but it's not as bad as if it was free.
I remember when i was leveling on my first wizard which is fire (i picked that school on exact same way as you xD) and since Celestia i started focusing on crit cause i thaught its better than dmg which was riddiculous... I had like a 30% dmg on level 70-80 but i had some crit... but after a while i understood this game and what to focus on and now my fire is fucking banger (i mean 161% dmg and 80% crit on Polish server where we don't have Karamelle and Lemuria stuff is pretty fine but would be cool to get dragoon amulet for dmg bonus but... im too lazy for that)
When I played wizard101 in 2016 I ended up Halfang cave and no one was ever there, I guess it wasn’t really a farm at that point, I had difficulty fighting that boss so I would always wait for people to join, but no one did.
If you are struggling with halfang I would HIGHLY recommend getting some new gear and a new deck setup. He should be one of the easiest bosses in all of wintertusk.
@@KaiserNoah I was a life wizard at that time, mostly did the game solo which was difficult as a life, I could survive but the matches would just take forever. I also don’t know much about the game at that point, I bought my gear off the crown store which I regret to this day. It was good gear up until Grizzleheim. I’m starting the game again now, having a character for each school. I’m not going to use crowns for gear mounts or pets.
I'd say if you're Ice: Make sure to do Wintertusk! I don't know if this is an Ice only issue but when I was getting an early arc 2 spell (Think either Snow Angel or Wolly) requires you to have Wintertusk iirc and I had to spend a day grinding there.
@@SoccYT Yeah, Wintertusk is really good for crafting + it helps with EXP if you were slightly underleveled going into Celestia even if Wintertusk is difficult at the entry level.
1. Membership > crowns 2. Only spend training points on death school up til feint 3. Only side quest to get is Zeke (for training points) 4. Duo boxing for questing is a breeze 5. Wait till max level before opening packs 6. Only purchase membership/crowns when sales are going 7. Knew how valuable empowers are 8. Get a discord going, get into servers for chances to win packs/crowns/member giveaways 9. Do not spend crowns on mounts or gold 10. Ice school is useless in PvE. Literally every school can do what they do and come with better support if tanking or hitting if on offense
What if you’re on a new account and you want to garden lots, wouldn’t it be good to buy the red barn farm? i do fishing so i always have enough gold to buy monsterous on early levels with some gold to spare, but wouldn’t i want good snacks to get a decent pet in the first place?
the stats to focus on is a big issue. Theres no reason why theres storms and fires in darkmoor with 20 damage and 3 resist and a bunch of bizaar gear in 2022. even for other dungeons it wastes other peoples time when one person in the team doesnt know what they're doing
I made a more horrible mistake. I made the maximum amount of wizards on my account. I don't wanna remove them because they are level 20-30 but they are soooo bad. What do I do
A few things I wish I knew about: 1) The free crowns from doing daily quizzes on the website 2) It's not worth paying real money for a mount, instead just rent a mount from Zeke for a day because it's a very very small amount of gold.
Honestly, I dont think the game SHOULD tell you things like what stats to focus on and whatnot, as leaving that to the players decision lets them both learn more natrually, and lets them feel like they have more choice.
Right outside merle ambrose's office first building on the right next to the shopping center. There should be an icon on the map as well if you look for it.
@@KaiserNoah I just learned yesterday what team ups were, when I tried to solo mt Olympus. It took me 3 hours to solo it on my myth, but I was successful. I did need to hire a life henchman when I got to the last boss. I also didn't know there was school pips for certain cards. I crafted some of the cool cards for myth and couldn't figure out why I couldn't use them. Do you have a gardening video for us newbs? I will be working on that next as well as trying this pet thing. I do want to lvl eventually. I'm only level 31 ATM though

As a new wizard101 player, I am trying to learn how to play the game. This is awesome content thank you very much!
Everyone said, "Get better gear" and I just didn't see the problem with my gear.
having 60+ quests and sidequests at level 30 is a problem that I have right now lol
I had never played a game in my life. I followed my kids to wiz. I was a storm and had a unicorn 🦄 pet with mana and health. I stayed dead lol.
For me it was having every spell in my deck and keeping it full. Now I only put my useful spells in my deck such as aoes, enchants and blades except for early game when I don't have aoes
"I don't know if something specific said put the maximum amount of everything in your deck"
I think it's a little of cards automatically going into your deck when you learn them but mainly I think it's that as you level up you get bigger and bigger decks, like "if a bigger deck is a reward you should use it"
Advice to my fellow storm wizards.
My first play through I accepted and did every side quest 😂😂
Buy a house around lvl 40 (first time I maxxed in gold) and use it for getting pet snacks!
Definitely there is so many things I want to just tell my younger self to not do the mistakes we did foolishly before.
@@KaiserNoah ok.
I may have unintentionally skipped over it.
But I’ll check again to be sure.
And thank you for the advice.
Accounts made in 2008/2009 have better rng drop rates than those accounts made later on
That’s just… blatantly not true?
lol what? I have hundreds of runs in content and I played back when feints didn't even exist.
Obviously Wiz also has p2w element but it's not as bad as if it was free.
if you know anyone who's of a higher level you can just tag along to their battles and get high lvl rewards and sell them for good gold
I actually Managed get to level 9 and nearly level 10 without a member ship
Lol 😆 same I got to lvl 16 before really starting Kroc
Bag of bones side quest you have has a pet as an award and I know I would do that quest immediately for that pet 😂
I remember when i was leveling on my first wizard which is fire (i picked that school on exact same way as you xD) and since Celestia i started focusing on crit cause i thaught its better than dmg which was riddiculous... I had like a 30% dmg on level 70-80 but i had some crit... but after a while i understood this game and what to focus on and now my fire is fucking banger (i mean 161% dmg and 80% crit on Polish server where we don't have Karamelle and Lemuria stuff is pretty fine but would be cool to get dragoon amulet for dmg bonus but... im too lazy for that)
Very informative video. Thanks mate!
I mean you can play it forever if you use the crowns method of buying every area
Ig so.
As a kid I always focused on incoming health and power pips for stats 😂
The side quest thing is real 😅 have 15 quests and 21 hidden quests 😅 will be going back later on and knocking them out
farm ostrilund for hours and easy all gold houses (thats what i did XD) and connect them with teleporters to flex on your friends
I started as a fire wiz also but eventually changed over to myth
lol I hold the record of getting to level 13 with no membership. Before the first arc was free
This vid was spot on!
I will buy the mega snack pack ... when the put it for gold but not a day before
i always do my side quests, i jst have to do them idk
I love doing side quests :)
I started playing in 2010 stopped in 2015 and am just returning now but I wish I had guides like this back then
i never went past level i say 13-15 without a membership
I'd say if you're Ice:
Make sure to do Wintertusk!
I don't know if this is an Ice only issue but when I was getting an early arc 2 spell (Think either Snow Angel or Wolly) requires you to have Wintertusk iirc and I had to spend a day grinding there.
Haha I remember having to doing the same thing
everyone should do wintertusk. The gear there is genuinely good gear.
@@SoccYT Yeah, Wintertusk is really good for crafting + it helps with EXP if you were slightly underleveled going into Celestia even if Wintertusk is difficult at the entry level.
I was a fire wizard too
I wish I knew Kaiser Noah 😩
it used to be free when i was a kid 🤯
1. Membership > crowns
2. Only spend training points on death school up til feint
3. Only side quest to get is Zeke (for training points)
4. Duo boxing for questing is a breeze
5. Wait till max level before opening packs
6. Only purchase membership/crowns when sales are going
7. Knew how valuable empowers are
8. Get a discord going, get into servers for chances to win packs/crowns/member giveaways
9. Do not spend crowns on mounts or gold
10. Ice school is useless in PvE. Literally every school can do what they do and come with better support if tanking or hitting if on offense
What i wish i knew was that minotaur doesn't work with faint or prism 😞
actually this game cost about 300$ of crowns to unlock everything
I would change the paywall
i have 70 side quests i just haven't finished ;-; (I am level 109)
What if you’re on a new account and you want to garden lots, wouldn’t it be good to buy the red barn farm? i do fishing so i always have enough gold to buy monsterous on early levels with some gold to spare, but wouldn’t i want good snacks to get a decent pet in the first place?
They should add more schools
That would be a really good idea.
the stats to focus on is a big issue.
What do I do
Level 20/30 isnt honestly that high. I'd just recommend deleting some.
A few things I wish I knew about:
1) The free crowns from doing daily quizzes on the website
2) It's not worth paying real money for a mount, instead just rent a mount from Zeke for a day because it's a very very small amount of gold.
so the gear in the crown shop is good only if u stich for looks
basically yeah
@@KaiserNoah OMG U REPLYED DUDE UR SO AMAZING I LOVE WATCHING UR CONTENT AHHHHHH💕
Hello again!!!👍
Honestly, I dont think the game SHOULD tell you things like what stats to focus on and whatnot, as leaving that to the players decision lets them both learn more natrually, and lets them feel like they have more choice.
why is the marleybone theme playing in olde town? lmao
fun
how can i progress much faster as a level 23 in terms of level
What armor set is that it looks awesome
Atlantean robe from Atlantean Bundle. Spiral Cup boots, Fire Elegant hat;
@@KaiserNoah thank you is there any f2p options that look simillar like with the heavy armor look and sigils? I haven’t played in like 3+ years :p
@@McAsad64 Not really?? I’m sure some stuff from Avalon maybe.
When is double reagents
Not sure. Probably within the next 2-3 weeks?
How do I get to the house lady where I can get monstrous? I’m new to the game
Right outside merle ambrose's office first building on the right next to the shopping center. There should be an icon on the map as well if you look for it.
@@KaiserNoah ok thank you! Have a nice day
Your robe you have stitched on your fire wiz looks so cool! Anyone know where to get that robe?
The atlantean robe from the atlantean bundle.
@@KaiserNoah Thanks!! :)
The bad news is that everything changed again. 😥
Where is the house raider and how to get there?
the commons, press the go to commons button. house across from ambrose’s
@@KaiserNoah ok thanks 🙏
Is it smart to buy a house to start farming on a larger scale or to just do it in your dorm? And if so, which house to save up for
I mean houses aren’t hard to buy. There’s some for 5000 gold in the shopping district.
Asrik is better 12888 dragon amulet
Where's the myth guide
There isn’t really a need for a myth guide. It’s plays like basically every other school. Just watch beginners guides and deck setup guides
@@lelandfallon8273 There are definitely farming guides but i’m not exatly the channel for it. Maybe Ferric
oh noes! a game forces children to think instead of giving them all the solutions at once ( deck building) and i need to comploink about it cause me brain hurtz bwaaaah bwaaah
I didn't know about stats until mid azteca! when I came back after 4 years
i also like having tc prisms in my deck for specific bosses
